The Blaugrana supremo has left his post amid ongoing criticism and a looming vote of no confidence. Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has resigned, with the entire board also stepping down from their posts. Bartomeu’s decision comes after several months of criticism in the wake of Barcelona’s 8-2 Champions League elimination to Bayern Munich, as well as Lionel Messi’s shock request to leave the club shortly after. Although the club was able to keep hold of Messi, with the longtime Barca star staying to avoid having to take the club to court, Bartomeu’s position has been under scrutiny for months. The president had been due to officially end his tenure next year, with elections called for March, but the club’s members called for a vote of no confidence in an effort to get Bartomeu out immediately. A total of 20,687 votes were gathered for the motion against Bartomeu, passing the threshold of 16,250 signatures required for the vote to go ahead. The Barca board repeatedly tried to postpone the vote but, on Monday, local authorities rejected the club’s push to delay the proceedings. As a result, the vote was set to go ahead in the coming weeks, but will no longer be necessary as Bartomeu and the board have stepped down. |

Human Rights lawyer, Femi Falana, on Monday said his group has identified the barracks where the soldiers who shot End SARS protesters at Lekki toll gate came from. Some soldiers had shot and killed some unarmed End SARS protesters seated at the Lekki toll gate in Lagos State. Following the outcry that greeted the incident, the military had denied the involvement of soldiers in the shooting. However, Human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, Falana insists that soldiers were present at the Lekki toll gate and shot at protesters that day. Speaking on Arise Television, Falana maintained that there was evidence of soldiers shooting at the tollgate gate. According to Falana: “We have already identified the barracks where the soldiers left for Lekki, we have already identified the barracks. “The President was likely to have been told, soldiers were ordered, so, I want to believe that was why it was not addressed and they said it was a rumour but I think the facts are emerging now, that indeed soldiers went to Lekki, indeed they fired at protesters and indeed some of the protesters at least two have been officially acknowledged to have died from gunshot wounds.” |

Average Nigerian youths have given up for the nation immediately after the speech of Mr. President I don’t really think you guys are serious about this. Is that how bad our dear nation is? What got me speechless last night is the Whatsapp status of some of my friends which displayed the Uber transport fare from Lagos to Accra. There’s nothing you guys can use to convince me that going to Ghana is better than Nigeria. After all, Bubu promised to make 100 million Nigerian youths millionaire in 10 years’ time. So why rushing? I want to ask you this question for the last time oo |
You all must have seen different videos of how different stores across the Nation was looted massively by Nigerians. This is so disheartening to see. These people just gave the Government an upper hand against us as the Protest was going peacefully until all these nonsense started happening. Well, who noticed this No single Bet9ja or Nairabet shop was looted… Think about it! Sincerely speaking, I really want to know the reason why this is so. NOTE:- I’m not in support of this looting of a thing but I just want to know why this is so. |

Nigeria is currently engulfed by the #EndSARS Protests over the last few days and one thing that has been a companion to these protesters is Music. #EndSars Protest isn’t new but this is by far the biggest turnout Nigeria jas experienced. What started as a small group of protesters in Lagos have spread to almost the 36 states in the country. So here are the top 5 songs that are favourites on protest grounds. 1.) Burna Boy – Monsters You Made For real – We’re the monsters these idiotic-filled government have made over time. Burna Boy already foresees this and he talked deeply about it in “ Monster You Made ” off the “Twice as Tall” album. 2.) Fela Kuti – Zombie If Police Brutality is a person then it would have been the great Afrobeat singer, Fela Kuti. Fela recorded Zombie many decades ago to talk about the deep rottenness in the Police system, and up till today the rotten keeps eating deep. 3.) African China – Mr President “No let this nation to fall inside well” – African China hollow out loud in his song “ Mr President ” released years back. And the song is still very much relevant in our society of today, cause nothing changed. 4.) Eedris Abdul Kareem – Jaga Jaga ‘ Jaga Jaga ’ was a controversial song at the time of its release. Banned by the then Obasanjo administration, the lyrics are still valid in 2020. While on the surface, it looks like Nigeria has come a long way, underneath chaos and trouble brew, an effect that the nation is currently experiencing. 5.) Davido – FEM! Any Politician or societal leaders saying trash should just please “ FEM! “. With this new Davido‘s song, it has been easy to pass the message at a time from the youths. |
Nigerian president, Muhammadu Buhari has urged parents and guardians not to support nor aid their children and wards partaking in the nationwide looting and vandalization of property. This was made known via a statement by the media aide to the president, Garba Shehu on Sunday. Read the statement; “A government that has launched a massive crackdown on corruption, brought in strong laws for a decisive battle against corruption, pursues loot recovery at home and abroad, and taken strong decisions against those who thought they were above the law, will not fold its arms when an otherwise legitimate and peaceful protest is turning into free-for-all vandalism and looting. While the administration has, for its part, blocked so many means of looting public money in a war against corruption, it is the expectation that all civil authorities, community and religious leaders in the country must rise against the organised looting and plunder we are witnessing in parts of the country. Families must turn back children who bring home unaccounted goods, in the same way wives must ask their husbands to return looted items brought home.” The president said the occurrences of destruction and looting do not tell well on the country’s image and should not be supported by parent and guardians. |
In a bid to check if the youth #EndSARS fight was a success and to know if the banning of SARS wasn’t audio too – Let’s all engage in this post. Today, I shared a post about someone who narrated his fresh encounter with the banned SARS men and how they treated him and one other. In the post, many Naijaloadites commented “It’s Lie” cause many believed there’s no more SARS on the road after they’ve been banned. Personally, Yesterday I saw these scary SARS men at Abraham Adesanya area of Lekki, Lagos, though I wasn’t stopped because they were already busily harassing a youth already, so I was lucky. I was so scared and bothered about how a banned Police unit still operates and they’re still heavily armed. Shey dem never suppose don collect their guns? I’m sure a lot of people will be bothered about these SARS people since the curfew has been halted and people are now free to go about their day-to-day business. Mehn! I’m f*cking scared of these people Oo! |
