A New Nigeria,
As we enter into a new era in the development of our nation, it is clearly seen that there are opportunities around us that were previously unreachable. Thanks to the past and present governments the business climate in Nigeria has seen tremendous improvement and there is a significant increase to the availability of support for SME owners. However these owners of SMEs must show professionalism in their businesses and follow existing business practices. Amongst other things, financial institutions are on the look out for businesses that have a well thought out and researched business plan and have put up proper managerial processes.

QuikLinx Marketing Solutions has put together a seminar on Business Development for owners of SMEs that want to grow their businesses. This package also includes THE BUSINESS GURU KIT - a resource tool with books on business planning, marketing planning, project management. The resource tool also includes over 100 sample business and marketing plans to aid SME owners in writing business plans.

Topics:
FATE - THE BEGINNING: Developing a Successful Business Plan
ABR - MANAGING LIKE A PRO: A Project Management Overview

Relevant to:
*Aspiring and current Business Owners seeking to strengthen business development knowledge base

*Students willing to acquire business development skills and strengthen their resumes

*Employees seeking advancement in their organisation

Lots of business related items and consultancy services would be rendered FREE.

BusinessWould You Take Out An Insurance Policy? by knzguru(op): 6:31am On Oct 11, 2007
I recently took out an insurance policy and i realise that i postponed it for too long. Except for car insurance (which doesn't really count because we're actually insuring ourselves against police harassment), I have a funny feeing Nigerians are not very insurance conscious and generally would not seek to insure their lives and property.

Also there might be this belief that if you take out life or property insurance you are somehow violating a pact with God an would incur His wrath (alright i confess, that was one of my reasons!)

So would you take out insurance?

Hi there,
This is to thank all who sent their resumes. Please be informed that you would be receiving an email shortly describing your first assignment.

You would be required to work from home as the nature of the work that you would be doing involves you marketing the packages that you would receive from time to time.

You would get a commission on sales of whatever item package you are given.

Only high performance marketers would be given the most attractive briefs or retained on a more permanent basis

@ buda atum

Paradise i grew up in! Dont get it twisted mate. Abi o ro boya ajebo ni mi? Grew up in Ketu, Alapere, moved to Kollington, Alagbado and now I live in Somolu (so i've got street cred grin).

You say we nee to build a better Nigeria and I agree but we've been doing this NYSC thing for years and please can you tell me what's been the exact impact on our naion. I understand and empathise with the needs of the people but these needs are the reason why we have NGOs. People should be encouraged to volunteer for such activities and not forced into a compulsory one year labour camp type vacation.

Answer this - Has the initial purpose really been met and are the motives behind the youth corps understood by the average Nigerian graduate? We know that generally our countries youth are far behind those found in "developed" countries but, given the fact that we still happen to achieve results regardless of the challenges we face, we definately have the ability the surpass them.

Some of the greatest countries in the world were developed not by physical labour only but by directed efforts of great minds. My point is that our generation cannot afford to waste a year doing mind-numbing manual labour when their minds should be in a constant state of development (though not everyone has the ability to produce original thought and create a product or service to positively impact society). Can't there be a National Youth Development Programme aimed at encouraging entreprenuership and empowering our youth with globally relevant skills in all areasof industry? Can you see the possible benefits of this.

Finally, wouldn't you agree that getting 20,000 books for a local library can be achieved by a 20 man team within 3 months collective and focused effort via the internet? Less time, less labour, less resources.

Cheers

@sergio
dude thats gotta be the best suggestion ever. Only lazy ass graduates would need a whole year to plan their lives - you do that while ur in school. Corpers recieve N8,500 every month = N102,000 for a year. This money could be invested in a number of different ventures and would encourage entrepreneurship. Graduates who need it can actually add value to themselves by furthering their education. I'll probably get a laptop and pay internet subscription and get to work honing my marketing skills.

But no. We get our butts stuck in the backside of nowhere wasting ONE WHOLE YEAR. If these so-called disadvantaged states need quality education they should pay their teachers with the NYSC funds
