Nigeria has one of the world's highest poverty rates. Most Nigerians now live in way worse poverty than I lived in when I was growing up. Yet Tinubu’s economic reforms consist basically in denuding citizens of some of the subsidies we had taken for granted—relatively cheap petrol (which leads to affordable transportation and food costs), subsidized education (which allows the son of a primary school teacher like me to go to university), etc.
[b]The justification for these “reforms” is that Nigeria is too poor to be able to sustain programs that help the poor to survive and thrive. So, sacrifice is required to rejig the economy. Money saved from the (temporary) withdrawal of the state from the lives of the people will be invested to ensure a greater, brighter, more prosperous tomorrow. Untrue, but fair enough.
But why is the sacrifice a one-way traffic? At the time that everyday folks have been told to contend with unsustainably extortionate petrol and electricity prices, which have had a domino effect on all aspects of life, President Tinubu bought for himself a new presidential jet worth $150 million, which is the equivalent of more than N150 billion!
This is aside from the fact that the sum of N12.7 billion has been allocated in the 2023 supplementary budget for the maintenance of the presidential air fleet. A country too poor to provide much-needed subsidies for its poor shouldn’t have a president who flies in an expensive plane or an air fleet that guzzles that much money to maintain.[/b]

In one of the videos where Tinubu highlighted his economic policy during the elections, Tinubu declared that his idea was to reduce the purchasing power of the people and widen the tax net so that all Nigerians pay taxes. The man is doing what he promised the Nigerian people he would do. I don't see any reason why Nigerians should continue to complain about it. If the people are not satisfied with his ideas and direction, there is one thing to do, call for his removal from office. undecided

Above it is stated that Abraham's people — His descendants — will live in cities they will take from their enemies, and every Nation will be blessed by Abraham's descendants— plural form. Abraham's descendants are indicated as a group separate from all other groups of the earth and nations. According to Scripture, and the God of Israel, those descendants are the children of Israel. And they would be a blessing to all the Nations. undecided

2. John was a prophet of YHWH. He believed in the God of Israel. He believed the Word of the God of Israel spoken through Ezekiel, David, Jeremiah, Isaiah, Joel, etc., all of which said that the Messiah would be sent to save the condemned for their sins of the House of Jacob. There is no record of Jesus Christ welcoming non-Israelites into the nation and agreement that is the Kingdom of God. They greatly sinned by attempting to add, remove, and change God's decrees in His Law, hence rendering the Law of no real benefit(non-effect) in their very lives, but that does not mean the Law was diminished in effect over all of Israel, however. grin

2. We don't even see eye to eye when it comes to what good governance should look like in Nigeria. That seems to be pretty much the case. I grew up in Nigeria where there was at least the following in Ikorodu where we lived.
■ Clean water right there in our home
■ 24/7 Electricity with rarely any outages unless maybe during thunderstorms
■ Good free schools
■ Good roads
■ Decent Waste Management System and clean communities
■ Effective police force...
Of course, all that was left to decay over time when Nigerians started allowing Kakistocrats to manipulate them both at the top and the local levels. So, my expectation when it comes to governance is high. I look at the suffering of the people of Nigerian and I don't see political parties but lives being wasted by politicians who they continue to religiously cling to. Some of them you Christians invoke regularly without even realizing them for what they are — instructions/commandments/laws/rules that the actual followers of Jesus Christ(all of them descendants of Jacob) are meant to abide by as Law abiding citizens of the Kingdom of God.

The particular instruction about love that you quoted from John 13 is just one of the almost 100 commandments that constitute the Gospel aka the Law of God in the Kingdom of God(Constitutional Law).

And yes I do believe that one cannot be approved holy and hence righteous by God —YHWH —if one holds unforgiveness against others, just as Jesus Christ said. According to Scripture, YHWH does not answer the prayers of the unrighteous —even their pleas for forgiveness go unanswered by Him. Meaning that God does not forgive those who are not first approved Holy and then righteous by His standard. So, when the Law of God in the Kingdom of God — Jesus Christ—says that one has to forgive all those who trespass against one to obtain God's approval for holy and then righteousness which means answers to prayers including granting of forgiveness of sins, then it means that one who bears unforgiveness will remain unholy & hence unrighteous. ↪ The Shavuot, in Greek, it is called Pentecost: It is a Jewish celebration of giving of the Torah(The Law of God).... it was only fitting for the Spirit of God to be giving this day. God has promised to write his laws in our heart and mind through his Spirit in us. On this day the law was given on Mount Sinai which is a prototype of the real deal, which is, the law given in our heart by the Spirit of God in us. Those who has the Spirit of God will never struggle to love, because love is the fulfillment of the law of God.
↪ Those who has the Holy Spirit will find themselves doing somethings they thought they are incapable of doing before unconsciously. For instance, if you are hot tempered, you will find your self being less angry on things that normally makes you angry before without even giving it a thought. That is what God was saying, that he will write his laws in our heart through his Spirit in us. So the Holy Spirit cannot come a day before Shavuot/Pentecost. It is impossible. The scripture must be fulfilled. So John 20:22 is a PROLEPSIS where Jesus is speaking of something as though it was already present. ✝ Romans 4:17

2. Second, there are two different Laws given by the God of Israel to His people, the children of Israel. The Law given through Moses which I like to refer to as the Old Law of Moses came with it a Holy Spirit which granted those who lived in compliance with God's Law — Holy men—Eternal Life according to God's promise in Deuteronomy 30 vs 15-20. And then there is the Holy Spirit which Jesus Christ who is God's New Covenant Law(the Gospel) in the Kingdom of God spoke would be handed down by His Father to those who love Him(those who abide by or live wholly in submission to His Law in the Kingdom of God) - John 14 vs 15 - 25 & John 15 vs 26 -27 & John 16 vs 4 - 16. In the same Gospels, Jesus Christ is written to have commanded His followers to ask the Father for this particular Holy Spirit whom Jesus Christ described as a Good gift from the Father.

Marwa, the last military governor of Lagos state did some serious infrastructural work in Lagos, work that helped sustain the Tinubu government's debacle in the state before Fashola then showed up. So, I would blame Tinubu for not continuing where the military left off. undecided
