Business / Google Inc Acquire Fitbit For $2.1billion USD by Kodjattson(m): 6:22am On Nov 02, 2019
Google reached a deal to buy wearable fitness products company (Fitbit Inc.) for roughly $2.1 billion, a move that intensifies the battle among technology giants to capture consumers through devices other than smartphones.

For Google, the deal marks a further push into consumer electronics, an area where it has yet to gain significant traction to complement its massive internet-search and advertising business. It also puts Google in renewed and direct competition with Apple Inc., which this week said rising sales of wearables and related services were becoming a bigger driver of its earnings

Google, a unit of Alphabet Inc., said Friday it will acquire the maker of fitness trackers and smartwatches for $7.35 a share in cash, a 19% premium to Fitbit’s closing price Thursday and a more than 70% premium from last week before deal talks were first reported by Reuters.

Fitbit shares rose 16% in morning trading while Alphabet’s shares ticked up slightly.

The deal lands at a moment when Google and other tech giants are under scrutiny on a number of fronts over their competitive practices and dominance of certain businesses

Fitbit makes so-called wearables, or watches and bracelets that primarily track health information like heart rate. It also has a paid subscription service that suggests exercises and other lifestyle changes based on the individual data it collects.

Given that Fitbit collects such myriad and personal data on its users, the deal will also raise issues around consumer privacy. In announcing the acquisition, Google said it would not use Fitbit data to help power its massive online advertising business.

“Similar to our other products, with wearables, we will be transparent about the data we collect and why,” Rick Osterloh, the head of Google’s hardware division, said in a statement. ”We will never sell personal information to anyone. Fitbit health and wellness data will not be used for Google ads. And we will give Fitbit users the choice to review, move, or delete their data.”

The regulatory scrutiny hasn’t brought Silicon Valley deal making to a halt. Google agreed in June to pay $2.6 billion for Looker, a maker of business intelligence and data analytics software, to bolster its cloud business. Facebook Inc. this fall reached a deal to buy brain-computer interface technology startup CTRL-Labs Inc.

For all their promise, wearables as a category have had as many misses as hits. Google several years ago launched a brand of smart glasses that attracted as much ridicule as buyers.

Whereas Fitbit has only 28million active users despite making over 100million sales of its gadgets.

Here are a few acquisitions by Google Inc:

2019: Fitbit
2019: Looker
2017: HTC Pixel
2016: Apigee
2014: Skybox
2014: DeepMind
2014: Nest
2013: Waze
2011: Motorola M
2011: ITA
2009: AdMob
2007: DoubleClick
2006: YouTube
2005: Android

Phones / 2019 In Perspective: A Year Of Flagships by Kodjattson(m): 6:09am On Nov 02, 2019
The year 2019 has been an exceptional year for tech enthusiasts especially itel mobile and their customers.

When you take a glimpse back into itel’s journey over a decade ago and how they stormed the Nigerian mobile market, it is safe to say this Africa’s mobile giant has always come through with some of the best and most interesting quality Android phones, including powerful flagships. They also provide – with a wide range of affordable smartphone options, which may be the perfect fit for you, taking into consideration regardless of your needs and budget.
For 2019, despite the cut-throat competition and phone war, influx of many smartphones from other OEMs, the smartphone maker has succeeded in creating a genuine alternative to other phones in both low-entry level and mid-range categories, which are AFFORDABLE, TRENDY and RELIABLE.

With that in mind, here are the headline-grabbing flagships and/or campaigns that itel wowed us with in 2019. Perhaps you might find your next favourite smartphone on this list:

****

itel P33/P33 plus: The birth of the power heroes

Released earlier in the year, the itel P33 and P33 Plus continue to be one of the best smartphone options priced at sub 30,000 naira but still give you amazing specs including a strong battery life ensuring that you enjoy the ultimate battry-saving smartphone without breaking the bank.

Coming into the market with a monster battery capacity and an AI Power Master, these devices are tailored to save your day, by ensuring your phone’s power never goes down. Don’t text and drive Nigeria: A CSR initiative

In response to the growing concern of road accidents, itel Mobile again proved itself as a brand that truly cares for its consumers beyond creating smartphones for everyone. By joining hands with LASTMA earlier in April this year, the brand successfully sensitized drivers on safe driving and road maintenance through physical demonstrations, interactive courses on safe driving, visual aids and donations such as reflective jackets and caution stickers. This impactful campaign reached over 400 tricycles in Ikeja and its environs in Lagos State.

*****

No more insufficient funds: A school teacher turned into an instant millionaire

itel’s commitment to putting a smile on the faces of their consumers continued with a mind-blowing turnaround for a teacher, Oyebola Saheed, who won a massive sum of N3.6 million naira in itel’s USD$10,000 promo. The giveaway was a platform to enrich the lives of customers and for them to get additional value when they purchase itel Mobile’s latest power hero smartphones, itel P33 and itel P33 Plus, in any itel authorized retail store. Oyebola Saheed and two other lucky people became millions of naira richer due to itel Mobile’s love for their customers.

*****

For the love of art

itel has sponsored several cultural events this time, For the love of art. The brand encouraged creative minds from Nigeria to showcase their talents to the rest of the world by being a proud sponsor of Kaduna International Film Festival (KIFF) , and a national Twitter writing contest tagged “Battle of the Inks”. Winners of the writing competition were rewarded with two itel S15 Pro smartphones and other gift items.. This has paved the way for brands by beaming the spotlight on the impact of the creative industry in Nigeria.

*******

In this year 2019, itel Mobile has strived to create an impactful presence in the Nigerian mobile market, but what is more even more heartfelt is how the brand has proved that their consumers are pivotal to the organization's brand success, and have therefore paid full attention to the immediate needs and interests of these people. It is then safe to say that itel Mobile has wowed and will continue to wow their customers in coming years.

Phones / Pro Level Upgrade. It's OK To Cheat! by Kodjattson(m): 11:20pm On Nov 01, 2019
Someone once said that it's OK to cheat provided it's an upgrade.
I've always doubted this statement until I encountered the itel S15 Pro.

When itel Mobile released itel S33, a groundbreaking selfie smartphone in 2018, we were thoroughly impressed with it. It was fast, sleek, and offered great value for the money spent on it. Even better, it has a stunning selfie camera that brings out the best and most beautiful version of you. However, this year’s S-series has a very interesting set of specifications that are just mindblowing. If you’re not careful, you just might end up cheating on the S33 with itel S15 Pro, the latest selfie smartphone from itel Mobile.

For starters, the itel S15 Pro is a selfie king with a 16MP AI front camera with inbuilt flash and triple AI rear cameras innovatively designed to capture clearer and brighter photos in lowlight scenarios. The AI cameras automatically recognize human faces and take artistic portraits whilst creating blurred background effects. This is as opposed to the 8MP camera lens on the S33. Thanks to the depth of the sensors, images shot in lowlight are crisp with natural colors, and the cameras do a decent job of detecting edges in portrait mode. Check out some images shot on the S15 Pro.

Interestingly, it comes with a 4-in-1 Big Pixel and Screen Fill Light technology which controls the amount of light needed for better image quality in both low and brightly lit scenarios. Also, for a flawless melanin look, the S15 Pro has the new AI Beauty Mode 3.0 to make your face look smooth, radiant, or even thinner.

Talking of the design and display, for the first time in the selfie series portfolio, the S15 Pro sports a 6.1“ HD Waterdrop Fullscreen which gives the device a stylish design you will love. The big screen offers a cinema-like experience for movie and game lovers. Book lovers are not left out either, as the device comes with adaptive brightness and blue ray eye protection, which makes reading in a brightly-lit environment less strenuous on the eyes.
Other embedded upgrades in the itel S15 Pro includes 2GB RAM + 32GB ROM, AndroidTM 9 Pie, dual 4G connectivity, face unlock feature, fingerprint sensor, amongst other great specs.
Good aesthetics, stunning cameras, great performance, affordability, reliability, and trendiness are what make the S15 Pro tick.

So what are you waiting for?
I recommend that you CHEAT.

Phones / My Muse by Kodjattson(m): 11:10pm On Nov 01, 2019
I love taking selfies. I don’t know why but I do. From pouting to duck face to teeth out, I can go all day taking beautiful selfie shots. But what makes my selfies so amazing to look at is the kind of device I use. So if you are just like me, and you want a real selfie smartphone with amazing specs, the itel S15 Pro is the right choice for you. The initial reviews about its stunning selfie camera came out really positive and being a selfie lover and tech enthusiast, I knew I had to get my hands on this device.
One thing I know about itel Mobile is that they don’t mess around with their smartphones: they are affordable, reliable, trendy and perform as excellently as most high-end smartphones. And like the customer-centric brand that they are, itel Mobile is concentrating on the S15 and S15 Pro’s camera features to suit the needs of selfie lovers at an affordable price.
If you would like to know what made me fall in love with this device, check just right below. Who knows, they might capture your heart as well.

First, let’s start with the camera…
The itel S15 Pro, other than being excellently good at taking bright selfies in low light scenarios or brightly-lit scenes with its 16MP front camera, also has a triple AI rear camera which comes with autofocus and bokeh effects for artistic shots.
The 8MP main camera captures clear and crisp photos, while the assistant cameras create bokeh effects and detect scenarios in order to output the perfect shot. The AI feature function of S15 Pro supports up to 12 different scenarios including portrait, food, flower, pets, text, etc. Also, it can identify texts on pictures as editable texts; it also supports print recognition of newspapers, business cards, and more. This helps to increase the efficiency of text entry and timely record of important information.

Next, an Android beauty…
The design on the itel S15 Pro is sleek with a vibrant display. This model was made to have a rather smooth and shiny finish - a look that you will find stylish and trendy. The screen size is 6.1”and has a Waterdrop FullScreen display for immersive viewing of your favourite movies, photos, games, and other media content. In terms of colour options, you will find the itel S15 Pro in Gradation Purple, an astonishing colour you will just love.

Other than having good camera capabilities, the itel S15 Pro also comes with 32GB of internal storage that you can expand by up to 128GB with a memory card. That means you have no need to fear running out of storage space.
It runs on AndroidTM 9 Pie OS, has a fingerprint sensor, face unlock, and supports high-speed 4G Internet connectivity.

Guess what? I’m enjoying all these features for the sum of N29,500 only. How cool is that?

Four Brands That Have True Nigerian Roots

Sometimes, you can’t help but wonder how a little child can mention the name of a brand off the top of their head or how some brand names have become the umbrella name for other products in their line.

Some familiar examples are:
Noodles: Indomie
Toothpaste: Close-up
Diapers: Pampers
Cement: Dangote
Sausages: Gala
Seasoning: Maggi
Road construction: Julius Berger

The list is endless.

If you are in doubt that there are brands that have localized themselves so well that Nigerians believe that life without these products would not be complete, you need to check out this list.

I have listed four brands and products that possess true Nigerian roots and why I believe that they do

UAC:

United Africa Company of Nigeria (UAC) which was founded in 1931, is indeed the first and real lifesaver. If you are a Nigerian and spend a lot of time in traffic then you know why this brand is on the list. The brand gave us the first ready to go sausage – the idea was most likely to make an easily accessible snack on-the-go, but if you have ever been in Lagos traffic, once in your life then you understand the saving power thatn Gala has when hunger comes knocking at your stomach’s door. This is not to say that there are no other similar brands in the market now, but Gala still remains the brand name for every single one of them. If you are in doubt, leave your house without eating, and then get stuck in Lagos traffic and then see if you won’t be tempted to purchase a Gala or two.

Pepsi:

The product made its debut in to the Nigerian market in 1992 and you know for sure that this is just more than just a carbonated drink. The brand has warmed its way into the hearts of Nigerians and has continued to make innovative moves to grow brand its loyalty. Aside from creating the Pepsi Long Throat bottle, which gave Nigerians more content at a flat rate of ₦100 – the brand has a Football Academy that helps groom young Nigerian talents.

itel Mobile:

Founded in 2007, the brand has, over the years, created amazingly trendy devices that are affordable, quality, and reliable. Over the years, the The brand has also made it clear through its “Love Always On” CSR initiative several CSR activities “ LOVE ALWAYS ON” that it is more than a device maker and seller, but it really cares about the development and betterment of the Nigerian society beyond making smartphones for everyone. .
Also, in terms of devices, the brand has also been able to increase smartphone usage by providing functional smartphones at an affordable rate. So, low-income earners can now enjoy premium smartphone features on their smartphone without breaking the bank.

Globacom

For all things right, this brand has made it on this list. Founded in 2003, when call rates were really on the high side, the brand came and gave Nigerians a new costing scheme that adjusted the operations of other telecommunication brands in the country.
It is safe to say that Glo broke the exploitation chain in Nigeria – with over 45 million subscribers, the brand was the first to build an $800 million worth high-capacity fiber-optic cables known as Glo 1 in 2011, which was submarined from the United Kingdom to Nigeria. Also, the brand has over 3,800 employees – increasing the chances of Nigerians for a better living.

Phones / NOW Is The BEST Time To Upgrade Your Smartphone! by Kodjattson(m): 9:00pm On Sep 17, 2019
There are two kinds of people in this world- those who are quick to buy the latest devices every 6 to 10 months and those who are perfectly fine hanging on to their aging smartphones, so far they work.

Whichever group you belong, let us remind you that this is 2019, therefore, you have absolutely no excuse moving around with a walking dead device as there is enough SMARTPHONE for EVERYONE.
If your phone is old, broken, or it’s taking the back seat in giving you the best experience, it is definitely time to pick up a new one.

Here are 5 signs it’s time to upgrade your smartphone (You’ll thank me later)

“Sorry, can I charge my phone here or with your power bank?” has become your catchphrase.
Having to charge your BATTERY every 30 minutes is enough to make anyone go nuts. If you have applied different tips on how to increase the battery life, and your smartphone battery still runs down before the day ends, then you know there is a problem. Rather than spend money on new batteries and chargers all the time, get yourself a new reliable and trendy smartphone, and drop that title of “King of low battery”.

You’re Spiderman’s landlord, as there is a giant spider web on your phone.
If your smartphone looks like it has gone five rounds with Floyd Mayweather, then it’s time to change it. Having a cracked screen is the worst, and repairing it can be quite expensive. Before the phone completely outlives its usefulness, its better to upgrade into something better.

Your phone camera did a timetravel to the '80s
Remember the 80s photos- blurry, black and white, absolutely vintage. When you take pictures with your phone and that is the result you get, my brother, my sister, time to change that phone. There are affordable models out there with impressive camera specs, capable of taking clear and crisp photos.

You’re always running out of storage
If you constantly have to delete your apps, pictures, and videos to make more storage room, then it’s time for an upgrade. Get yourself a new smartphone that can run faster, lighter, and use less memory.

In a race between a tortoise and your phone, the animal would win
Nobody wants to wait around for a smartphone that takes years to respond. Although there are reasons why your phone might slow down, in many cases, the age of the smartphone plays a part, over the Android update, RAM size, and many others. There is a good chance that the operating system on it is old and out of date. Not only will this prevent you from installing apps, it is also a security risk, as smartphone makers often stop releasing security updates for the older operating systems.

While there are a plethora of affordable yet reliable smartphones out there to upgrade to, why not opt for the latest selfie-centric smartphone in town – itel S15 Pro. This smartphone has proven to excel in rigorous reliability and camera quality tests with its 16MP AI selfie camera, triple rear camera, AI Beauty Mode 3.0, 6.1“ HD+ IPS Waterdrop FullScreen, AndroidTM 9 Pie, 3000mAh battery, 32GB ROM expandable up to 128GB RAM, 2GB RAM, Dual 4G internet connectivity, with other stellar features .
For an efficient all-round performance, the itel S15 Pro is your best bet. It comes in gradation purple at an affordable price of N29,500.

Selfie can be defined as a picture of yourSELF by yourSELF.
How does that sound? Great right?

The ability to create amazing pictures of yourself using the front camera of your smartphone is dependent on several factors.

Selfies have become synonymous with reactions such as pouting, tongue-out, head tilting, cheering and different funny expressions from the person pressing the selfie camera button.

No doubt, selfies are fun to take, but the social media reactions in terms of likes and comments on them makes them more pleasing. Whether you like selfies or not, the truth is no one wants to end up with a bad picture on social media. This is why we have created a list of five creative tips to make your selfies picture-perfect!

1. Strike flattering poses:
strike a pose that doesn’t accentuate your best facial features and you will have people swiping to the next post without even clicking the like button. Take note that your posture matters. So, take selfies from the right angles that show clear detail of your profile. You can pop one hip to the side for a slimmer waistline, or try placing a hand on a hip for slender looking arms among other stunning poses.

2. Check out the lighting:
most people make the mistake of taking selfies by backing the light, but not only does it reflects poorly in the picture but it creates a distracting glare and overexposes your selfie. So next time, find good ambient light to illuminate your face without exposing every detail.

3. Optimize your background:
imagine taking a selfie with a background that screams creepiness. Your background is a very important element in photography. Learn to remove unnecessary distraction and clutter that can make your picture look shabby

4. Use the right selfie camera smartphone:
you can only get all these steps right if you have the most resourceful smartphone in hand. I would recommend the new itel S15 Pro, a smartphone built to fulfill a selfie lover’s dream. With a 16MP AI selfie camera and the new AI Face Beauty Mode 3.0, you get to capture not just clear but clearer, brighter and excellent selfies both in bright and low light conditions. Also, the advanced Screen Fill Light technology provides you with a softer and more balanced light source than selfie flashlights. It also helps you to create radiant selfie moments at any time of the day. Other specs include 2GB RAM +32GB ROM (expandable up to 128GB ROM), Dual 4G internet connectivity, triple rear camera, face unlock, fingerprint sensor, and a 3000mAh battery with AI Power Master. itel S15 Pro is a smartphone for everyone that is available at an affordable price.

5. Take selfies using high angles:
Remember to take selfies horizontally. Always make use of hashtags to increase the chances of your picture getting seen.

Do you agree with our recommendations?
Do you have more suggestions for this selfie culture?
Kindly let drop a comment.

In the meantime, visit @itelMobileNG on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram for more information on the selfie smartphone, itel S15 Pro.

I did a research on itelMobile.

They basically have three 'categories' of smartphones:
A series AFFORDABLITY eg A22 (4G LTE), A32F, A15
S series SELFIE e.g. S13, S33 etc
P series POWER e.g. P31, P32, P33, P33 plus etc

I use an Itel S13 AND a Samsung J7 Prime.
The battery durability of the J7 Prime is poor.
I CANNOT generalise and say Samsung devices have no battery durability...

I am sure you have been enlightened... wink

Itel has no battery durability, that's where their product is been rubbished

Goldie Oldie grin

OEPHIUS:
Some people like it big, while some prefer it small, but don’t be surprised that some people are content with average. At the end of the day, what matters is how good the performance of that thing is.

Ever heard of the popular saying, “the bigger, the better”? It is an oldie that is definitely a goldie. The truth is, Nigerians will always argue about size because we have different preferences and desire different outcomes. But really, “does size matter?”

You know the answer. Yes, it does. But sometimes, big can have its disadvantages. However, your body can adapt to it, then you could enjoy every bit of that size and then you realize it’s so much fun, right? Now let’s try increasing the size a bit more! How does it feel now? Better? Suddenly you begin to realize even though big might have its disadvantages, the perks are certainly something you can make sacrifices for. So, you are agreeing to the fact that size matters, right? Great!

What have we been talking about? If you think it was about that delicate body part, then you are wrong. We are talking about the sizable specs in smartphones that we love and how Africa’s mobile giant, itel Mobile has made it bigger and better with her latest smartphone in the market, the itel P33.

The itel P33 flaunts bigger and stellar specs compared to its predecessors in itel’s Maxpower series with a massive 4000mAh battery and power management features that will remain formidable for years to come. The P33 itself is a well-built and decent all-around mid-range Android phone that dons a 5.5” HD+ IPS Fullscreen display, dual rear cameras with bokeh effects, multi-functional fingerprint sensor, face unlock system, and 16GB ROM with an expandable slot that’s up to 32GB amongst others.

It is more fun and satisfactory when you can enjoy a bigger size of something without sweating hard to get it. itel Mobile has made reliable and trendy itel P33, relatively affordable, so no sweating is involved.

2019 is off to a good start for itel Mobile as they are reemphasizing their commitment to providing that affordable, trendy, and reliable smartphone for everyone to meet different preferences. Get yourself an itel P33 to really enjoy the perks of a big sized and effective smartphone.

Power supply has been at the forefront of citizens' demand to successive governments... yet NOTHING seems to be happening to improve it.

Now we find ourselves in an age where our smart devices are like our PAs...

Imagine being able to operate your phone for 4 days straight on just one single charge of moderate use without having to worry about the battery percentage. That's 96hours of quality enjoyment!
This is what the upcoming POWER hero, itel P33, is set to deliver and much more.

We are excited about this device with better battery and features, and rumour mills have it that the itel P33 would come at a very affordable price to be released so

Itel Mobile is well-known for creating RELIABLE and AFFORDABLE smartphones for everyone that is also trendy. A rather constant presence in the rumor mills these past few weeks, itel Mobile has created a new standard for smartphone battery life within the mid-range category. But then, it seems the OEM is set to create even better standards this year as rumours making rounds on the web hint that the mobile giant might be launching her first flagship device for 2019 very soon and it’s touted to be a power hero.

Building on the battery legacy of its predecessors, the upcoming itel P33 will be competing with products from other brands who are in the race to conquer the long-lasting battery segment of the smartphone market. Not only is itel P33 touted as a gorgeous phone with a 4000mAh battery, but it also comes with more upgraded features than other phones with similar capacity.

From multiple reports gathered, other features to expect include an AI power master for an excellent performance in power management, 16GB ROM expandable up to 32GB, a 5.5-inch HD+ full-screen display, Android 8.1 (Go edition), face unlock, along with a multi-functional fingerprint amongst others.

Phones / Re: Why You Should Stop Using Tecno And Infinix Devices by Kodjattson(m): 9:49am On Feb 05, 2019
This post is wrong on many fronts.

First of all, not everyone can afford a Samsung/iPhone.
Secondly, you can try to 'enlighten' without trying to 'rubbish' a particular brand.
Third, most of these devices are low end thus they have a 'target market' which is LARGE.
Fourth, most people know what is BEST but cannot afford it.

I use Apple, Samsung, iTel and Nokia. They have their differences but they help me get my job done...

mikeycharles:
If you noticed in my title I didn't include Itel devices because they are nothing but power banks with LCD screens, anyways I created a thread on why you should not buy Xiaomi devices so read up on that later.
I could remember when I first purchashed my first smartphone, it was a Samsung Galaxy Pocket, it was small about 4 inches and came pre-installed with Gingerbread (Android 2.3). I was so frigging excited I had a phone that could literally do "everything", I couldn't wait to show it to my friends but when I did they just ignored me like my new phone was trash since most guys were using tecno devices with 5 inch screens and one gigabytes of ram. But I was happy with my device cause it could play most games their phones could play and it managed to pull through in handling apps which shocked both me and my "friends", my point here is despite being a smaller device and slightly out dated software version it still stood a chance with a Tecno device.
I could never understand the frenzy with Tecno and Infinix devices, there was no hype, nothing really significant about them since I've handled some of them but have not really gotten a taste of other Chinese brands but that all changed when my friend's Tecno Y6 got sent to the repair store over seven consecutive times and she had to settle for a OnePlus One since her boyfriend worked with Huawei and had managed to afford the device then. That device was crazy, big, efficient and with one of the best cameras I've ever seen. She never took that one for repair and used it for almost three years before upgrading to higher version, this experience led to me exploring several e-commerce sites and I discovered Aliexpress but that story is for another time.
A similar experience occurred with another friend but this one was her fault she had put her phone in her purse which had ice cream in it, an Infinix device; she had to spend so much repairing it that she gave up on it. They were so many complaints here and there, from charging port to flashing and reflashing.
Tecno sells "affordable" phones that would lead to you having a cardiac arrest, I still don't see the worth in their devices when there are so many better choices out there. Stop praising mediocrity just cause you are ignorant, their phones don't last and back to itel devices; A friend of mine got an Itel S11 or some shiit like that, I swear the camera was impressive like really dope at first but it didn't take up to a month and this "camera phone" started degrading like literally the camera kept getting worse from day to day not to mention the lag he had to suffer.
In conclusion, I would rather get the iPhone clone (Xiaomi) which is popular here than opt for Tecno and their worthless craps.

Phones / Africa's Mobile Phone Giant...11years And Counting by Kodjattson(m): 12:05pm On Jan 25, 2019
A little over a decade ago, a group of visionaries recognized the need to create a technological system that provided SMARTPHONE FOR EVERYONE at a COST-EFFECTIVE PRICE without compromising on the quality of the products.

They set up $10million valuable testing labs with 200+ tests for material, 27 tests for assembly process and 300+ special tests to stimulate all kinds of climates, usage scenario & habits of their main focus – AFRICA.

With a driving ambition to get close to consumers and understand their needs and expectations in various ways, they birthed itel Mobile in 2007, with a mantra to 'JOIN AND ENJOY' the best of mobile communication services.

itel Mobile has become a household name ALL AROUND Africa, but only a few of its users that enjoy the RELIABILITY , TRENDINESS and AFFORDABILITY of the devices made by this Hi-innovative brand, have heard of the marketing tricks, inspiring brand campaigns, meticulously researched consumer culture, business plots and resilient characters that transformed the Chinese manufacturer into a GLOBAL BRAND.

From its humble beginnings to its spectacular takeovers and accomplishments, indeed, the itel brand has come a long way since it was founded in 2007 and this is the gripping tale that unravels the heart of the story from which an iconic phone brand emerged.

From its inception, itel mobile started spreading its presence in over 45 countries across the globe. In 2016, itel sold a landmark of 50 million devices, placing them among the top 3 mobile brands in Africa. Every itel handset comes with 12 months of reliable after-sales service; with 1800+ service centers and 2,100+ professionals to adequately cater to the mobile phone needs of the people.

Coming into a competitive space such as the consumer electronics industry, itel whose business strategy spun around being a low-cost provider, faced a critical challenge of being a low-quality alternative. In 2009, itel combined its technological prowess with groundbreaking interactive and immersive consumer communication campaigns to address this issue, as it reached a sales record of 1 million.
Being a CUSTOMER-CENTRIC brand has set itel from its competitors. It has positioned its products as technologically advanced problem solvers through its ANDROID, SELFIE, and MAX_POWER devices.

In 2018, itel Mobile was recognized as the 16th most-admired brand in Africa. That same year, its best-selling monster battery smartphone, itel P32 was honored as the best big battery smartphone by US famous tech media Android Authority.

Product has always been the buzzword for itel Mobile but its CONSUMERS remain the core focus of the brand. Itel also continues to reinforce its commitment to giving back to society through its CSR campaigns tagged “LOVE ALWAYS ON”- an initiative that tackles social issues such as A child’s right to Education, fight against hunger and poverty alienation.

We can only anticipate or possibly try to predict what’s next in the itel mobile story as they continue to Marshall on as Africa’s mobile phone giant.

Phones / The Naija Spirit... Resilient. Consistent. Youthful by Kodjattson(m): 11:14am On Jan 25, 2019
When you think of the average Nigerian, what do you see?

Perhaps, a resilient Giant with patriotic fervor, maximizing his potentials and abilities in a tasking environment, with eyes focused on the prize of becoming a viable force to be reckoned with in the society.
You see a youthful soul irrespective of the age.
You see a trendsetter in fashion, culture, and enterprise, on which the strong foundation the Nigerian spirit emerges...

There are numerous brands vying to grab a share of a diversified economy like Nigeria's
Therefore it is not surprising that every day new brands emerge with a business strategy spun around creating top-notch products to cater to the needs of consumers despite the overflooded competitive space.

However, it is not every day you also get to see brands in an African market space get rooted in the CULTURE of its consumers, carefully CARVE A NICHE for themselves, amass a GENUINE target audience whilst constantly trying to discover ways to expand their reach into the lives of these people beyond their products.

You would find such outstanding examples in brands like MTN, Dangote, itel Mobile etc., as they have proven to possess what it takes to flourish in the African terrain.

Since spreading its tentacles to African countries especially Nigeria in 2008, itel Mobile’s brand value and perception have always been aligned with the Nigerian spirit – RESILIENCE, CONSISTENCY and YOUTHFULNESS. The Hi-innovative tech brand only came with one mission- to empower Nigeria’s economy by creating SMARTPHONES FOR EVERYONE through best in-class products that are RELIABLE, TRENDY and AFFORDABLE.

Itel Mobile is an encompassment of a unique brand development scheme, high-quality products that enjoy huge popularity within Africa, consistent improvement & more improvement as it cannot be overemphasized.

For a brand that is committed to reigniting the Nigerian spirit in every campaign embarked on, itel Mobile has contributed immensely to Nigerian communities, through an initiative tagged “itel Love always on” that addresses issues such as health infrastructures, Education, fight against hunger and poverty. A vivid example is the nationwide CSR extended to children through the donation of educational materials to support the aspirations of the younger generations.

Another noteworthy instance was when itel Mobile felicitated with its consumers to feel a little boost of nationalistic pride by creating an ambiance of patriotism in all retail stores across Nigeria on independence day in 2018.

itel Mobile has reaffirmed the notion that they are not only a business-oriented organization with the duty of providing smartphones for everyone but also committed to communal development & giving back to society in many ways. Beyond the product, it is a brand that mirrors the RESILIENCE OF THE NAIJA SPIRIT. It sees the struggles of the people and embarks on creating solutions to keep hope alive...
