Throwback: I hope you will vote Sowore as you have seconded his manifesto?
Or how do you explain that over 22million Nigerians voted for Tinubu, Atiku, and Obi, all of whom promised to remove oil subsidy?
Meanwhile, the candidate who promised not to remove oil subsidy only got over 14,000 votes in all of Nigeria. Removing oil subsidy is the goal, but you cannot do it at the detriment of the people. That’s why it isn’t an easy thing to do. But Tinubu made it look so easy because of his lack of compassion. I can tell you that floating the Naira didn’t really affect the people, so that one is an ok policy, but it will take a super heartless person to remove oil subsidy at the time Tinubu did. It’s like throwing away the bath water and baby. It was absolutely thoughtless. |

EyeCumInPiss: Nonsense! If there was not this level of hardship orchestrated primarily by Tinubu's removal of subsidy, there wouldn't have been protests.
The bolded is fallacy. Going by INEC results, when you add all the votes for Atiku, Obi and other parties, they are far more than Tinubu's votes. Infact only 36.6% voted for Tinubu while remaining 63.4% didn't vote for him and that represents people who did not want him to be president. Nobody is talking about this enough. This is exactly the selfishness that has never happened in Nigeria before that made Tinubu and APC won the presidency. I’m the most serious advocate of anti-Tinubu, but he won the election free and fair. We go wise next time. |

While some are genuinely hungry for change, others are merely hungry for attention. The empty pot is a perfect metaphor for the empty promises these protests bring. Instead of uniting to build, we are busy parading our woes for the world to see. When will we learn that no amount of noise will fill those pots if the leaders remain deaf to our cries? ifytrik: I don't understand what this people mean by we can not pay 70 thousand naira minimum wage, is it that the institution managed by this workers are unproductive or what? If yes then why run an institution that is not productive? Just for employment sake? The main reason people choose private school over government school today is not because their are no learned teachers in government schools, as a matter of fact their are more qualified teachers in government schools than private, the problem is, this government schools just like any other government institution in the country are not properly managed, most government school teachers only attend classes once or twice in a week, same with headmasters and principals, who will punish the teachers for not attending classes? Is it the principal that's also at home? Or the Education ministry workers that are also at home? The problem of Nigeria is nobody is ready to carry out his duty, majority of the so-called workers that are clamouring for minimum wage increase are not doing their work. To solve this problems once and forever, any political office holder that is underperforming should be voted out, any voter that collect bribe before casting his or her vote should be giving one hundred strokes of cain, any institution that is not productive should be scrapped and workers that are not performing their duties properly should be laid of. This is the main thought entering my head when I hear ‘pay salary’ and ‘minimum wage’. It almost look like our government workers are getting compensation for being Nigerians and not salary for doing an actual result-oriented job. |

DeLaRue: I am in a South West state for an assignment.
There is zero talk of protests here. People are mostly not interested.
I think there's more protest talk going on online that in the real world.
Abuja, and some states will have a few protests here and there, but in many states, it will be mostly business as usual.
People underestimate how much an average citizen fear the ruthlessness of Nigerian police and the armed forces in a riot scenario.
You might say it would be a peaceful protest, but once you gather with strangers you know nothing about, you'll not have a say in whether things remain peaceful or riotous.
All you need for things to go from good to bad is just one protester throwing a stone or object that lands on a Police man that draws blood. Another exasperated police may, in that instant, fire a live bullet, and in the process down one or 2 protesters. Then all hell breaks loose, in a flash.
It is not worth it. Stay away. Unfortunately for some people, it is actually worth it. It is the last resort. You may not see it that way. But there’s nothing you can do to stop a person from fighting for their lives. |

Faiththatworks: NNPCL is mad and crazy. Whoever gave this suggestions about NNPCL being an offtaker is just trying with another format to bring back subsidy. NNPCL is the worst government organisation In the last 10 years, I'm not a tribalistic man but I believe those Hausa and Fulani people have totally failed at NNPCL. Asiwaju must use his nepotistic tendencies in cleansing the clueless and parasitic Fulani and Hausa elements in that organization. How can the clueless Fulani and Hausa elements in that organization still be in charge eight months after they told us the Port-Harcourt Refinery will start working, how they are still employed really baffles me. I believe there's a simple solution to cheap fuel in Nigeria, especially from Dangote Refinery. Instead of the parasitic element in NNPCL paying for subsidy on Refined fuel, they should subsidize the crude oil. No Kobo should be paid to Dangote in the form of subsidizing refined products, let the NNPCL and the dirty cabal in the organization give Dangote the local crude production at a discounted rate and fix the price of Refined products but the thieves in NNPCL will never go that route. If Asiwaju doesn't sack these criminals in NNPCL then I believe he's a direct benefit of the economic crime they are commiting against their All this time, you think Tinubu doesn’t know this. Dangote refinery is going to reveal alot of underground stuff going on here. Just watch. |

Both of them will end up achieving nothing significant. Obi's protest will be another flop, just like his presidential ambition. When will he learn that shouting on the streets doesn't equate to real change? If he spent half the energy he uses for protests on actual governance when he had the chance, maybe we wouldn’t be in this mess. Protesting won't change the fact that he lost the election. Peter Obi losing the Presidential elections has nothing to do with what people are protesting for. What is really enough for those of you defending this useless government? Look at ASUU. Government succeeded in registering another academic union thereby reducing the influence of ASUU and till today they cannot get their demand.
I would like to appeal to our Yoruba brothers to take it easy with this tribalism because last last it will consume all of us while the politicians will be laughing. By the way politicians are united and have no tribalism among themselves. I’m not Yoruba o, if anything at all, I’m closer to Igbos than them. I hear Ibo a bit because I schooled at UNIZIK, but this your message should be delivered to Igbos. That ‘us against the world mentality’ is always making Igbos feel oppressed and so, tend to unknowingly unite to fight against every tribe in Nigeria, which is not even possible. That unity is destroying the chances of a good man like Obi and it is upsetting me. Shun tribalism because some few Yorubas are enjoying this battle and using it to turn other sensible Yorubas against Igbos. I’ve told you guys. Ignore any tribalistic statement or action from the few idiots from the South West and they will stop using it to their advantage. Nobody can shame you with what you’re not ashamed of. |

Majority of the comments made are simply political/Tribal statements to condemn Tinubu.
Anyone wondering what the August protest is all about? But this is also a problem na. The fact that you can’t see that the root of this issue traces back to FG is a very big problem on its own.
