Codedboy95:

Getting first job on upwork is not always easy.

These might be some of the Reason, you don't make it to interview.

1) You are probably applying to big jobs: as a new freelancer on upwork start by applying to smaller, quick jobs ( $5 ,$10, $15 ). The reason because nobody will trust a new freelancer with little or no review on a big job over freelancers who have a lot of reviews, feedbacks. So start with small jobs, reduce your hourly rates as time goes on you can gradually increase your hourly rate and also apply to bigger Jobs

2) You haven't added portfolio, relevant skills or your bio isn't well written: you should take hints from other freelancers in your niche to make your profile, add relevant skills and also take upwork readiness test ( to get a rising talent badge which will increase your chances of getting a job)

3) You are probably applying to jobs which have a lot of applicants: I always advice new freelancers starting up on upwork to only apply to jobs which have less 10 applicants. It's a complete waste of time applying to a job with 20 or more applicants, chances of getting the job will be very low. Free tip smiley always be the first 5 to apply to jobs and for me most of the jobs I have gotten is when the indians are asleep (midnight cheesy )

4) Client is already interviewing someone on the job you applied to: This is another tip don't apply to jobs that shows that the client is already interviewing someone, in my experience with upwork I will say that there is a 70% chance that a client will hire someone s/he is already interviewing. So applying to such jobs is a complete waste of time.

5) Applying to jobs which the client has a low hire rate: this is another thing to look out for on upwork, some clients there just post jobs without having motive of hiring anybody. Some of them just think of an idea and create a job posting but they never come back to that job. So my advice is to always check clients hire rate before applying. For me, I apply to jobs which shows that the client has an hire rate of 40% above.

6) Applying to job that have clients with unverified payment method: Okay you can take this advice if you want to, in my years working with upwork I have never gotten a job from a client with unverified payment method, to me most of them are not serious, if they were, they will have added a payment method, don't get be wrong I didn't say it's a waste of time lol, I actually know a friend that got a job from a client who didn't add a payment method, so I am not saying it's useless applying to such jobs but for me it's useless :|

7) Your niche is too competitive or not favourable for your Nigerian Flag: example of niche which new freelancers may have difficult time succeeding at is anything that deals with writing, most clients on upwork believe Africans can't be good writers, my advice for people on this niche is get jobs offline, ask your offline client to hire and give you a good review on upwork, by the time you have 3-4 reviews your chances of getting jobs with be higher. This also applies to people on other niche, if you are having a hard time getting job do what I said above, that was how I got my first job on upwork.

I hope I will be able to help someone with this, sorry about the typos it's been long I typed this long on my phone

To avoid scams on Upwork, follow these tips:

Research Clients: Check a client's profile thoroughly. Look for verified payment methods and reviews from other freelancers.

Communicate Clearly: Clarify project details, deadlines, and payment terms upfront. Any reluctance or vagueness from the client could be a red flag.

Use Upwork's Payment System: Stick to Upwork's payment system to ensure your financial transactions are secure and protected.

Watch for Warning Signs: Be cautious of clients who ask for free work, request personal information outside of Upwork, or offer unusually high pay for simple tasks.

Trust Your Instincts: If something feels off, trust your gut instinct and consider declining the offer or ending the contract.

Verify Identity: Upwork offers identity verification services for both freelancers and clients. Utilize these to ensure legitimacy.

Read Upwork's Guidelines: Familiarize yourself with Upwork's guidelines and policies to understand your rights and responsibilities as a freelancer.

Stay Informed: Keep up-to-date with the latest scam trends and tips by reading Upwork's blog and community forums.

By being vigilant and proactive, you can significantly reduce the risk of falling victim to scams on Upwork.

Programming / Replace Unreal Engine 5 Default First Person Character In Seconds by Konetech: 8:43pm On Feb 22

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLKZUtEuhTE
Replacing the default first-person character in Unreal Engine 5 can be done relatively quickly. Here's a basic overview of the steps:

Prepare Your New Character: Ensure your new first-person character is set up and ready to be imported into Unreal Engine 5. This might involve creating or obtaining a character model, animations, and any necessary textures or materials.

Import Your Character: In Unreal Engine 5, go to the Content Browser and import your character assets by either dragging them in or using the import function.

Set Up Character Blueprint: Create a new Blueprint based on the default first-person character Blueprint. You can do this by right-clicking in the Content Browser, selecting Blueprint Class, and choosing Pawn. Then, choose the First Person Character as the parent class.

Replace Mesh and Animations: In the Blueprint editor, find the components representing the default first-person character's mesh and animations. Replace these with your new character's mesh and animations.

Adjust Settings: Depending on your new character's size and animations, you may need to adjust settings such as collision, camera position, and movement parameters to ensure everything works correctly.

Test: Finally, test your new character in the game to ensure it behaves as expected. Make any necessary adjustments until you're satisfied with the result.

By following these steps, you should be able to replace the default first-person character in Unreal Engine 5 with your own character relatively quickly.

Lion's Mane, myrrh gum, and oat straw are often touted for their potential cognitive benefits. Lion's Mane contains compounds that may support nerve growth factor, which is important for brain health. Myrrh gum has been used traditionally for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, which could indirectly benefit brain function by reducing inflammation. Oat straw is rich in antioxidants and may help support healthy circulation, which is important for delivering nutrients to the brain. While these substances have some potential benefits, it's essential to approach any supplementation with caution and consult with a healthcare professional before adding them to your routine. Additionally, addressing lifestyle factors like diet, exercise, and sleep can also play a significant role in improving brain efficiency.

Yes, you can learn Unreal Engine 5 (UE5) without prior knowledge of C++. UE5 provides visual scripting tools like Blueprints, which allow you to create gameplay mechanics, UI, and other elements without writing any code. However, to fully utilize UE5's capabilities and to create more complex projects, learning C++ will be beneficial. There are plenty of resources available online to help you learn both UE5 and C++.

Programming / How To Use Multiple Cameras For A CGI Project by Konetech: 7:34pm On Jan 23

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dq8THlmD-vw
To use multiple cameras for a CGI (Computer-Generated Imagery) project, you can follow these general steps:

Camera Placement:

Strategically position each physical camera in your real-world setup to capture different perspectives of the scene.
Calibration:

Ensure all cameras are calibrated to have consistent settings, such as focal length, exposure, and white balance. This helps in seamless blending of CGI elements.
Syncing:

Synchronize the timing of all cameras to capture frames simultaneously. This is crucial for accurate alignment during post-production.
Data Management:

Organize and label footage from each camera properly for easy identification during the editing process.
Scene Tracking:

Use tracking markers or feature points in the real-world scene to assist in aligning CGI elements with the live footage later on.
Post-Production:

Bring all camera footage into your CGI software (e.g., Blender, Maya, or others).
Align the footage using the tracking data to match the CGI elements with the live action.
Compositing:

Blend the CGI elements seamlessly with the live footage using compositing techniques. Pay attention to lighting, shadows, and reflections to enhance realism.
Color Grading:

Ensure a consistent color grade across all footage to maintain visual coherence.
Rendering:

Render the final composite with all the integrated CGI elements.
Review and Adjust:

Review the final output and make necessary adjustments to achieve the desired look.
Remember that the specifics can vary based on the software you're using and the complexity of your CGI project.
