https://www.premiumtimesng.com/opinion/691949-a-high-society-wedding-in-aba-1931-by-tayo-agunbiade.html
A careful analysis of the wedding picture doesn't show that it's in tandem with 1931 dress culture. For years now, I've seen and studied a lot of worldwide photographs in the archives from the 1800s to the 1980s and there is a distinct flavor of dressing in each decade (with some hairstyles and dress styles reappearing decades later though)... The mini-skirts and mini-dresses of the 1960s to the 1970s, made a resurgence in the late 1990s to the 2000s for example. The classic "Oleku," a popular Yoruba mini-wrapper or midi-wrapper with the buba top of the 1970s also made a fantastic come back in the 2000s.

I love these kinds of historic stories but MORE information is needed on how Premium Times got that wedding picture to ensure that they do NOT end up spreading FABRICATED news that other wannabe bloggers end up copying.

PressMyButton:
Bitter Obi is fond of lashing onto rumours he reads in newspapers without confirming. How does he know the were deported and of Osun origin?. Both Lagos and Osun governors have denied deporting or receiving any deportees. Bitter Obi should try and verify reports before making a fool of himself.
He's indeed an impulsive FOOL because earlier today, I read that the Governor of the State of Osun, said his brother, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos State denied knowing about any relocation of Osun indigenes from Lagos to Osun as first reported by a so-called online publication. It definitely might be a false rumor since Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu denied such an event.

It's time for the FG and States to hold online and offline publishers of FAKE news accountable for defamatory posts. The governments have NOT shown seriousness in tackling this huge menace that can easily destabilize democracy and governance in any country. Period.

[Throwback]

On 21st of December, 2023, the leadership of the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources held ANOTHER stakeholder meeting with Honourable member representing Kosofe 1 State Constituency at @lshaofficial, Hon. Sanni Ganiyu, and the property owners of structures built on the alignment of System 1 midstream (Odo Iyalaro - Mende - Ojota - Ogudu reach) following several other meetings held previously.

Here (video attached), the property owners confirmed that they do not have valid documents and have been served several contravention notices.

The Ministry have always engaged stakeholders and give notices before any action is taken.

Please do everything you can to watch the short clip above. Listen to what the residents said and listen to what the commissioner said.
A very insightful video.

This Yemi Alade girl is just trying to be politically correct with her uninformed rants in the video here. I detest it when people like this speak ignorantly without having FACTS and hence mislead their online followers and the public. Everything she said in the video was absolute B.S.

She got an appropriate response, from Jubril Gawat there with all the evidence showing that many people she was defending in that video were warned earlier going to 3 years now for contravening the building codes and building on non-government approved lands.

In 2004 my company renovated multiple facilities across lagos. The then hod was pally with people in town planning and did upgrades/renovations without approval. Fast forward to 2012,we wanted to do a fresh set of upgrades. Where are your old approvals. No where to be found. We paid for the approvals and paid penalties.

On one project one of my supervisors wanted to extend beyond our boundary. It was literally taxi drivers who strated threatening him. They said they knew where the boundary was and they would go to local govt

On this same project we extended into the right of way. A year later lasbca came after us and made us take down the structures within right of way.

Contraventions and cutting of corners and trying to be smart all come with a caveat - you are always at risk with no source of legal redress.

You may get away with it if your contravention is not constituting a nuisance. But when you are literally causing floods, deaths, property and environmental damage to others?

These people should be happy lasg is not suing then for gross negligence, environmental pollution, involuntary manslaughter and aggravated property damage.

Maybe that needs to be done so people can understand
Tbh, the last two paragraphs of yours clearly sum up what has to be done. Lagos State has the smallest land area among the states in Nigeria and yet these contraventions have been taking place relentlessly right from the decades of Military rule till this period. People have to start getting punished to serve as a deterant to others.

You be old Mende boy. I remember those days in secondary school. That kpako bridge that linked Mende to Ojota. That's where we used to cross when going to Ojota. I don't like the sandfiling. I remember cedato bakery owner who built a high rise building near the canal and the house entered the ground leaving only the top floor. My beautiful Mende has been destroyed.
@The bolded.

Omo! shocked

"A high rise building near the canal sank into the ground leaving ONLY the top floor."

@FireUpNow, how many floors was the high rise building owned by the Cedato Bakery owner?

Folks must learn punishing lessons from here on out due to lack of due diligence.

Mende wey I know like the back of my hand.

Many built houses that later sank into the ground.

Pako bridge linking Mende at Ajose street to Ojota, used to have a house that only the top window of the 1st floor was still above the ground. It eventually got demolished and the mechanics around there expanded their workshop over it.

All the canal pathway within Mende has been turned into one estate or the other. In those days, you will stand on the ground near the swamp area of Mende, and the ground will be bouncing.

Same thing applied to Arowojobe Estate in Mende, but people kept on sandfilling the swamps and building houses like no man's business.

Gone are the days Alligators used to be found in the canal areas of Mende
That's interesting. The bolded paragraphs indeed give cause for concern if the natural canal pathways have been blocked, I guess right from the 1970s. The Arowojobe Estates history of evolution in intriguing as well from being reclaimed from soggy swampland.

Indeed, crocs and huge pythons still exist in the swampy deep valley that crisscrosses the Maryland axis leading to the back of Sheraton Hotel in between Opebi then bursting out between Allen Avenue and Kudirat Abiola Way, Oregun, Ikeja down to the Omole Estate axis.

Matter of fact, crocs were discovered in the same swampland continuum at the posh Omole Estate Phase 2 in 2014, and at River View Estate in Isheri directly on the Ogun and Lagos States border.

What remains of the swamplands in Lagos and Ogun States are the vestiges of the vast forests that existed before massive deforestations started taking place for housing and road constructions over the decades.

There were major incidents of flooding in the Mende and Aboru areas in 2020, 2021 and 2022 and the Lagos State Government subsequently issued contravention orders to owners of properties that had encroached on the right of way of the System 1 Canal, a canal that is a very important drain on the Mainland.

Contravention notices were issued in 2021, 2022 and 2023.

Late in 2023 the residents, accompanied by the representative at the Lagos House of Assembly went to see the Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources. The Special Adviser to the Governor on the Environment was also at the meeting.

At that meeting the residents admitted that they had been served contravention notices since 2021.

However, a singer, Yemi Alade, recently said that the residents were only given 2 hours notice before their properties were demolished. This thread documents all the events, beginning from the floods.

You are both wrong and right at the same time. Let me tell you why.

You are right for allowing things to end. But you are soo wrong for a host of other reasons.

First, this kind of girl is what I call Drama Divas. These kind of girls will be the sweetest and worst kind in a relationship

I was going to write a thread on them and the best ways to handle them. But I couldn't due to time. Maybe if I did, and you read it... would have saved you from making costly mistakes

Let me guess...

At the start, this girl was so sweet to you. She was loving, respectful, submissive. She confessed her feelings to you. Told you how much she loved you. Showed you care and affection.

She said you were the best thing that ever happened to her. She complimented you a lot on your good qualities. She'd call to check up on you and wanted to spend time with you.

Then all of a sudden she changed...

Her love bombing dropped out of nowhere. She promised to change but never really did.

And because this was your first time with this kind of girls.. you were caught off guard. Then, you made the biggest mistake of all: You begged

You see, these Drama Divas are in a special category of 3 kinds of girls. The other two are: Daddy issue girls and girls with a history of toxic bfs or relationships

The worst thing you can do with these girls is to make them feel they "have" you or beg them to stay with you

Why?

Because all their lives they're the ones begging. Begging for their dad to come back. Begging not to be abandoned.

So when as a man you do the Begging She starts doubting her love for you. Because that's not what she's really used to.

The thing is this girl isn't a wicked person or a nonsense girl. She's damaged. Life doesn't come with a manual on how to handle relationships

She's only reacting based on how life and people she cared about treating her.

She isn't consciously trying affect your mental health. It's her subconscious taking over based on what she's experienced

If you dig through her past... you'll notice a history of abandonment. This has made her the way she is.

You should have just let her go. And advise her to seek therapy (do NOT save her yourself)

You're not the only guy neither is that guy. There are others. So it's pointless chatting up other guys

Keep an eye out for my thread on this. Because these group of girls are very common among these gen z girls

I've personally encountered more than 10 of them.

They will make you feel so special. Hype up your ego... then along the line they start throwing drama, tests and challenges to drain you.

You'll be great if she never feels you're completely hers. And if you can control your emotions and not overreact

The general goal tho, is to never date them. Rather, keep them as friends with benefits or fùck buddies till they move on to marriage
I've always emphasized to younger folks or clueless men out there to NEVER try to change a woman from her set ways out of pity and stay away from drama queens. Some just don't listen until they get burned badly!

It's universally apt to quickly separate "daddy's girls" from "drama queens." ONLY date and get married to a woman who has a good relationship with her father, i.e., a daddy's girl. Watch out for females who say negative things about men and their fathers... That's a significant red flag. Period.

You can call me wicked, I don't care, this lady messed up my mental health badly while still gaslighting me,I was trauma-bond . At a point she start making it obvious she's out of the relationship, I literally want to die and she cares less, then I noticed its because of a guy she's tagging her friend she's giving those mad silly attitudes, she starts shouting at me things she doesn't do before, ghosting my status, I even begged and begged this lady is manipulating me.

Then I did the unthinkable I digged out the guy's number, through some connections, I told him how the girl came to spend days with me after she left his place, she's my girlfriend Bla bla bla.

Before I did all these I told her, she begged me heaven and earth but I didn't bulge, I just saved the guy from falling in love with a narcissist and hookup babe.

I was surprised she's asking for mercy when she doesn't have any to give. NONSENSE GIRL.

This girl has master the act of seducing men, through love bombing to make you become so attached to her, luckily for the guy he told me he's starting to like her and see her differently, but I told him with concrete evidence she's just painting a false pic of herself...

I'm satisfied 😌

Can't post all chats but the chats was very long.

Did I do wrong?

She wicked me,I just do my own back...and they guy even loved the chat he had with me.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: My Terrible Experience Applying For A High Paying Remote Job by Konquest: 1:29pm On May 06
BucketMan:
I don't know if some of you might remember this thread i made https://www.nairaland.com/8006821/should-go-masters-degree-remai where i contemplated going for a masters degree instead of remaining jobless at home. Well after assimilating all the advice i got from that thread, i decided to kill two birds with one stone and apply for the masters degree while also getting a laptop to start an online business in writing and copywriting which is where my passion lies.

Shortly after i got the laptop i found a creative writing opportunity via reddit and applied. One of the requirements for the job was to have a really fast typing speed (minimum of 60 words per minute). I just got my laptop so my typing speed was really slow but i resolved to increase it by practicing daily for a month and i grew from 35wpm to 62wpm which the job required.

That was just the beginning, the recruitment process for the job was done through a platform called Discord and they had a specific writing style that they wanted to inculcate in the applicants via daily trainings after which you will have to pass some exams. I started actively training for about a month and felt i was confident enough to take the intro exam, which i did and performed excellently so i moved on to the last stage.

Now this is where things got kind of complicated because this last stage required me to share my laptop screen in real time, kinda like a video call and prepare creative writing scripts for different scenarios that will be provided also in real time. The session was supervised by the recruiters and would last for 4 hours. I was fully locked in and confident in all that i had already learnt from training, However, the time for the test came and i was given a resource to download that i would use in writing these scripts. After downloading, setting it up on my laptop and then hopping on the live video call with the supervisors, i could not for the life of me get it to run efficiently, it was extremely slow and kept giving me a connection error feedback, I use MTN 4G and can't believe that the network chose that moment to start acting up. I still don't know if the real culprit is my laptop (2017 hp elitebook) or MTN network but after i switched to 3g and tried to hop back on the call to apologize to the supervisors for having a network glitch, i realized they had already blocked me, so i wasn't even given a chance to showcase my skills and this is what pains me most.

This is the reason that was given: "poor internet on a remote job, i'm sorry but it cannot work".

I'm so devastated, all the effort, time and resources invested into becoming a perfect fit for the job has been washed away in a blink. Now, i'm back home in my mom's house, in shame and defeat, with less than #1k to my name having used all my savings to get the laptop and for data subscriptions. I'm just lost on what to do right now, i have been admitted but i can't even go for the masters i applied for anymore and i was thinking to myself that even though i had gotten the job, how would i have kept up with the 8 hours per shift work schedule when there is very epileptic power supply where i live.

Is success still possible in Nigeria for those that are still struggling? or are we all doomed to fail again and again, especially for those of us looking to succeed online. I'm 26 atm and i don't know how long this will continue, it's just like all the forces of nature are working against me being rich and successful. Where can i find the motivation to search for something else to do in order to be productive when everything always ends in failure? is there even anything else to do?

Sorry for the long post, just thought i should share my experience and this is like the only platform that i can vent due to not really having anyone to talk to irl.
You definitely need a faster and more reliable Internet service. In the best case scenario here, satellite Internet connectivity, though more expensive, would be the OK for this kind of scenario. With satellite Internet connectivity, you can communicate with anyone in the world from remote areas outside the major city centres.

Keep truckin'.

Cheers.

Politics / Re: FG Approves Downward Review Of Tariff For Band A Electricity Consumers by Konquest: 1:17pm On May 06
Wisdomkosi:

The Federal Government has approved a downward review in electricity tariff for Band A customers(Those with a daily supply of minimum of 20 hours).

Under the approved review,Band A customers who hitherto were charged N225/Kwh are now to pay N206.80/Kwh.

The decision to crash the tariff may not be unconnected with public outcry over the increase in electricity which industry observers, CSOs, labour unions have described as insensitive.

Already, electricity distributors are sending the reduction notice to their customers.

In a notice to its customers on Monday, Ikeja Electric said “Please be informed of the downward tariff review of our Band A feeders from N225/kwh to N206.80/kwh effective 6th May 2024 with guaranteed availability of 20-24hrs supply daily.

”The tariff for Bands B, C, D, and E remains unchanged.”

It’s no longer news how Dollar is skyrocketing in our Economy Nigeria Today, and the Devaluation of our Naira, well I’ll like to share my own 2percent on the situation.

Considering the fact that Nigeria only spends naira, But the availability of dollars to some, in the economy is Devastating. These are the Big business corps, BDC’s operators and Particularly the Government. The reason for our currency devaluation, here I’ll tell you now..I’m an economist and a part time forex trader, so believe it what I’m telling is true.

The Cbn exchange dollar thru the Bureau d change to the public, the way they do it, is By releasing Dollars to particular registered BDC traders as they claim, Dollars is released to this Individuals to sell to the General public daily, What these people do is, they sell at a particular rate and increase the rate so as to Have some dollars left in stock, By hoarding them, They come back to the bank next day and deposit naira, Saying Demand of Dollars is High, Next day collecting of dollars take place in the Bank again, the bank doesn’t have a choice than to increase the rate cos the rate of return is Low in Value, Definitely business has been done and profit has been made. The issue is Why can’t the CBN put a stop to Street Trading, Aboki’s calling people dollar, dollar on the streets and Devise a Means of Transaction using the Bank for Transparency while Dealing thru the Accounts of the BDC’s, this way you can avoid Laundering of money, illegal transactions and Consumption of embarassed Government funds, Most Politicians in Abuja prefer to use the Bureau d change cos it’s a seamless way of Transaction, No one can hold you, No amount is too much, Infact the bigger the amount the Better they friends with you. Street transaction of Dollars is still the same as Spending dollars in the economy. You won’t see other Countries allowing other currencies to be Transferable in the Streets, We have to put a stop to this Menace if we want to save this Country from Collapsing cry , Using Debts to hold the naira is not the way, Defunding the Banks of Dollar deposits is not the way, Defunding the crypto holders is not even the way, We have to let Transparency and Records take control of the Exchange system, Not in the streets, But banks. Slots can be made Available for Preferable BDC’s Vendors, And Stop Doing Business with the Economy undecided

OLAADEGBU:

Yemi Alade kicks against house demolition in Lagos

Singer Yemi Alade has berated the Lagos State Government over the recent demolition of some houses in Maryland.

The 'Johnny' crooner lamented that the Government was making life more difficult for citizens by rendering them homeless overnight.

She also said the ongoing demolition in the state was affecting the real estate sector negatively, adding that it is driving investors away.

Speaking in a video message shared via her Instagram account, Alade said: "Lagos State, what's going on? Does it make sense that people will invest millions of naira and dollars into real estate; buy houses and lands and the State Government will demolish the place and render people homeless overnight?

"This thing is happening repeatedly. Right now, Maryland, Mende area is on fire. People are sleeping in their houses, waking up the next day, homeless."

"You're ruining the real estate value of the state and country, making people lose trust not only just in the idea of Nigeria but lose hope entirely in the little coins they saved to make their lives worthwhile. How is this okay? Why why?"

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Commissioner of Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, has explained the reason for the ongoing demolition of houses in Mende, Maryland and other parts of the State.

According to him, the houses being demolished were built on drainage channels.

On his social media handle, Wahab wrote: "We also visited Mende Villa, Maryland where the Developer initially claimed there was a drainage approval on the property. The Directors who were in the know of what transpired at the time, were invited to speak on the issue but confirmed that the Developer was given temporary and conditional approval to leave a 20m setback from the edge of System 1 but he encroached on the setback thereby obstructing the flow of rainwater."

"However, by the magnanimity of Governor @jidesanwoolu, the ROW was approved to be reduced to 100 meters from 140 and spread on a 60/40 basis ( 60 Mende /40 Ogudu) instead of the initial 140 sitting on the Mende side. The instruction to immediately continue the removal of all structures on the alignment has been given to the enforcement team after the 1st notice to remove was served on them in 2021 and the last notice was served in November 2023 after the meeting with the stakeholders."

DailyPost
Yemi's entire post makes absolutely NO SENSE.
She just jumped online and allowed the herd mentality to push her into writing about what she has NO full knowledge about! She must learn to NOT open her mouth to talk about what she doesn't know as it has made her look HIGHLY irresponsible here for supporting lawlessness!

The OP's post is very balanced as it places Yemi's highly uninformed post side-by-side with the ACCURATE situation of what happened at the Mende area of Maryland, Lagos State.

Even after being warned about encroaching on drainage setbacks, the idiots who Yemi was emotionally supporting all over Lagos State failed to listen and violated the building laws by encroaching on non-government approved lands and drainage setbacks.

For the insidious creep and emotional male weakling who posted on page one of this thread boasting (and engaging in SCAREMONGERING) that Lagos State's real estate will collapse because he and his so-called ethnic people are divesting, good luck to them and good riddance to nonsense! Lagos State's real estate can NEVER fade as there is a massive Diaspora of savvy Yoruba folks in the U.S., Canada, UK, Germany, France, Cote d'Ivoire, Ghana, etc, who have huge real estate investments in the Lagos region currently and will continue to invest while following laid down building codes or rules. As an international business hub with the Lekki Free Trade Zone, Lekki Deep Seaport, IT hubs, and more, Lagos State will continue to attract well-meaning Nigerians such as Aliko Dangote and foreign expats in the short, medium and long-term. naptu2:
Ben Murray-BruceTalks About the Lagos-Calabar Highway.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nIA01B-8vqU?si=PunEAxf0y1Q6nR10

A new era in Nigeria’s transportation history has begun. A 700 kilometre Lagos-Calabar coastal highway, with feeder roads joining it from different parts of the country is being built by the present administration and this is proof of the transformative power of visionary leadership by President Bola Tinubu, who has put the present minister ot works, David Umahi, a man of unwavering dedication at the helm of affairs.

Starting from Lagos, Calabar, Ogun and Akwa-Ibom, simultaneously it will traverse the beautiful landscapes of Ondo, Bayelsa, Rivers, before culminating in the historic city of Calabar.

With its cutting edge technology and innovative design, this highway will slash travel times, reduce transportation costs and increase access to markets and resources. It will be a game changer for entrepreneurs, investors and travelers and unlock new opportunities and boost economic growth.

As we embark on this journey, we are not just building a highway, President Bola Tinubu is crafting a legacy of prosperity and growth. The Lagos-Calabar Highway will be a lifeline for business, a catalyst for economic development and a symbol of hope for a brighter future.

And this is why it is surprising that some disgruntled people are opposing this project and I would suggest that such enemies of progress should not ply the road when it is completed and stick to the old, long and treacherous routes.

President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to this project is a beacon of hope for our nation.

As we celebrate this milestone, we must recognise that this project is not just a feat of engineering, but a triumph of our collective potential. So let us join hands and support Minister Dave Umahi and his team as they embark on this magnificent scheme.

My name is Ben Murray-Bruce and I just want to make common sense.

Ben Murray-Bruce made a lot of succinct points there.

The Ijaw nationalist, Chief Edwin Clark and even the Governors of the South of South States who met for the yearly BRACED Commission meeting in Yenagoa collectively thanked the current administration led by President Bola Tinubu for commencing the construction of the Lagos to Calabar Coastal highway just 2 days ago.

Over 95 percent of those attacking this project on Nairaland and on all the online and offline platforms are Ibos especially from Anambra and a few nearby Ibo States. The few non-Ibos who are criticizing this are NOT well-informed or clueless about what is really going on in the sense that while the Lagos to Calabar Coastal Highway construction continues, other roads are being constructed and reconstructed even in the South East.

The FG under Dave Umahi's Ministry hasn't said there is NO money to fix the bad roads. The roads are already gradually being fixed, but the evil forces who do NOT want progress for other sections of Nigeria are the ones spreading FABRICATED posts and calling for the cancellation of the project simply because the road isn't passing through the South East yet. One of them could not hide his bias here on NL and the emotional weakling bluntly revealed on one of the threads that the Lagos to Calabar Coastal Highway should have passed through the South East. The is a very deep case of ethnic bigotry, envy and narcissism laced with semi-literacy!

For those who have criticized this project, they should NOT even be allowed by the host communities (where this Lagos to Calabar Coastal Highway would pass through) to invest in land or infrastructure anywhere near this project when the construction is finished. Just as Ben said, they can also use another route since they don't like the project.

The level of narcissism among these people stinks! The same thing happened last year, 2023 when the 18-year-old school girl called Mmesoma from Anambra State was caught after FORGING her JAMB result with the connivance of her father in order to apply for a scholarship she did NOT deserve from a company. When the JAMB boss Olojede came up with pure evidence to show that this girl is a cheat, the emotional and overbearing male and female creeps from her ethnic group came up crying about Ibos being marginalized and relentlessly kept defending her and even insulting the JAMB boss and his Yoruba ethnic group and the Islamic religion that he practices. All the evidence of hate speech are still online and offline. It was forensic evidence from Mmesoma's phone and mobile phone service provider or company that showed that her authentic JAMB result was sent to her phone, and that was how the SHAMELESS girl came out to confess and starting apologizing on video for telling insidious LIES to the world!

Kudos to Ben Murray-Bruce for his insights here.

Nigeria is on lease at rock bottom prices. .... open to exploitation pushed as foreign investment. They should say what he is bringing to the table in exchange for what. Maybe citizenship at a price?... a safe haven for looters?
There's a worldclass tourism industry in Antigua and Barbuda, just like in Grenada, the Bahamas and Barbados. Antigua also serves as a hub for offshore banking and international business. There's also the descendants of Africans who were taken on slave schooners to the Caribbean Islands.

Therefore, Lagos State has a lot to learn from Antigua in the field of tourism and international business or international finance.
Many countries that depended on tourism got negatively impacted during the horrendous COVID-19 lockdowns. So, a lot firsthand info can be learned by the Lagos State government in trying to implement a more robust tourism industry.

Babajide Sanwo-Olu rose to the very senior position of a Bank Treasurer (before he was poached from the private sector to the public sector as the first boss of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund). He therefore knows the importance of tourism and the financial sector.

Today, at a meeting with the Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, Hon. Gaston Alfonso Browne, I mentioned that our administration will partner with Antigua and Barbuda in entertainment, arts, culture, and technology.

I emphasized the potential for collaboration due to our shared interests and highlighted the importance of technology in breaking boundaries and fostering economic growth.

The Prime Minister also expressed readiness to collaborate with Lagos State in trade and investments, aiming to strengthen the relationship between our regions for shared growth and development.

They're leaving in droves, disposing of their assets. If this isn't backwardness I wonder what it is. Nigeria isn't the largest economy in Africa anymore...a point to ponder

What happened to Wil Bros , Solgas assets sold to indigenous companies today after they left?
ExxonMobil and others are NOT leaving Nigeria but going into the more lucrative deep offshore oil production than the lower value onshore or shallow offshore oil fields.

Fraud is embedded in this man's DNA! I recall handling his case files years ago.
Fred Ajudua is also a lawyer. I'm surprised that he has chosen to go south in terms of moral ethics tbh.

What?! Fred Ajudua or his namesake? shocked

If this is true, then it means something is wrong with Fred's internal brain wiring.

Since the late 1980s right through to the 1990s and beyond, I've known Fred (who is also a lawyer) to have been involved in one form of advanced fee fraud after the other. The Ibusa, Delta State, dude's tendency to gravitate towards controversies such as this should be a subject for legal case studies.

Sorry. I slept off early last night.

Yes, the greatest way. If I ever crave fried plantain, I have to eat it hot straight from the fire. Otherwise, it'd be soggy for me and I'd lose interest. I also microwave fried plantain when it's warm or cold. lipsrsealed

Yes yes. You have great taste. kiss Wheat bread is the truth.

Oh that's nice. I'm very careful of street foods cos I have sensitive stomach.

Yeah. My eyes eat first. My main love language is Acts of Service/Gifting. That alone is visual. Seeing is believing right? grin
I also like fine things, fine men etc.

Yes. I know amala made from only unripe plantain. My folks used to buy lots of unripe plantain, sun dry and do the plantain flour thingy.

You're right. Wheat swallow. I ate a bit of wheat swallow in my childhood. I haven't eaten it since then.

Thank you for explaining that. Appreciate it.
@Folake, the pleasure is mine.

I had some prior engagements too, that's why I'm responding to this now.

Hmmh, I can now see one of the major reasons why you gravitated towards becoming a lawyer... "Acts of service." I love that aspect of your LLanguage. However, "A fine woman who is self-motivated, intellectual and a good conversationalist would be a better turn on for me to start with."

Tbh, Jamaican jerk chicken, bunny chow from South Africa, asun OR boli and grilled fish, both from Nigeria, etc, are some of the classic street foods that can be tasted by tourists and locals alike. Street foods reflect the SOUL of a people and can be got from designated clean environs.

You can check out the Website link below to get a flavor of global street foods and see if you're inspired to try any of these food niches when next you travel internationally or domestically for leisure OR maybe even use the idea to complement your source of income down the road (in addition to your law profession as a young lawyer).

Alright then, we'll chat later.

Take care.

The POTUS, Joe Biden is partly correct, though.
There have been instances of xenophobic attacks in India... Even rapes of female tourists in India. In China, some Chinese have been known to cover their nostrils when a person of color comes into a train, etc.

However, I'm not aware of any known xenophobia towards foreigners in modern Japan. Yes, back in the day... Pre-World War 2, the Japanese were brutal towards the citizens of the countries they militarily invaded such as Korea and China.

There's no virtue in being this fat and heavy tbh. Health is indeed wealth.

Two of my all-time favorite rap MCs, HeavyD and Big Pun had this same weight issues back in the day partly leading to their passing on. As of today, my other rap hommies, LL Cool J, Kool Moe Dee, Big Daddy Kane, Ice T, Hammer, etc, are all still going on strong because they keep fit.

My condolences go out to Jason's mother and indeed his entire family on his passing.

I'm sorry if you feel insulted, that was not my intention. Back to the matter, so what's Russias interest in Africa? It definitely can't be resources, so if it's not resources then what?
Influence in my opinion, Russia wants to have more influence and economic trade and to majorly break the influence of reduce the influence of western countries.

Is this good for Africa? Yes it's very good for us because we have not gained anything from the USA if we have kindly point out one economic or infrastructural benefit any African country has gained from the USA?

Russia is pushing the world towards multipolar world order which is what the world needs.
@Jovi10,

Well, let's see how things pan out. Your assertions might actually turn out to be near-accurate down the road.

Just as I stated in my other post on this thread, self-interest, ego and the subtle and sometimes overt application of "soft power" are the motivations for the Western world, Russia, and China.

For instance, the Russians are concerned about the natural gas pipeline construction linking Nigeria to Europe through Niger Republic and Algeria. If it succeeds, it'll take away a significant chunk of the market for Russian natural gas supplies to the rest of Europe. The renewed interest of Russia in Niger Republic could trigger undercover attempts to sabotage that gas pipeline.

Africans must take the lead and be CLEARLY intentional in resolving their issues and not keep hiding behind one White man after the other. The Asian Tigers have liberated themselves from neocolonialism and they are better for it today in terms of military strenght, education and economic power.

Career / Re: Nigerian Army Dismisses Soldier For Having Sex With Colleague’s Wife (photo) by Konquest: 8:22pm On May 05
Gistmedia10:

The Nigerian Army has dismissed a soldier, Abdullahi Ismail after he was found guilty of having sex with his colleague’s wife, SaharaReporters has gathered.

According to multiple sources, the Lance Corporal was dismissed during the week at 231 Battalion in Biu, Borno State.

“The soldier was fired from the Nigerian Army for sleeping with his colleague’s housewife. We’re happy as this will serve as an example to others involved in this act now common in our barracks,” one of the sources said.

Another source added, “Our colleague, Abdullahi has been dismissed at 231 BN Biu. He slept with his regular's wife. So sad.”

The source added that the dismissed soldier had a notorious history of sexual indiscipline before he was reported to the army authorities.

His offence - indecent professional misconduct and having sex with a fellow soldier’s wife - contravenes Sections 79 and 93 of the Armed Forces Act CAP A20, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

The law prescribes jail term and dismissal from service with dishonour.

This comes a few days after the Nigerian Army authorities dismissed two soldiers for stealing armoured cables from the Dangote Refinery, Lagos.

SaharaReporters exclusively reported that the soldiers were caught at Dangote Refinery with 897 armoured cables already cut to size and detained in Lagos on April 14.

Funny you
So, everyone born in the 80s, 90s and 00s are ignorant to you
What condescending arrogance
We all know the role the Soviet Union played in the African independence movement
From Angola, Tanzania, Mozambique, South Africa and the rest
They worked alongside with their Chinese and Cuban allies
I don't support Russian colonization or imperialism but in comparison to the West, the Soviets are way better
The unity beggars here will appreciate the role they played during the Civil War
That's not what I implied. I only referred to SOME uninformed young folks (and we see them relentlessly posting hate speeches and misleading info on NL and other online platforms) born within the decades that I indicated. My youngest brother who is the last born among my siblings was born in 1983 and he has a PhD. There are historical events that happened just before he was born and after he was born that he cannot easily recall, so, I have to explain things to him in details whenever we're having a conversation. So, there are very brilliant folks born within those decades as well, ONLY that there are events that they NEVER fully witnessed or cannot recall because they were not yet born OR were little kids back in the day. Conversely, YouTube is readily available for anyone to gain access to audio and visual images of historical events that occured right up to a little over 100 years ago.

In any event, I absolutely AGREE with your summations about the roles that the Cubans (under Fidel Castro), the Soviet Union (USSR), and China played in arming some communist-inclined African renegades (such as SWAPO and other Southern Africa groups) looking to liberate their countries back in the day (in especially the 1970s to the 1980s in the countries you listed). I still have well kept old magazines from the 1970s and 1980s right in my home library detailing the armed struggles of these Southern Africa groups such as in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) against White discriminatory rule.

Even during the exactly 2 years and 6 months Nigerian Civil War of July 1967 to January 1970, the Soviet Union (USSR) sold up to 17 MiG-17 jet fighters, other Soviet aircraft and several Soviet personnel were sent to train the Nigerian Air Force pilots to counter the rebel secessionists in the Old Eastern Region. Of course, they got favored in the now moribund Ajaokuta Steel Mill project which was geared as of the 1970s to be the biggest of it's kind in the whole of Africa.

I appreciate your feedback here.

Have a great week ahead.
