@ A-town - yeah maybe I am illiterate but I still want to know how this person can get an earlier date for an appointment for someone with his previous booked appointment. And can he change the name on the appointment for another name? according to what I read on condition of cancelling appointment your data will be deleted once you cancel and you can still use your receipt. how is it possible to slot another person in replace of your name or you are going to make another new appointment for future date. Which the person can do by himself as well. Is the receipt of the appointment transferable? you can see much questions may you can help illiterate person like me to answer the question.

yeah I just find out that you need to pay money for an appointment(131$)  but can the person change the name on the apointment date if he cancel and what to rebook? and if he cancel that means he gonna get a new time. I still dont understand how someone can secure appointment for another person for an earlier date. but is it done for other citizen or just in Nigeria?

A-town:
oh oh ooooooooooooooooo. You and your big mouth. I was waiting for the poster to come up with a price/response na. On the real though, from what i heard, these guys actually buy out most of the interview slots. The normal fee to book a date online is 3,500. They will secure several slots. Once you realize you cant get slots because all the days are booked, they'll approach you and ask you to pay a fee if you want a date. (way higher than the 3,500 they spent). Then, they cancel their appointment and slot you in.
Are you telling us here that you have to pay to US embassy in Nigeria in order to book appointment? Is that done anywhere? It will be good if you clarify yourself on that. I just open their embassy website and find out that you do not need to pay money to book appointment. Again will it be possible to change your name after you have made an appointment? Of course, I dont know how the guy will want to book appointment for you. anything is possible in Nigeria but that does not mean that someone who is trying say that the guy is doing wrong now have a big mouth. I guess he is trying to help people like you to be careful on who to give your money. can you prove to us that this guy will surely secure a genuine visa appointment for you.

i'm yet to know any American who does illegal job around, i don't even know any American who is not a tourist.
yeah, there are Americans, Australians and canadians who do illegal work in Europe. Of course they are not much. The person entered europe with tourist visa and search for job. some find a temporary job say 6 months, which the employer will not want to go through the difficulties in obtaining work permit. so the american guy or lady will accept the job and do it with his or tourist visa and as soon as the 90 days tourist visa is about to expire he or she will move to neighbouring eu country and re-enter that country with another 90 days visa to continue his or her job.
Work permit is really not easy to get because in most countries there good number of unemployed people and so not all employers will want to pass throught that difficulties. sure an americans always stand the best chance of getting job in most countries.
I have also seen Americans asking for someone who will just get them registered as a partner so that they will be eligible for work. And of course most of them succeeded in getting married to citizen of EU. (b4 nko!) who dont want to marry an American! lol!
I have met a canadian who has a master degree and was looking for job but couldnt find and in order to survive he has to take odd jobs. which of course he wont have work permit to do. Of course the guy later went back to his country and have a decent job.
yeah I know for Nigeria to change for better it is not coming soon. and so far it is still like this people especially youths will want to leave the country for a better elsewhere.
TravelRe: Are Nigerians Abroad Really Better off Than Their Home Based Counterparts? by kood: 7:59pm On Sep 16, 2009
chaircover:
You cant really generalise on a topic like this and a lot of issues need to be considered.

Your success abroad can depend on the type of visa you travel on, your qualifications, your personality, your background, age etc.

Please bear in mind also that good living is not only what you take home at the end of the month. Good living covers a lot of other areas such as good healthcare, good schools, good infrastructure etc

Agreed, we do pay a lot of bills here, but I am happy to pay them because I can see what the money is spent on.

My son attends one of the best Grammar Schools, I don't pay any school fees but an equivalent quality school in Nigeria will cost a parent millions of Naira each year.

Like for like, I probably spent more on fuel to keep my gen running 24/7 for the 1 week I was in Nigeria 2 weeks ago, than my electricity bill would have cost me over here.

As one poster said; it depends on what you consider good quality of life.
To add to the aboved points because I believe this is the best answer you get here for now; doing better or being better in comparison with people living abroad and home is really a broader issue. There are so many factors you should consider here. examples, luck (if you believe in that), intention/ambition, qualitification, family background, connection, and etc. and I believe with these factors and others you will really find it difficult to compare people living abroad and people living back home.
As Nigeria is it today even when you are rich you are still going to live under much stress and in these case you wont have the basic comfort you may need. Someone living abroad may not really send money home but he or she may feel good and comfortable as chaircover mentioned. the person will believe he has gotten so many things he want in life. Of course, home will always be home.
Neverthless, being comfortable abroad does not mean you not mean that everyone should now go abroad in search of better life. Infact, there are many Nigerians or even other Africans that have been living abroad for so many years that cannot afford their basic needs. and most cases these people travel to the wrong country or are illegal in that country.
At these moment, I will strong advise that is better to stay at home than moving abroad as so many countries are facing economic hardship. So if you wish to travel better know why you wish to travel and what plans do you have for yourself. e.g. do you wish to study abroad, do you want to work and do have work permit, what are you chances of getting job, do you know the country's language and so many other things you must put into consideration before you move to that country.
TravelRe: Is It Too Dangerous To Travel To The East? by kood: 10:26pm On Sep 14, 2009
I cannot believe Nigerians are saying this stuff in an internet that many people can read. But I know that most of the people who are saying to the lady that should not go to Nigeria are either never have white girl visit their village or never come one with any white girl to their village. Can any of you prove that kidnapping is rampant in Eastern part of Nigerian by giving us a website link about a current incident that happen in the eastern part of Nigeria. Or scan a newspaper where he or she read about it.
Even arab countries that have rampant terrorist attack do not ask or say to people that they should not visit their country. It is really pity that I can read these from Nigerians.
I will advise the moderator to delete this thread if he love Nigeria as his country.
Nigeria is never Afghanistan or Iraq or somalia or Indonsia or sudan. And even these countries people still go there as tourist. YOu can only say to anyone visiting troubled regions to be careful and be security conscious and not to visit where she or he likes. There are so many crimes going on in Nigeria but you cannot compare the crime in Nigeria with the crime in south africa or so many countries in south America. Or even some countries in Europe.
I do not want to write more on this thread but I just consider that i should make this final statement on the thread.
if you guys know the message you have passed across other people from other countries. And you cannot tell me you are being honest. Honest here is to be good ambassador of your country. You can tell a visitor to be careful if you think it is not really safe at the moment but not to go there.
I do not want to say my personal experiences here but I will just add here that I do not have security when I was in Nigeria  recently with my woman.
TravelRe: Is It Too Dangerous To Travel To The East? by kood: 12:31pm On Sep 14, 2009
Anambra state is not a dangerous state to be. You are free to go with your husband to Nigeria expect for other reason he do not want you to visit. But as regard to kidnapping, you would not be kidnap by any person. Eastern Nigeria is a peaceful region. there are many other people from other parts of the world that have visited this region with their husband or wife. It is only in the Nigerdelta region that you have this problem even there it is not too risk as always broadcast on TVs or read on newspapers. Because there are still white people in Nigerdelta that works in most oil companies there and it is only a hand few of this people that are being kidnap.
There are only some few rubbery attacks in different part of Nigeria which I think if your husband is careful that will not happen to both of you.
So you should feel free to go to Nigeria with your husband and I bet you, you will enjoy your visit there. You will experience different culture.
I wish you good luck!

@ Dantecmu: Your interview was very simple because you had travelled to a good country before and of course, they shouldn't have problem giving you your visa expect they suspected foul play. I wish you good Luck!
@ suxes2005: If what you said is true then you boss should kindly go to the embassy so that they can cancel the visa or rather prove that he is going to come back after his visit. Otherwise he will be deported from the airport and he will not allow to enter any schengen countries for the next 5 years. Every schengen countries share the same bother control security information and all information both issued visa or rejected visa are shared. It is only if he will be visiting only countries that are not in schengen that allow schengen visa to enter their country. Good luck to him too!

Are you sure about this? I was in Egypt for a week last December and a lot of people could speak English. I guess it depends where you go and with whom you speak with.

Most of the tour guides speak good English as well as the concierges and hotel staff in most hotels.

I thought Egypt was lovely though not exceptional.
Almost everywhere in the world tour guides and hotel employee are meant to speak the most widely spoken language such English and french. they employed them based on the understanding of most common language depends on which country. so you shouldn't use hotel and tourist guide people and hotel employee to know how well a country can speak English especially.
It is only very few people that speaks English in Egypt. Infact, if you should compare Egypt with other countries that non English speaking countries, I will rate Egypt as one of the least countries that speaks English. Arabic is there official language and some accept french as their second language while other accept English as their second language.

This guy may even get Cuba visa because I think Cuba visa is quite easy to get. But the truth is this IS Cuba better than Nigeria. Cuba has a lot of sanctions. why would anyone go to a country like that to live. there citizen are all trying to go away from their country for a better life elsewhere. PLEASE FOR YOU SAKE DONT GO TO CUBA IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A BETTER LIFE. You life in Nigeria is better than those living there. The Ticket money to go to Cuba alone can fetch you good things to do in Nigeria. This is a very good opportunity Nigeria has. You can start small business and be earning your living.
At these moment travelling abroad is not the best option for people except for study. Like someone said in one thread it is not easy to get work permit any country now expect you have one of the CEOs and have a specialized skills. Or you get married to the citizen of that country.
There alot of immigration issues around the global so every country is trying to protect their labour market.
If think of doing illegal business then prepare to die or languish in jail soon. Plus it is not even easy these days to find those illegal business because the network is quite hiden because they dont want to be caught by the law. It is almost the same in every country now.
So my fellow Nigerians why not stay back home for now and find something good to do with the little money you have, I know it is not easy there too. Or you can go to foreign country for the real purpose of studying if you want to study abroad.
TravelRe: How Can I Get Egypt Visa by kood: 11:28am On Sep 09, 2009
it depends on why do the person want to go to egypt. If he is going there to look for job. I am sure he will never find job even if he stay there for 3 years and can speak Arabic. unemployment in egypt is very much that there are no chance for foriegner mostly from africa to come and work expect the poster is a lady. Egypt is the second largest populated country in africa after Nigeria.
So I still strongly dont suggest the person go to egypt if he is going there to look for job.
You can visit as a holiday or other reasons which is best know to him or her.

Hello house, please advice on how someone can get Egyptian Visa, how much is the cost? and how long will it take to get the visa
it depends on your travelling purpose. You can just visit their embassy and tell them you wish to visit their country. You will only need to pay to them their visa fees. I think sometimes they dont require much document from you. perhaps they can ask you few questions about your visit.
But I must advise you if you dont have any genuine reasoning of going to Egypt, dont go there. Of course you can go for visit and come back or business if you have any business to do there. If you are going on the basis of hustling or using it as transit point dont try it. It is not advisable. you may get stranded and the time you may use for good things in Nigeria will be wasted there.
TravelRe: Case Closed by kood: 2:09pm On Sep 03, 2009
I am not an adviser but I can still contribute to exchange idea on your issue. The decision is only you that can take that decision. Also, all these depends on what you want in life. your future plans.
You did not state if the study in Malaysia is in English or their native language. but I will take it that it is in English language. Well, if my thinking is correct then it is better to study in Malaysia than China. If the language of study in china is Chinese thoughout your program then it will be quite difficult for you cope expect you are very fast in learning languages. Because I know to be fluent and confident in any language will take you about 2 years. therefore, if you really wish to study and not for the money first then you may choose Malaysia for study. I have seen people who went to Eastern Europe to study and the instruction language is the native language and of course they cant cope and some of them have to quit as result to that. But if you know for sure that you are going to cope with Chinese language then you can stick to that since you are already there otherwise dont start what you will not finish. Plus I must say that it is not so easy again making it abroad when you do not have education. so you need to be serious to that if you want to study.
Good luck in making your decision.

tosin1570:
My own advice I have been living in Europe almost 17 years now and I will be honest with you the way things works,I lived in Italy for almost 7 years.
Have been to almost all the European countries looking for a better life before I decided to settle down in England 10 years ago.

From experience:
Don't go to Italy you will end up doing (eve compra) that is the name they call most of Nigerians that goes from house to house selling toilet rolls or you will end up living with prostitute at home and end marrying them also and this is the same in Spain also.

Holland:fucking hell you will end selling drug that is you knocking the door or prison

my simple advice is don't go to a country without no paper BC we Nigerians are indeed very wicked BC they will make your life so miserable I'm not saying you can't survive but you still have a long way to go and also your first 6 months in Europe will be for you just finding your feet
I think your advice is wrong and your impression of Nigerians living in some countries in Europe is wrong too. JUSTWISE gave a good advice to the guy. he didnt mention countries or what people do in that country. As Justwise said it is better to go any country with good documents and good intention. As a correction, European girls that Nigerians married in Italy or Spain are not prostitute. And I dont think Italy and Spain you mention are not a good countries. when you have proper documents you can do good things or when you study you can as well do good things.
You have been in Europe for 17 years and the way you analyze about life in some European country is wrong. You comment sound inexperience. I read in a forum where a guy was writing what people do in Uk which I think to my opinion is wrong too. the guy is a British citizen and believes every Nigerians in Uk do that kind of job. that is overgeneralizing.
I am not trying to crucify you but I am trying to make a correction because I know many people are reading this thread and may have bad impression of what you said. and can always believe that anyone who married European girl married prostitute.
TravelRe: Life In Various Foreign Countries: From My Experience by kood: 2:59pm On Aug 23, 2009
@ Vicjustice , I share some of your opinions about Nigerians abroad in your previous post. Mostly the low educated ones are the ones that give bad name to Nigeria abroad. Are there more illegal immigrants than legal immigrant? Yes! And it is not only illegal immigrants from Nigeria that out number the legal immigrant. There people from Asia, other African countries and south America. But you cant blame some of these people that are illegal. It is the nature of bureaucracy in Europe that is the problem. Some of these people applied for Asylum for many years ago and it is taking ages to consider them or reconsider them. European union talks more of integration but in practice I dont see any result of this.
Also, I will like to clarify this. not all illegal immigrants do 'bad business' in Europe. There are Nigerians who are illegal that do genuine work. (I cant really say the percentage of Nigerians who do genuine business in Europe as I dont have the figure.) Only that they are working Illegal. Some employers will want to hire cheap labour. And mind you even Americans (US) work illegal in Europe. they only use advantage of their passport and proximity of other countries in Europe.
Still this problem is created by Nigerian government and until the problem is resolved we will continue to see Nigerians causing so many problem in different part of the world. Nigerians are hardworking people. And because of their hardworking not many Nigerians will want to stay idle or depend on government for food or even go about begging for money in all street of Europe. Of course, I dont support evil or people doing bad things in other to earn a living.
Again, I dont believe you many know all Nigerians when you see them in the street of Europe. You can identify many but not all.
@ frankkky, I share your opinion too.
TravelRe: 80% Of Visa Documents Are Fake - Ambassador by kood: 9:58am On Aug 18, 2009
Kunle-A:
Which is true. White ppl have their own sh*t!. But how many of them do you see thronging to Nigeria Embassy to go to Nigeria by all means necessary? More often than not, when our ppl get overseas, some are not good ambassador of the country. What do you want oyibo to do. Rather than take advantage of opportunity, we abuse it. When there are too many false documents, then its only right for them to deny good documents cos the % of fakes are more than real hence the system is overtaken by suspicion.

The only difference with their system is that the % of fakes are minimal compared to the real ones. Their system can still survive. Its still their country and they can do whatever they want. Issue visa or deny it, they have the right!
I do not know what is true? that 80% of Nigerian apply for visa with fake documents? And what are the fake documents?
Again, what do you expect the white ppl you mentioned to come and do in Nigeria when there country are good.
Even if the figures were true the embassies created the avenue for people to apply with fake documents. If you have ever read Eu Laws you will understand what am saying here. You dont make things quite difficult for people. Of course you can refuse visa after interview and that you find out that this person that have geninue reason for visiting your county. check most of the european laws for example they dont make it difficult for their people and again you must provide alternative means. In case of Nigeria create jobs and provide social amenities. Of which this countries that are complaining of fake documents can help do.
one of the job of ministry of foriegn affairs is to improve the image of their countries abroad and attract investors. So our ambassador what to tell other countries that Nigeria is full of fakes. So beware!
TravelRe: 80% Of Visa Documents Are Fake - Ambassador by kood: 7:19pm On Aug 17, 2009
As biology and History teachers will say that living things tends to migrate from unfavorable environment to a favorable environment. During the stone ages, Farmers would leave an unfertile land to a fertile land. I think this is same today. You cannot blame those people migrating from one country to the other. And I am sure those good countries that Nigerian are migrating to understand this and thereby introducing stronger measures to reduce the number of migrates from Nigeria and other less developed countries. If am not wrong Uk in 2004 introduced another visa policy to Nigerian which I think stated that Nigerian that were less than 30 years and are first time travelers are not allowed to apply for visa. Other countries also tried to introduce difficult visa policies on Nigerians. Which in my thinking they are telling you that we dont really want you more in our countries right now! which of course some of these countries are right by doing this because any good country will want to protect its country and citizen. They dont want others to come and take their jobs away. But the bad thing here is that some of these countries or embassies in Nigeria in particular are implement this visa policies with prejudice.
People who are desperate of leaving their country will do everything possible to move away from that country in search of better life but this does not steal mean that majority of Nigerians submit fake documents.
The Ambassador should not have even mentioned anything about fake documents on visa application. It is really bad for him to say that. If am not wrong here again Senegalese president told the French government that if they dont want his citizen to continue to migrate to their country (France) they should start investing in Senegal which will create job opportunity. This is a wise say to by the President.
TravelRe: Information About Sweden Visa by kood: 2:24pm On Aug 17, 2009
My advice to those of you who are waiting for their visa is if you know you have applied since 3 months ago you should better contact the swedish migration board (migrationsverket). State that you have applied for visa since 3 months ago and still not get a response from their embassy. Also, for those who applied for less than 3 months they should as well contact the migrationsverket and state that the universities will resume soon and they want to know the state of their visa application so that you know what next plan to make.
It will be good for you people to know your faith on time so that you know the next step to follow. Swedish migration board is really VERY slow in their process it does matter whether you are outside sweden or in sweden.
God Luck!!!
TravelRe: 80% Of Visa Documents Are Fake - Ambassador by kood: 11:39am On Aug 17, 2009
Where did Ambassador Joe Keshi get this figure or statistics? How can ambassador say something like this without a proof. And what does he regard as fake documents? is it our Nigerian passport, application form, or the 'unnecessarily' documents that some of the embassies are asking you to provide.
Nigerian ministry of foreign affair should focus on what they can do to redeem the image of Nigeria abroad. they should focus on creating jobs for Nigerians by making our economy attractive to other foreign bodies.
Is Nigerian ministry of foreign affair proud that their citizens are migrating to other countries in search of better life? What exactly is wrong with this people? Is it ignorance or wickedness! When alot of polish people were moving away from their country to search for better life in other countries in Europe e.g UK, their government were worried and then tried to create more jobs and make their jobs attractive by increasing wages. the same with some other countries in Europe.
Do Nigerians suppose to provide all those documents that embassies are requesting if Nigerian is to be good?
Please Ambassador, there are many Nigerians with original documents that applied for visas. some got their visa while some did not get. And if Embassies are telling you that most (80%) Nigerians submit fake documents for visa that is wrong. I can as well tell you that those embassies hardly or even never verify so many documents submitted for visa application. He can do this experiment by himself. shocked embarassed
EducationRe: Student Invitation Letter For Study In China by kood: 11:32am On Aug 12, 2009
@ justwise I think you should read my thread very well. I never say we have the best education. and this thread started by a guy wanting to help Nigerian to go to china for studies. I has been in that part of the world and I can tell you many of this institution don't care about you. I mean how you study. whether you are doing well or not.
As a Nigerian I will prefer to study in Nigeria to study in so many countries in Asia. there are private institution in Nigeria now, so if you can afford to study in some countries in Asia why not pay to study in those private universities in Nigeria.
Anyway, I think we Nigerians have a problem. We always want to 'run away' from our country either for study or for economic reasons. And when we do these we dont consider so many factors. some people dont even give a damn of which country they are going to immigrate.
this countries we are trying to immigrate, either for studies or for economic reasons could be good for their citizen but bad for foreigners.
EducationRe: Student Invitation Letter For Study In China by kood: 10:26am On Aug 12, 2009
@ faakay I think both of us are misunderstanding ourselves. well, I can start by saying that I am not condemning education in Asia and neither am I saying that we are better than them. Of course, Japan has good quality education. maybe I over generalized. What I am trying to say to you is that instead of Nigeria going to some Asia countries for study it is better they get the education in Nigeria. And I am telling you out of experience and what I have seen. In Western Europe you mention some of them have English programmes for undergraduate programs and many have English programmes for graduates programs. What makes this countries better and good is that they have good facilities, good lecturers and as well good educational policy. By good educational policy I mean it is either you a good student or you are out of school. that means if you cant cope with their studies you should find your way out.
Also, to make another correction here, I am speaking about being a foreign student in another country. Of course, their citizen has good education but some of these Asian countries or some countries in Eastern Europe don't care about you as a foreign student. In Scandinavian countries as a foreign student you don't play with your studies or else you will be on probation. For you to renew your study visa you must have a certain grade.
Well, I don't want to speak about corruption in Nigeria. this another topic.
For those of you who are reading this thread, it does not mean that you cannot go to Asia for your studies but my advice for you is first, you must know what you want. Secondly, you will not have the same challenges you will get in Nigeria as an undergraduate. As undergraduate in Nigeria it is quite challenging and competitive. this challenges make you a better student. God bless Nigeria!
EducationRe: Student Invitation Letter For Study In China by kood: 10:46am On Aug 10, 2009
@ faakay, Of course that is mainly the reason. but that does not mean anyone who is serious may not acquire good education anywhere in the world once you have the materials. sometimes, it depends on you not just the facilities you have.
well, I wish you all the best if you are studying in china but dont take it that you are better than those in Nigeria.
EducationRe: Student Invitation Letter For Study In China by kood: 5:01pm On Aug 09, 2009
@faakay You are absolutely wrong. You may say that Nigeria dont have facilities but we have good lecturers and under the condition which we study make us better outside. I have met so many graduate outside Nigeria and if I can judge from what I see outside, Nigeria graduate are really doing great. Ask any Nigerian who are doing their post graduate programme outside Nigeria what are the comparison between then and other student from other countries. I had my degree in Nigeria and I am really proud of getting the degree there. Again, if you talk about facilities we dont have it compare to so many countries. but men we have good lecturers.
Because some people are afraid or cant pass some of the exams like Waec, Jamb and other exams they wish to run to china or other Asia country for study. Maybe because they wont demand all these. Some of this institution are after your money and not the education they are offering. of course in good countries in Europe e.g, Scandinavian countries, western Europe, you must met their requirements and you must maintain a good grade to keep studying in that institution.
if anyone wish to study abroad it shouldn't be China or some countries they are telling in this forum. this guys want to ripe you off.
so my faakay if you are part of people who advise people to go china for study you are making a big mistake.
