koolmd: Hello All,

I am a 38 yr old Single Male Nigerian. Presently, i intend sending in my application for tourist visa to Canada. I have visited Paris, France and Manchester UK( both on vacations. I work for an Oil and Gas Coy in Nigeria, and my company is paying some part of my travel expense (airfare and accomodation) which they will state in the cover note as they have done for me on my previous trips. My Salary is about 400k/mnth. I have just about 3.5M in 2 accts i operate.

My concern here is that, i have previously applied for the Canadian Federal Skill Worker Program in 2009 but was not accepted for the reason that my profession had been removed from the approved list of professions eligible for consideration. I have packaged all my docs. including hotel booking /reciepts from previous trips, even pictures of places i visited on tour, tour handbills/pamphlets etc from previous tours. I just like to know what my chances are otherwise i could choose to visit a different location apart from canada.

Advise is needed please.
Hello Vicjustice and others in the house...I applied for a TRV to canada for 8 day vacation but was refused today. The only reason ticked by the Visa officer is ..PURPOSE of my intended stay. I attached my intended itenerary and every other documentation. I think i have a good travel history as well as my last vacation in Nov. 2012 was spent in The Netherlands and France. What can i do now as i genuinely wanted to go on the vacation and am dissapointed that my visa application was refused.

TravelRe: Denied Entry Into The Uk by koolmd: 4:33pm On Feb 13, 2013
Hello,

The story is a common experience lately. The Poster's friend actually violated her visa condition/s with the hotel accomodation cancelled. If you go on a tourist visa wherein you claimed you did'nt know people/relatives in the UK , you must stick by it. She should have followed up with e-mails to confirm her booking was still reserved. Now, something must have prompted the ECO's intrest in questioning her further to the extent of checking the validity of her hotel reservation. Did she aquint herself about where she was going? Did she have a planned itenerary on stuffs she'll be doing on her vacation?Did they find incriminating stuffs on her luggage e.g raw food stuffs in her luggage, phone nos. of UK friends, addresses etc. These are pointers that would have made them question her further to the extent of confirming the validity of her hotel reservation.

Since the hotel reservation was actually cancelled before her arrival and the hotel confirmed it, then its a sad one. One thing is sure, if your reservation is cancelled for any reason, the hotel or booking company usually sends you an e-mail or even call you somtimes (i have experienced it times before hence i follow up with e-mails and phone calls to confirm my reservation before i travel.)

Contact the hotel or booking company on the status of the booking reference (when it was booked, when it was cancelled, a copy of the cancellation e-mail forwarded to her and the recipient address to which it was sent) let her lawyer then advise her on what case to make or else they may keep turning her down each time she applies.

tzetzefly: The insurance must cover the period of his stay in the Shengen region and his repatriation home if the case arises.

In other words, he must have the insurance extend beyond seven (7) days in case of emergency...
If the 7 days insurance covers his entire stay and return home, then he may just add 2 or 3 days for contingency but that's up to him!
TravelRe: Netherlands Tourist Visa by koolmd: 6:52pm On Nov 29, 2012
Just as tzetzefly has said, its not a standing rule you'll be given 90 days visa. The first time i applied for multiple with the intention of spending 14days, i was give a 30 days Single entery, the second time i applied for 8 days single entery, i was given 30 days multiple. My perception is that it depends on your travel history particularly to the Schengen state that influences the type of visa you are given.

tzetzefly: It is not a standing rule for any shengen member state to issue you a 3mths Entry Visa, you can be given a week or 2wks Visa as the ECO sees fit.

So do not raise your hope high unnecessarily. It is even better to apply for a lesser stay and get your Visa, than to demand for a month Visa or more and be subjected to unnecessary scrutiny.

However, i would advise u allow your girlfriend come over to Nigeria for a couple of months and stay with you before you pay her a visit in Holland. Then include her Nigeria Visa and entry/exit stamps when filling for your own application.

Note however that issue of getting married should not surface for now until after you have hopefully secured your own Visa to vist her. Or you maybe subjected to filling for Spouse Visa which is another different ball game that can last you a long time and no guarantee of being issued....

Over n' out..

Anthonymighty: Its my personal savings account. I didn't use a sponsor. I don't have a fixed amount that enters it monthly. I work for my dad and most time i see big money from contracts and sometimes small. He doesn't officially pay me as a staff. I have no pay slip. Was that the problem why they used the word "subsistence" In that case how can i rectify the issue before i re-apply. Thanks.
Hello Anthonymighty, let me share my experience and let's see the disconnects in both scenarios and am sure you can take it from there.my first schengen visa to france was on a virgin passport though the journey was fully sponsored by my company as it was a business trip. The second was a tourist visa to Netherland though issued by France- jointly sponsored by myself and the coy i work for. From my experience, they always want to establish you have strong tie to your country. In both cases i applied as single and i was issued. You stated that you dont have pay slips- You need it for this application to prove a point. (it helps to reconcile the source of the money in your acct...that might have been a lowlight for you), Again your reservations were obviously not gon be valid for the trip as your application was still under processing some days to your flight departure and hotel check-in..it is clearly stated on VFS website that you apply well in advance). If you are sure the account you submitted are in your name, then apply again, but then you need to provide payslips for 3months (i usually provide 6months and my acct statement where you can easily reconcile the salary credits from my coy. as same on my pay slips, although i have other sources of income too).REFER TO JUSTWISE'S POST ON THE TOPIC (the experience i shared is a practical demonstration of what he's trying to say). You should also write a cover letter on your intended visit as well as a letter of introduction from your company. Also include your income tax clearance for same period as well as other documents reqiured as stated on VFS website. Wish you the best!!
TravelRe: Main Reasons Many Are Refused Visas by koolmd: 3:01am On Oct 20, 2012
Anthonymighty: hello guys, first of all i know this is not a thread for FRANCE visa but i have searched for such thread and didnt see, the only one i saw was about welfare in france and didnt contain alot of posts. Here is my question.

I was recently denied visa to go to france on tourism purpose. Yesterday when i went to pickup my passport at VFS i was given a white paper where they marked 3 different reasons why i was denied but i am still confused because i submitted all authentic and necessary docs. Here are the reasons they gave me so one of you can please explain to me what it means and what i have to do to correct these mistakes because i am planning to re-apply next week.

REASONS ARE AS FOLLOW:

1) You have not provided proof of sufficient means of subsistence, for the duration of the intended stay or for the return of the country of origin or residence, or for the transit to a third country into which you are certain to be admitted, or you are not in a position to acquire such means lawfully. (dont know what this means. meanwhile i have a kenya tourist visa on my passport valid for 3 months but i have not gone.)

2) the information submitted regarding the justification for the purpose and conditions of the intended stay was not reliable

3) your intention to leave the territory of the member state before the expiry of the visa could not be ascertained.

Those are the 3 reasons. i really want to work on this reasons but i need to be sure what i am doing this time so i dont get refused for the 2nd time. I await your response my good people. thanks
Hello,

Lets know the docs. you submitted with your application and how much was your account balance when you applied for the visa. These are the key pointers... VFS will normally tell you to keep the docs. that are not required for your application but lets know what you submitted.

Both gentlemen didn't handle this well... Adesoji, you could have simply pointed him to his initial post instead of using the "I have done a background check on him and he's fraudulent"... Up until that moment, Koolmd had been extremely polite in his approach.

That said, Koolmd, there's no point trading words with Adesoji... He may have been rude in his approach, but he's initiated this forum page which is an immense resource of information and knowledge- that aside, he's got a strong point with u being honest with all posts... TravelRe: FRENCH TOURIST VISA : Help Needed by koolmd: 9:26pm On Oct 11, 2012
Vicjustice: A Nigerian holding a UK visa does not need a transit visa to connect through airports in France. But if you wish to be allowed into the country, then, you need a tourist visa.

If your documents are not questionable, if your intention is clear and your application is transparent, then, your visa could be issued within ten days depending on how busy they are.

An interview is not necessary if your application is crystal clear and the embassy has no reason to question you.

The airline that you fly with is not necessarily taken into account, but the airport you'd be flying from may count for security and verification reasons. And it doesn't matter what country you arrive in first (whether the UK or France) as long as you hold the UK and the Schengen visa, but if you wish to exercise your Schengen visa first, you have to start with France except you have compelling reasons to enter through another Scengen country.

Well, be careful with Nigerians when it comes to travel matters because, most are vampires, when you have some money to be sucked out of you: They are predators, when you allow them to exhaust the life of your purse and scavengers when they feed on your remnant.
Honestly, you don't really need a tour guide, Tour-guides are usually for a group of tourists who pay for the services of a tourism company that provides them with private vehicles (ie buses) with tourist drivers and guides.
So, what you can do is to go to a tourist information dest in Paris, they are usually at the Airports, also at major train and bus stations, there you would be provided with free take-away maps of the city showing tourist attractions and directions. You would be told how to get to the city Site-Seeing bus-stops where you can join an open-roof-double-decker (hop-in/hop-out) tour bus that will take you about the whole city: the buses have inbuilt recorded information that explains every attraction in view, and every passenger will be given an earphone and allowed the options of different languages. The cost is remarkably cheap, the services are superb and the staff are polite.
Man, just do as i narrated, and you'd have a blissful trip to talk about in Nairaland
Hello, its not advisable to get to the country's border of entery e.g airport before you start asking at the tourist information desk ooo, prepare your itenary (there are lots of resource on the internet). You dont have to get to Paris before you know where you're going. You would have been drilled by the immigration officer at clearance before you get to the tourist information desk so research places you can visit in Paris before you travel. After your border clearance you can then get to the tourist information desk for enquiries. I had this experience at Gatwick and it was'nt funny, since then i learned to know more about any place i choose to visit.

Hello,

its not a requirement to have the ticket paid for but you need to include the confirmed flight reservation, i just did thesame schengen visa for Netherland and i submitted my confirmed flight booking, although it was stated that it expires after 48hrs if not paid for. I tried Air france, it was'nt successfull but i was able to book on Luftansa which was what i submitted with it.

Koolmd,I am sure you are aware that Nigerians are not eligible for "VISA WAIVER" to That United State, I would have ask you to just go and visit your Spouse, but now you are at the mercy of the CO on this issue and your ability to prove that you are not overstaying in The State.I don't know if there is any one in the house who had a similar experience, or you approach an immigrant lawyer.

This is not rocket science it is very simple, since you said you are not considering relocating now, you can wait till she becomes a US citizen in the nearest 3-5 years. It is more easier when she becomes a citizen than filing I-130 as a green card holder wish may eventually take a longer period of 3-5 years too.
Hello Adesoji,

Thanks for the attempt, i know its not rocket science at all..my concern is that how do i get to be able to visit the US before she finally files for me (5 years is a pretty long time). I like to visit US on any of my vacation so as to optimise the times we see(she comes to naija during her vacation as she's presently working in the US while i go to the US during my vacation). If i apply for tourist visa now, i cant claim not to have anyone in the US cus the truth will come out in future and i dont want to tell lies. if i equally state that my wife is in the US during my visa application, the visa officer might probably think am trying to immigrate to meet her and not return...these are my concerns...

Hello House,

Just an advice, how soon can i relocate if i have to go and meet my wife who is in the US? Her dad filed I-130 for her and her siblings. We got married after she went for her green card (she had passed the minor age then).

Now she's back in the US now and have just spent about 1 year from her first visit while i am in Naija, i have a stable and comfortable job that am not yet ready to trade for relocation now, though i may consider relocating in the near future maybe...My challenge now is although she comes to spend 1Month within 6 months in naija with me, i equally want to be able to go visit her. I have a fairly good travel history, been to UK, France, Netherlands, Belgium. How do i go about it cause i dont want to try the american visa and get refused when i still have the intention of relocating parmanently in future.

TravelRe: Main Reasons Many Are Refused Visas by koolmd: 5:42am On Oct 09, 2012
Vicjustice: No, it is within your privilege (as a Schengen visa holder) to travel to or within the 25 Schengen member states: there is no immigration controls, and you are allowed to stay in any county that you please as long as the visa remains valid. But it is advisable to use the airport of the country that issued you the visa as your point of arrival otherwise, you might need to explain the purpose of your visit: know that any Schengen country has every right to cancel your visa even if it is issued by another Schengen state
Thanks Man, i got the visa and will go on my vacation to Amsterdam, Brussels and Paris next month.

Thanks house.
