A large chunk of falcons problems is psychological. Sadly, the super eagles have the same problem. How can you qualify for a tournament and go there and fear anybody? |

Some comments here give the impression that Emeka Offor made this donation from his own pocket whereas it's his foundation. A foundation usually has many donors - just to put things in perpective. Anyway, the gesture by his foundation, in collaboration with Books for Africa, is impressive! |

I don't know but it's a shame the police would make pronouncements not rooted in facts! The other day, an IGP said Ribadu was never in the country when in fact he was and was even shown on TV. aba! Nkan be! |

One of the richest men in the world, Rupert Murdoch developed his worldwide media empire when he inherited his father's Australian newspaper in 1952. He married Anna Murdoch in the '60s and they remained together for 32 years, springing off three children. They split amicably in 1998 but soon Rupert forced Anna off the board of News Corp and the gloves came off. The divorce was finalized in June 1999 when Rupert agreed to let his ex-wife leave with $1.7 billion worth of his assets, $110 million of it in cash. Seventeen days later, Rupert married Wendi Deng, one of his employees. http://ca.askmen.com/top_10/top_10_60/74c_top_10_list.html |

Romance / Why Every Man Needs A Prenup by kosoro: 2:00am On Feb 08, 2011 |
What man in his right mind would willingly enter into a contract that could cause him to lose 50% of his investment on a whim? Well, that's marriage, guys. When you say "I do," your house, your business and all the rest of your assets are up for grabs should you get divorced. And these days, with divorce rates skyrocketing and so many brutally mercenary women out there who think that they're entitled to your hard-earned money, getting your fiancee to ink a prenup is a necessity, not a choice. That's why we're here to explain why every man needs a prenup. A Prenup Protects Your Assets Simply put, a prenuptial agreement is a legal document signed before your marriage that specifies very clearly how your assets will be divided in the event of death or divorce. You absolutely have to protect yourself with a prenup if: You own major assets such as a home, stocks or retirement funds You may be receiving an inheritance or lottery winnings You have children and/or grandchildren from a previous marriage You own all or part of a business You have a significantly larger amount of assets than your wife-to-be and/or she has substantial debt You are starting out in a potentially lucrative profession such as law or medicine You are likely to achieve great success in your business or career You aren't sure about your fiancee's motives You have suffered a previous divorce Financial Protection The next reason why every man needs a prenup has to do with protecting yourself financially. Nailing down a prenup before tying the knot is savvy financial planning in an era in which the majority of women use marriage and divorce as a business. Let's face it: There is a huge financial incentive for a woman to get divorced from a man. Women can enter into marriage as paupers and walk away millionaires. Depending on where you live, your soon-to-be-ex-wife can legally coerce you into handing over 50% (or more) of the house you built, the assets you accumulated and the business you started years before you even met her, even if she's never lifted a finger to help you -- and even if she institutes the divorce just because she's "bored" and "wants to find herself" or she cheated on you. No woman deserves half a man's assets just for saying "I do." The harsh reality is that marriage is a legally binding contract; once you sign on that dotted line, she has you by the checkbook and she knows it. Bring Up The Prenup Of course, as soon as you bring up the subject of a prenup, the average woman will hit the ceiling, since in her eyes you're about to abrogate her entire reason for getting married in the first place. She'll protest that a prenup kills romance. She'll burst into tears, sobbing that you don't really love her. She'll fly into a rage and go running to her mother, squealing about what a horrible man you are and that you don't trust her. She'll blame you for predicting divorce. She'll cut off sex or -- with even more cunning manipulation -- she'll give you the best ride you've ever had before she cuts it off to show you just what you'll be missing if you insist on that nasty prenup. Don't fall for her little tricks; treat marriage as a business, just like she does. Don't kid yourself: If she were about to enter into your marriage contract with more assets than you have, you'd better believe she'd have you endorsing the most ironclad prenup a lawyer can draw up (and she wouldn't even begin to tolerate a squeak of protest from you). How To Handle The Subject Honesty is the best policy. Let your potential wife know your views on prenuptial agreements very early in your serious relationship. Talk about the subject openly, logically and sincerely. Be firm in your position; if she starts to object, hold your ground. Explain to her that a prenuptial agreement protects the assets of both parties involved. What if she received an unexpected inheritance or won the lottery and you got divorced? Would it be fair for a court to award you half her assets? Tell her that it's like investing in health insurance: It doesn't mean that you're going to get sick, but you're just protecting yourself if the worst should happen. A prenup has nothing to do with love or trust; it's about making sure that a man and wife take out of the marriage what they went in with, and equitably distribute the assets they accrued during the course of the union. If you don't want to bring the subject up yourself, have a meeting with your lawyer, CPA or other financial planner and ask him to advise a prenup to your intended. But don't be hoodwinked -- make sure she discloses all of her finances, especially debt. And ensure the agreement is set in stone long before the wedding. This will effectively negate any appearance of "coercion," a trick many women are using these days to get courts to void prenuptial contracts. For Better Or For Worse Ultimately, marriages should be about love, partnership and romance, not finances. But you have to watch your back. Some women have an agenda. They'll purr about love and romance while their fingers are surreptitiously sneaking the wallet out of your pocket. And that's the beauty of a prenuptial agreement: It effectively stops women from profiteering from marriage and divorce. So, just in case better does become worse, you shouldn't think twice about having your future wife sign on the dotted line. Saying "I do" is fine, but get it in writing first. And if she refuses to marry you because of your insistence on a prenup, get rid of her -- it might be a sign of bad things to come. Politics / Nigeria 2011: Where Do The Presidential Front-runners Stand On Issues? by kosoro: 12:43am On Feb 06, 2011 |
The polls are about two months away and I, like many other Nigerians, am still clueless on where these presidential front-runners (Buhari, Jonathan, and Ribadu) stand on issues affecting Nigerians. This is the first time I will be excited about the electoral process largely because I have a feeling my vote will count this time. This is largely premised on Jonathan's repeated affirmation to conduct free and fair elections this year. I could be wrong - but I hope not. I want the outcomes of this year's elections, particularly the presidential election, to be a true reflection of the hopes and aspirations of the Nigerian people. This is a defining moment in our history as we prepare to set the direction in which our beloved country will move for the next four years. The Nigerian people are facing a litany of pressing issues which far outweigh the political bickering that has enveloped our polity. Elections are two months away and we are yet to witness a single live presidential debate among these presidential aspirants. Nigerians had been hoodwinked into voting for candidates in the past but this time must be different. We, the electorate, are the employers and we need to know what these candidates have to offer our constituency, Nigeria, before we employ them. I, for one, cannot afford to be beclouded by sentiments and trivialities like ethnicity, religion, gender, candidate's geo-political zone, etc. This time, Nigerians want to vote issues. Needless to say, I'd appreciate it if anyone could enlighten this forum with specifics on where these presidential front-runners stand on the following issues: 1) Economy and unemployment 2) Security - terrorism, religious intolerance, robbery, crime, etc. 3) Education 4) Healthcare delivery 5) Infrastructure: Power, water, waste management, etc. 6) Foreign policy How do these candidates plan on tackling these issues? Please give specifics. If we genuinely want to progress as a nation, we cannot afford to go to the polls uninformed. We cannot afford to vote on the basis of tribe, gender, profession, religion, and all other issues irrelevant to the socio-economic development and overall well-being of the Nigerian state. Not this time. Not ever! PS: Please feel free to post "i don't know" if you don't. Just a way of seeing how well these candidates are communicating to the electorate on things that matter. |
Politics / Re: Bakare: What I Won’t Take As Buhari’s VP by kosoro: 10:21pm On Feb 05, 2011 |
yommyuk: My concern is not about the choice of Bakare. My concern is about what the ticket has to offer Nigerians and this what we should be dwelling on. As long as you meet the Nigerian constitutional requirements for the office of the president of the FRN, you can run. But the electorate need to know what they have to offer. Let's stop dwelling on trivialities like "how can pastor run for office". We should be concerned with "how can this pastor solve the problems facing nigerians". We should care less about their religious affiliations and ask if these guys will uphold the freedom to choose and practice whatever religion you choose as an individual. I'm talking about issues here and not trivialities. I ask that you do one thing: please ask yourself if you know where all these presidential candidates stand on on issues that affect nigerians and how they plan (i mean specifics) on solving them. I'd be glad if you could enlighten me on this. I do need this before going to the polls. |
Politics / Re: Bakare: What I Won’t Take As Buhari’s VP by kosoro: 10:03pm On Feb 05, 2011 |
Well, these presidential aspirants need to get out there and start doing meaningful campaigning. We have about two months to go and we have not even witnessed a single live debate among the presidential front-runners not to talk of the other elected office-seekers! I still don't know where these guys stand on issues and I'm sure a lot of the electorate are like that. This is grave deservice to the Nigerian people - this is mediocre ("amala" politics. i wonder what the people will be voting on come election day. we need to start hearing what, how, and when they plan turning Nigerians fate around. We need specifics - not general statements of "oh, i will solve power problem in two years" - how?. "I will improve education system and make it affordable to the poor". "I will overhaul the ailing healthcare delivery system". How? We need specifics so we can see who has a feasible genuine plan and intentions and who is just making bogus claims or promises. And their various agendas can be subjected to criticisms by the voting public and experts. Nigerians need to go to the polls informed. The media should help set up debates and all that. We need to start seeing polls on issues the Nigerian people care about most as they prepare to go the polls. Now!!! |

Now i'm torn between Buhari/Bakare and Ribadu/?. I think Jonathan is a good man but his association with PDP is a big minus for him. Good to have choices anyway. For the first time in my adult life, i'm actually looking forward to voting for a presidential ticket. |

manny4life: Well, I advocate continuous improvement in anything one does. Having said that, you don't have to be an orator to be an achiever. What if she had to read in her mother tongue and have it interpreted? Would you crucify her for that? Is that not the case with many Heads of State who can't speak English? I'd rather focus on what she's talking about. |
Politics / Re: Patience Jonathan Unable To Read Own Speech by kosoro: 4:57pm On Jan 31, 2011 |
Some Nigerians won't stop surprising me. They leave substance and chase after shadows. Instead of discussing the project she's talking about in the video, they expend disproportionate amount of energy discussing how she reads. Must everyone read fast? That's her style and let it be. After all, she communicates and that's all that matters! Assess her on the basis of her actions, not words. Mind you, her being the First Lady was not her choice. If you were talking about an appointed Minister of Information, that might be different. This is just another in a string of frivolous criticisms some Nigerians indulge in. |
Politics / Re: Buhari’s Running Mate: Bakare Decides Today ! by kosoro: 3:40pm On Jan 31, 2011 |
Madcow: Rev Martin Luther King (Jr) and his comrades did not win the civil rights campaign only on knees, but also on foot. The two are inseparable if you actually desire meaningful results. All we need in our polity is exemplary leadership from credible nigerians - regardless of their faith, profession, political affiliation, gender, etc. I think he should run and present to nigerians what their agenda is. And let Nigerians ultimately decide. |

Such killing is satanic and whoever supports it for whatever reason is equally satanic. Period. Such is exactly the thinking of terrorists - that if you are not a muslim, you are an infidel and do not deserve to live. You can't hate terrorism and embrace senseless killing of a fellow human-being because of their sexual orientation. That's double standard. You can't have your cake and eat it. |
