In 1999, Igbos voted for President Obasanjo from South West despite the painful loss of Alex Ekwueme to the latter at the primaries of the Peoples' Democratic Party in Jos. Chief Obasanjo got 3.2 million votes from the South East which is about 70 percent of the votes cast in the region in 1999.

In 2003, President Obasanjo secured 4.5 million votes about 68 percent of the votes the region in while Ikemba Nnewi Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu (an undisputed Igbo leader) got about 22 percent of the votes.

In 2007, Ndigbo voted for Late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua who is from the North West and with a running mate with the South South region. Ndigbo voted against Gen. Muhammadu Buhari irrespective of the fact that he had an Igbo man as his Vice-Presidential candidate.

In the 2011 and 2015 presidential elections, Ndigbo voted for President Goodluck Jonathan who is from the South South region. President Jonathan secured over 90 percent of the votes in the South East region in each of those elections. Ndigbo did not vote for General Buhari.

In 2019, Ndigbo voted for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar who is from the North East region.

To drive the point home the North West after voting Obasanjo with about 63 percent of the votes cast in the region in 1999 shifted to General Buhari in 2003 with 62 percent and have consistently voted for Northerners since 2007.

No Southerner since 1999 has scored, on average, more than 30 percent of the votes cast in the North East and North West regions of Nigeria.

The electoral results show that the South East is ethnically blind when it comes to voting. This voting pattern is the ultimate proof of the cosmopolitan ethos of Ndigbo. They will vote against an Igbo Vice President if he is co-yoked with a president who is anti-market, anti-merit, and divisive.
They will vote for a Northerner and a devout Muslim if they believe he is a man of character and a unifier. In Presidential elections, South East votes have been cast on a largely ideological basis in support of inclusion, rule of law, freedom, democracy and open markets.

The 2019 elections have also shown that Ndigbo will always vote in line with their conviction irrespective of threats or attacks. It is time for the country to take note of these salient points, drop their unfounded distrust of Ndigbo, and fight to enthrone the politics of live-and-let-live.

Nnamdi Kanu ‘exposes’ Nigeria’s worst enemies

Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has alleged that the British Government was the worst enemy of Nigeria and not those agitating for Biafra.

Kanu alleged that the British government and some people in Aso Rock were supporting terrorism in Nigeria.

In his live broadcast on Thursday, the IPOB leader claimed that the British sees “evil in Nigeria happening, see Satan and Lucifer in Aso Rock and keep quiet because it is in the interest of their neocolonialism act of empowering the almajiris they manipulates.”

According to Kanu: “The greatest enemy of Nigeria is British government and some if its nationals, they are the ones perpetrating, support and financing terrorism with the people occupying Aso Rock and deceiving Nigerians that they mean well for them.”

He alleged that all the actions and projects of the All Progress Congress, APC, government in Nigeria are geared towards promotion of Islam.

“Who in Nigeria today voted for Sharia Law to be practiced in Nigerian Northern states today, is Sharia in Nigerian Constitution, they willingly subverted the Constitution of Nigeria and imposed Sharia on the Northern Nigerians.

“If they believe in the Constitution of Nigeria, they would not have introduced Sharia Law within Nigeria where the Constitution exist, so when they tell us not to agitate for Biafra, what is their moral right and justification for telling us that, Biafrans should ask them how they got Sharia being practiced in Nigeria Northern States anytime they kicks against Biafra agitation.

Man insists Obasanjo is from Anambra and not Owu



A middle age man, Damilade Abdul Oladele, has insisted that the former head of State and President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo is a native of Onitsha in Anambra State, and not from Owu in Ogun State.

Damilade wrote on his Facebook page that the resemblance between the Igwe Onyejekwe of Onitsha, and the former President is too sticking.

Igwe Onyejekwe was reported to have lived in Owu in Ogun State, as a police officer around the time the former President was born.

According to Damilade, he wrote: "The resemblance is striking, Igwe Onyejekwe of Onitsha that ruled from 1962- 1970"

"He lived in Abeokuta for years before being recalled home to be made King"

I got this when I was a child, I didn't have a say in it. If you ever lived in Benin or Edo state you'll understand what I'm talking about.

I was ill so the only way to cure it is to get the marks according to them.

These marks have been disturbing me ever since, can't take my shirt off on public, can't enter pool and you know all the Normal stuffs kids and teens do like football and co.

The Federal Capital Territory(FCT), police command Tuesday, paraded 27, suspected criminals including four bank robbers that robbed the first bank at Mpape, Abuja on December, 28.

The suspects Larry Ehizo, 30, Timothy JOE, 21, Princewill Obinna and Elijah David, are currently undergoing interrogation by the police.

Interestingly, Ehizo, happens to be a staff of the bank who not only connived with the robbers but also drove them in his car into the premises and eventually into banking hall.

To ensure their faces are not captured by the CCTV cameras mounted in the bank, Ehizo, provided the suspects with a black cloth with which they used to cover their faces.

According to him, the mastermind of the robbery, one Ernest, who is at large, had threatened to kill his family if he did not comply.

Items recovered from them include 4, locally fabricated pistols, 2 cutlasses, 2 daggers, one axe, one plier, one saw blade, one Peugeot 206 with registration number SBG 752FP.

Parading the suspects before newsmen, the FCT police commissioner, Bala Chiroma, said efforts were on to arrest other members of the gang who are on the run.
