Clara was in Cloud 9. Whatever Ebuka was doing to her in the bathtub was the most pleasurable thing she had felt.

The scene was one of erotic romance only witnessed in Hollywood movies. That Ebuka was romantic enough to conjure it up was beyond her imagination.

There were candles, at least a dozen, lit at strategic points in the bathroom. Then he had ran a foam bath. And now, his head was buried under the water, giving her the best sucking. There was something so sensual about sex under water and tonight she was experiencing it and didn't want it to end.

Briefly he raised his head to catch his breath. She pulled him close and kissed his foamy lips, caressing his hard, masculine body. She wanted him to penetrate her there and then. As she pulled her closer to him, the faint sound of a ringing phone filtered in.

She stopped instantly, frowning. She listened. The ringing continued. He paused too listening. Shocked. It couldn't be.

'That's my phone', she whispered, alarmed.
'That's not possible', he breathed...'unless...'

The passion died off momentarily. She grabbed her towel and disentangled from him, drying herself. The ringing continued. Mystified he grabbed another towel. Naked, they stepped out of the bath, toweling off.

The phone continued ringing. They exchanged one last look of uncertainty before they headed out...

The playing music jolted Chioma from her wild, barbaric imaginations. Joe singing. It was her husband's favorite song. They had made love to the song countless times. And now her husband was playing it for her best friend.

She sat on the sofa in the dimly lit sitting room, holding the phone, her phone in her hand. It was what had led her to them. A simple mistake. A frantic tumble and a mistake. It had become her proof and she had set them up. Now looking around the room, she saw that her plan had worked. There were scattered clothes, a nearly empty bottle of wine and two glasses, her handbag, his phone. Now was the time to confront those cheating bastards.

She got up, picked the remote and shut off the home theater. Then she took out her phone. Gently scrolling through her speed dial, she found her best friend's contact. She sat back calmly and dialed the number.

In the quiet of the night, the sound of the ringing phone filled the sitting room. Chioma sat calmly and waited for the inevitable storm. It was time to confront the lovers.

PROLOGUE: A Night of Sex and Murder.

The knife gently dropped from her hand, clattering on the floor. Her knees sank on the floor as she gasped, struggling for breathe. The air had suddenly become dank. She could hear the soft hum of the air conditioner but it still felt like nature has sucked away all the oxygen.

Her mind was racing. There were voices in her head. She wanted to scream out at them, make them stop. But somehow she felt powerless. The music playing from the music home theater was not helping either. Joe's old school I wanna Know had been on repeat for as long as she had been there. In the past, the song would have soothed her, but tonight it drove her to madness.

Madness! That was what she felt. She looked around the dimly lit sitting room that had been her home for four months. It had been a place of laughter, fun, friendship and romance but tonight it was a place of betrayal and death.

At the thought of death, she glanced down at her hands. They were bloodied. She felt an air of superiority as she looked down on her clothes. She was drenched in blood. She suddenly felt powerful, briefly subduing the voices in her head. She held the power of life and death and tonight she had taken life.

Slowly her eyes traveled to the bodies on the floor. It was a scene of massacre. A couple lay dead, stabbed all over. A feeling of elation washed over her as she took it all in...the mutilated flesh, the river of blood. The couple were naked and she had made sure she totally damaged those private parts that led them to sin.

Sin in her own home. Her sanctuary. A place that her husband should have kept holy. Only two days ago, he renewed vows of loyalty to her, made her feel like the only woman in the world, made love to her in the most passionate way, and then betrayed her. And with her best friend.

She felt the anger again. Instantly, she picked up the bloodied knife and descended on the dead woman's corpse. As if willing her to live again so she could kill her once again, she pulled her up and stabbed her again and again. Then she broke down crying. Like a needy child, she held the woman's body, cuddling her. She had been everything to her, had been a sister and a best friend. She had loved them both and they had betrayed her.

Of all the men in the world, how could her best friend sleep with her husband? And how could he disrespect her so. They had taken away her happiness. She was lifeless, a dead man walking.

Angrily she pushed the corpse away, hanging on to the knife. She stares mournfully at the knife. It was all over
Her life was over. They were all bound in life and in death. She had made a vow and she would keep it.

Chioma slumped on the floor, staring up at the dimly lit ceiling. They said that life flashed through someone's eyes before his death. The last 48 hours flashed through her head instantly. As she gasped for breath, holding the knife embedded into her stomach, Chioma recalled everything, the love she had and lost.

I have taken a long time away from writing. The day job and the late nights have been an obstacle. My creative work suffered. But now I've decided to strike a consistent balance.

The piece I'm about to write is based on a true tragic event that occurred in Enugu last year. The story has always been in my head. I have always wanted to tell it. And here it goes.

In the past I've posted my stories in the literature section but I believe this one is more appropriate for the romance section. That's why I'm here. Please come in and read. You can also check my profile and read my previous stories. I promise you'll be entertained. If you like my work, take out time to visit my blog and drop comments. Thank you and welcome.

I also will like to meet Ishilove face to face one day. Cos for that singular story of hers, she is a super woman to me.

Now dis is the kinda story I like to read about. A story that applies to real life situation. A.story dat every one could possibly relate to. Not all this fantasy stories that only talk of sex, more sex and even more sex.

I like dis story because every young boy had a serious crush on one girl or the other while growing up. However, many are lucky not to become obsessed with desire so much as to drive them to crime.

Very good job man. Keep it up

Thank you very much. Reviews like yours encourage me to write more. I appreciate your taking time to read and I'll entertain you with more stories.

EPILOGUE: TEMPORARY INSANITY.

Temporary Insanity. That was what they called it. That moment when the world became a triangle instead of a circle; that moment when his best friend became a monster in his mind. Why couldn’t it be permanent? At least that way, he would never face the reality of what he had done. His best friend had not been the monster, rather it was he. It was a curse he would live with forever.
It could be blamed on pressure. He had underestimated the psychological problems he faced. He tried to be brave. But in the end, he had cracked. And all it took was a crack against the wall.
He could no more sleep at night. He saw the monsters in his dream every time. Images of a monster slaying his best friend. And each time he would wake up screaming as he realized the monster had his face. His once beautiful face was now a horror to him.
His parents had decided to stay together. In his tragedy they had realized that they needed to stick as a family to fight it through. It should have pleased him but it no more made sense. Nothing mattered to him any longer. He ate to be alive only because he was too weak to embrace death. But he no more had the will to live. He wished to die. He wished someone would just kill him.
Often he suffered nervous breakdowns. Few days after the incident, he was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Sometimes during the day, he was lash out at the monster, screaming and crying. Other times he would sit calmly and stare into space. He talked to no one, made no trouble and worked hard at the prison.
The trial may take years. Ifeanyi’s parents may decide to withdraw the case. He could be found guilty of murder or not guilty by reason of temporary insanity. Whatever happened, his life as he knew it was over. He would forever be the boy that killed his best friend.

THE END.

The damsel in distress was screaming again. Why? Kennedy thought. Had he not defeated the beast? Everything was now alright. Everyone should be happy. Why? Why? The ringing in his head was too much. Screaming. Ringing. Pain. Something was not right.
He suddenly felt his wet hands. The screams grew louder. The pain was unbearable.
He opened his eyes. His vision blurred but he could see. There was a male figure. A female was screaming. He fought the blurriness. Slowly his vision cleared and his nightmare began.
Adaora was screaming at something at the ground in front of him. Obiora was rooted to his spot, speechlessly staring in horror at the same place. Kennedy couldn’t understand. He slowly followed their gazes, his heart beating fast. Time slowed down as he realized what had happened.
Ifeanyi lay dead, gruesomely stabbed in many places. His entire body was drenched in blood. Kennedy looked at his bloodied left hand then shifted his gaze to the bloodied broken bottle still in his right hand. He knew then that he had killed his best friend.
Kennedy felt sick, vomiting instantly. He thought his life was over as he collapsed and lost consciousness.

He struck out blindly with the bottle. Darkness surrounded him, but he felt the bottle make the intended impact. The monster screamed. It was wounded but not dead. Kennedy struck again, harder this time. He had forgotten his pain. All he wanted was to kill the monster; destroy that beast of the night. The monster groaned this time. It was dying. Kennedy felt elated. He struck again. He thought the monster was trying to escape so he reached out in the darkness and grabbed it. He felt blood run through his hand. The monster’s blood, he thought. He imagined it was green and slimy. A wave of pleasure surged through him as he struck one final time, aiming for the monster’s throat.
Kennedy let go as the body slid to the ground. He closed his eyes and knelt. His head was banging but he felt happy. The monster was dead. He, Kennedy, had defeated that evil. The world would now return to normal. His parents would be happy together again. Adaora would be an innocent, well behaved virgin. There would be no bad blood between Obiora and Ifeanyi. And his bond with his best friend would last forever.
Literature / Re: How He Killed His Best Friend Over a Girl by krimes: 7:19pm On Dec 04, 2015
But Ifeanyi was not listening. He broke off again and rushed at Obiora. This time Obiora was waiting. He lifted Ifeanyi effortlessly and smashed him on the ground. There was a loud crack and a scream. It was then that everything changed.
The next minute went by in a quick flash. Kennedy, still the peace maker, rushed again to separate them. As he hauled Obiora off one more time, he felt Ifeanyi grab him from behind. Ifeanyi was wounded, bleeding, his mind half gone, blinded, crying and clouded by alcohol. In the heat of the moment, he lunged at his best friend. Enraged beyond control, he bashed Kennedy’s head forcefully against the wall. There was a heavy thud and a cracking sound.
Kennedy felt ringing in his ears. Pain shot through his brain. The world instantly went black. He felt groggy, his mind deserting him for a moment. His entire problems flashed through his brain as pain washed over him. He felt the anger he had long suppressed. He had taken things calmly like an adult. Now it had fallen apart.
Kennedy heard Adaora screaming but it made nonsense to him. He dropped to the ground, groping around, moaning in pain. His hand found the beer bottle. He only felt the need to protect himself as he smashed the end of the bottle. Not thinking, not seeing, he lunged forward. There was a monster in his head, threatening him. He needed to save himself from the monster. He needed to save himself from death.

Hmmmm, I have been to America and UK a lot. Yeah they respect laws so much but trust me not everyone. I believe you have dstv as well, please watch a reality program called most shocking videos and see how crazy these people are. They use these stuffs as a show on TV and they are real stuffs caught on camera but here in Nigeria, it's internet news.

You're right, but i usually think that while they're not immune to craziness, they at least to to limit it because they have a strong legal system. Here we tend to be lawless and get away with things easily so we tend to be lawless.

Ifeanyi’s anger was bursting by the time Kennedy went to the bathroom. He had quickly slipped out to make war with Obiora. He was drunk and angry, a bad mixture. In his head, all he thought of was killing Obiora.
Obiora was in his sixth cigarette. He didn’t expect the attack. Blows were rained at him. At first, he felt defenceless but fought back after the initial attack. Ifeanyi was screaming murderous curses. The two held each other in a ferocious fight, man to man.
Adaora ran out, took one look at the situation and started calling Kennedy. When she got no answer, she ran back to fetch him.
Obiora had the advantage over Ifeanyi. He was not drunk. Soon he had Ifeanyi pinned on the ground. Ifeanyi struggled desperately as Obiora rained blows on him. He felt like a wounded animal but he was helpless. It was clear that Obiora would kill him.
Someone pulled Obiora off Ifeanyi. It was Kennedy. He tried to drag Obiora away but Ifeanyi was not done. He rose drunkenly and rushed at them. Pushing Kennedy aside, he pounced on Obiora. The fight continued; the two exchanging scattered blows. Each blow was accompanied by curses and death threats.
Adaora stood by a corner crying.
Kennedy rushed again and separated them, this time dragging a bleeding, sweaty Ifeanyi away.
“Keno, leave me make I kill this guy!”
“Anyi relax na.”

My dear you are wrong. The Rate of accident and crime is more in places like America and UK but it's not mentioned as one breaking news like we do in Nigeria.

Our problem here is how we carry everything as one big news and it feels like its just in Nigeria the worst things happen.

Are you sure about the rates in those places? Because I've seen how Americans drive. I don't know about Britain. But Americans respect law and order to the point that while a single pedestrian crosses the road, all vehicles automatically stop. Even if you spend ten minutes crossing, they all wait. They're so patient.

But here we all drive like we are high in drugs.

The rate of accidents in Nigeria is alarming. Sometimes I wonder if this country was just created for people to die.
