Yeah the site posted by joftech is nice, though the preloader tend to stay at 40%, but it's all nice.

Hey Timmy, this was never meant to get this way. Even though you said that, i'm still cool though, i've got no hard feelings. I think overall we've had a nice discussion going on here, so nothing spoil.
WebmastersRe: Top Ten Nigerian Web Designers <caution> by kris(op): 3:02pm On Feb 01, 2006
Timmy check out the post by deji "timmy, you are a trouble maker and stop dissing other people's sites. I have been there myself. even parts my present website use tables (from the blogcfc engine am using). i have done terribly horrible sites before."

Well from that we know you are the trouble maker not me o! Na you be our nigerian politicians o!
WebmastersRe: Top Ten Nigerian Web Designers <caution> by kris(op): 11:32am On Feb 01, 2006
Your site sure looks interesting. Once i get home i will download some of your stuffs and play around with them and give you feedback.

Do you write with Seun and Tayo though? I've called them a few time.

Peace!
WebmastersRe: Top Ten Nigerian Web Designers <caution> by kris(op): 10:56pm On Jan 31, 2006
I don't think that's a problem, you could work on it more and get it ready to be shown or just show it like that. No biggie. After all they all say my site is buggy too.

So have you seen Seun and Tayo lately?
WebmastersRe: Top Ten Nigerian Web Designers <caution> by kris(op): 7:07pm On Jan 31, 2006
Say the truth, do you really take this design to be crap? I don't believe you and i don't think it's crap though. I think the forum design is dope.

joftech:
I agree, but it's like you are using your site and portfolio as a yardstick (from your refrences to it).

Nairaland does not have a fancy layout or picture still thousnads are signing up; Think about that.
Nairaland doesn't have what? This design is not fancy? This is one nice design, though i know it's a skin made by someone but the whole layout and buttons are very nice. Everything well designed.

And i never said i wanted to list sites as good as mine, did i? Nope. You think about the look of Nairaland, and realize it's indeed a fancy nice design, which brings me to what i said before, design is not only about graphics, but has a lot to do with positions of things and things like color combination, text size and all that.

I'm focused more on the design of a site, which is something lacking in nigeria. I've read of great apps made by nigerians, so in a way i know we are doing good in that part, but the design put is what i want to focus on. And of course it has to be funtional too.
WebmastersRe: Top Ten Nigerian Web Designers <caution> by kris(op): 5:54pm On Jan 31, 2006
Check out my very first post, i was only searching for a website listing good nigerian designs, then niggas start running trying to diss.

What good is a so called functional site if the design makes not know your way around. I'm up for function and design. They go together. Don't you agree?
WebmastersRe: Top Ten Nigerian Web Designers <caution> by kris(op): 4:47pm On Jan 31, 2006
Deji, it's not about what i want. I currently has no need for any program i'm looking for but i asked to know if you have a place where you showcase your stuffs, but i guess you don't, so don't worry about it. But if you ever upload any of them in the future to showcase let me know so i can check them out. Also if you know nigerians who's got their stuffs up to showcase let me know so i can check them out.

Peace in the middle East!

And for those talking about my site not being indexed and all that, i will find some time and fix it so that that will be over!

most of my work are enterprise stuff, stuck behind corporate firewalls. i work with coldfusion which is java in a fanch tuxedo. and i didnt design the access bank interface. it was done by www.tavia.com. i only did the information architecture and the application itself... and every other thing wink

timmy is not my hench man. but he's one of the coolest dudes here...
Thanks for the reply. Just like i said i like to see stuffs made by us nigerians and that's why i asked you, but then timmy came and got out of line, and since i didn't diss him first, i got back at him his way. And he's showing more of his weakness by his last post which is quoted bellow.

Deji, i thougt maybe you have a site showing some of your non enterprise stuff. But any ways.

timmy:

I am not a designer. I write and design web application (not visual designs) using teams which include visual designers. what people call web designers are actually layout/interface designers. they r tons of well designed web app without interfaces.

but these small pikins don't know left from right..
Hey Deji where could we find your application, i would at least love to try them out and see what level we Nigerians are when it comes to applications. I love to see stuffs made by nigerians, so please post some url where we can see them in action. And by the way what platform do you work on, i mean Java, C#, C++, PHP
TV/MoviesRe: Cuando Seas Mia: 'When You Are Mine' by kris(m): 8:55pm On Jan 30, 2006

If you want to hear all about that, just holla at me!
WebmastersRe: Top Ten Nigerian Web Designers <caution> by kris(op): 11:56am On Jan 25, 2006
Da king is back!

Yo! There's no accessibility problem if you get yourself "Ajax In Action".

You are taught to develop accessible sites and then layer it with ajax, so if the browser can't handle ajax, then it works with the original site.

WebmastersRe: Top Ten Nigerian Web Designers <caution> by kris(op): 9:58am On Jan 25, 2006
So many post, where do i start!?

Ok, Oasis i must addmit that you tend to follow things just 'cause some one said it. Talking about "Get rid of the monter 115K graphic. A graphic should be a max of 15K, or the SE's will run for the hills. Unless of course you have plenty of text."

So why would you make your graphics 15k in the first place? Well it's all about load time! Right!? And guess what my target audience all run all DSL, so my 115k image loads up in seconds.

For those talking about html, save my site and go through the images and see if you can piece them together using html. I don't just put chunks of images on my site, i break them down and piece them together with my html skills.

And you want to know why i don't bother about google indexing my site? Well it's not meant to be found online. My future clients want to see my portfolio, and i give them the address. Of course i know how to work with meta tags and all that, but i just don't bother when i don't need to.

Yes i have gone through validating my site and found those errors, but i got caught up with other things and never looked at it again.

Iframe is still works better than div for me. My site renders the same on Mac OS X, Windows and Unix platforms running Safari, IE, Firefox, Camino, Opera. So i think that's enough.

I see why you are on about search engine and search engine, well your site depends largely on it. But not me. I don't need that much traffic for my portfolio site, i get enough traffic from my free news paper ad.

Ok i've got to go have breakfast, i'ma come back and write more!

Peace in the middle east!
WebmastersRe: Top Ten Nigerian Web Designers <caution> by kris(op): 12:02pm On Jan 24, 2006
Ok top ten is just a name to make it more interesting. But anybody will be hard pressed to find 10 nigerian designers to knock me out of the box! I don't claim to be the best nigerian designers, but i'm one of the best! Straight up! I've seen some good nigerian designs, but they are very few. And i'm still thinking of how the rating will be, maybe have like a panel or something. But yes i'm not trying to make it my thing alone, but a community type of thing.

WebmastersRe: Top Ten Nigerian Web Designers <caution> by kris(op): 11:20am On Jan 24, 2006
Timmy, please feel free to say what you feel. The only thing bad about my html is that it's not xhtml, and that's all. Apart from that there's nothing else. Or what exactly in my html is bad? Using iframe is not bad, even google indexes my page well, and i only want it to index the front page, so what else!?
WebmastersRe: Top Ten Nigerian Web Designers <caution> by kris(op): 11:02am On Jan 24, 2006
Hi Oasis,

I browsed around your site for a while, no dissin meant but you have way too much information beign thrown at a brother at the same time. I really advice you to re-design it, even cnn or yahoo don't give you that much information at a time.

good luck,

kris.
WebmastersRe: Top Ten Nigerian Web Designers <caution> by kris(op): 10:27am On Jan 24, 2006
Well, i guess the focus will be graphic design mixed with we designer. Take a look at newwebpick.com
I'd prefare to focus on individuals though, but of course teams will be listed too.
WebmastersRe: Top Ten Nigerian Web Designers <caution> by kris(op): 9:36am On Jan 24, 2006
Hi c0dec,

You know i've been around some of their friends, so i really can't say which of them you are. Maybe you can give me some more tips.

So how are you doing by the way?

Well, we'll talk more later.

Peace!
WebmastersRe: Top Ten Nigerian Web Designers <caution> by kris(op): 9:33am On Jan 24, 2006
Hi Oasis, thanks for your post, but i think that isp is just showing the old stuffs still. I did the search on google and i've save images of my result, which i will post below. The result i got for mine is just the same for yours.

I've been in the game for a while and i know what's up. If my site are not fast, they don't go online. Infact i don't even make sites that are not fast. check out www.sexynaija.com there we have speed and clean look. You've got to have an appealing to the eyes. Yes google and yahoo has little graphics, but you know what? they are well designed. Design is not all about graphics. It has to do with placement of things on the page.

But well the site i'm talking right now is a combination of the two. Though no matter how tight your php is you must have a good level of graphics design. They go together man!

WebmastersRe: Top Ten Nigerian Web Designers <caution> by kris(op): 12:12am On Jan 24, 2006
yes i'm friend with tech of illAlliance, and i made the site for them.
WebmastersRe: Review Of My Website Freewebs.com/Flowkwika by kris(m): 5:42pm On Jan 23, 2006
Yes another reason to conver them to text and not graphic is so that google can index your page.
