Haa,that agent na correct thief and you should've sort a second opinion before payment. Also paying the fine would've been cheaper if you had gone back to a land border, bank charges alone for a 2012 x3 should've been between 1,000,000 - 1,200,000. I don't have a copy of the new tariff at hand but a copy of the old tariff is shown below, 2012 minus four or five years will be 2007/2008,what he should've done was to pay around N1m+..

I guess his fear was borne out of the fear every agent has, if I tell that they will need to pay XYZ amount,won't they give the job to another agent that has charged lower. Many dealers/end users,friends or relatives will cut corners and handover peanuts for the agents to work with and the poor agent with mouths to feed at home will run the papers with what he has been given. Most jobs that I've lost since January have been because of bank charges,you tell customers to pay N450,000 as bank charges and before you know it, another agent has got the job less than what you charge but the gullible importer has forgotten that NCS boys are now on the prowl and are doing what we call "eye service" for PMB and ALLI, they seriously need scape goats..

A client once brought a job and I charged him N1.3m for a 2013 Venza,he went back to anambra to collect the money,came back to tell me that the owner gave him N850,000 and was even saying that if I refused to do the job, that he was ready to fly the venza across the border and give another agent N450,000 to shortpay,making me also believe that it was the owners decision too. His lies were exposed when the venza was later seized by customs and the owner later told us that the idiot collected N1.3m from him, the venza is still with customs till date....

Thank God that you were able to cross the obstacle and God bless you for sharing this story. When next you decide to use your former agent or another, always make sure he is sure of whatever he wants to pay as bank charges...

It's actually an H. Just checked and it was manufactured on the12th week of 2014. So guess I should be fine with the frsc people

hy Good question, the average tyre reading is 205/55/16/98 v. The v is the speed rating which means the car cannot exceed 240kms. In some cars like the sclass, bmw 7 series, their tyres are rated zr which means no speed limit. There are times when you will be driving at 120km and your tyres will be vibrating and you will be thinking it needs wheel bslancing but it is your car warning you to reduce speed cos the tyre on your car is not supposed to be there. If you have a range rover fitted with all season tyres with the speed rating limited at H, there is a tendency that that tyre has a B temperature and it will explode when faced with a 25degrees heat. The frsc stated in their report that over 77% of accídents were caused by burst tyres this year and we all know the intense heat the rains just chased away of recent. The legislation you talked about is because it will be suicidal to drive your car with winter tyres in summer or use summer tyres in winter. Here, it is a way of life. Nigerians import cars from all over the world and the cars arrive with 80% substandard tyres which are not meant for nigerian roads. These are the tyres on our roads and if you check many tire sellers stock, they sell majorly temperature b tyres which like you noted, is not ideal for a country that has only summer season. The best thing frsc should do right now is to prevent burst tyres accidents and we should all support them. It is better than being on the road asking for fire extinguisher

Bros so what kind of car tyre should I be buying that is ideal to the nigerian weather considering the temperature matter. Should it be the one with V which you noted as average or something else. There are different levels in cars from the least to the most expensive, comfortable to most comfortable and luxurious rides. A thought always comes to mind every time i see a lamborghini or ferrari zoom past me in lagos . Also when a Rolls Royce just creeps up on you in traffic and you watch them slowly glide away in all their majesty (while am in my camry 2.2 ), I just wonder what is the average amount of money these guys spend when these cars are due for maintenance and how many autoshops can do this maintenance for them in Nigeria. I just need to have an idea of this to let me know what I am dreaming about and prepare myself for that level where money is no longer the problem . Even the way people buy Porsche these days whether Panamera or Cayenne they just make it look cheap.
Abeg if we have people who own such cars here or have friends or relations who do just enlighten me on the cost of a trip to the autoshop for regular maintenance . Cars like Rolls Royce, Lamboghini, Ferarri, Jaguar, BMW, Mercedes, Range Rover etc. Let's make this thread interesting. Thanks

Hey guys I have been trying to figure out what makes up the clearing cost for cars and what exactly makes a newer model car more expensive than an older model. I have a friend who is shipping down his 2015 GX460 from Canada and i have heard him say he might spend as much as 5million to clear it and get all the necessary documentations (for my mind that is the price of about two of the cars i wan buy now just to clear one car) which gets me asking what exactly makes up this five million. Please if we have any clearing agents or anybody with knowledge in this area in the house do help give me a detailed breakdown of how this five million came about and how it is split through the clearing process and also maybe in comparison to an older model car which would have a lower cost and its breakdown as well.

GAZZUZZ:

Misfire. Replaced spark plugs, and faulty spark plug wires.

O2 sensors replaced.

Cts replaced

Vss replaced

Serpentine belt replaced.

Coolant temp sensor for temp guage replaced.

Throttle kickdown cable installed and calibrated properly

Brake calipers re-tightened

Leaking power steering pipe, fixed.

Air filter replaced

Thermostat re-installed.

Paid Gazzuzz another visit on Saturday to finish up on the car and a couple of things were done:

Change of break pads to near OEM ones to eliminate noise when breaking
Change of ball bearing on the passenger side
Smoothening of break disc to eliminate uneven wearing of break pads
Change of calipers on the drivers side
Radiator flush.
Now the baby rides like a born again car. And Gazzuzz was a good host,e serve me Orijin after the whole work to take calm me down before I go . But I no highooo . That would be wrong for me to drive under the influence of alchohol

Spent my Saturday at Gazzuzz's workshop and just as is said about him he delivered and did his magic on my car. The baby is now born again and the major problems have been sorted out. Will be having another appointment with him to do some final touches on her to make her as good as new. Thanks to you all and to Gazzuzz. Great guy

This codes aint from a camry 1999. Clear codes, drive car for 20mins-30mins and rerun a scan and revert back with the codes left

Did you say this car is a 1999 Camry? Giving u turbo charge error codes and p0357? Either u post the pictures of this car's engine or u post the picture of the scanner u used. One of them is definitely lying.

I used a software scanner on my laptop and ran a scan which gave about 12 DTCs and description which are listed below:

P0196- engine oil temperature sensor range/ performance
P0234-Turbo/Super charger overboost condition
P0299-Turbo/Super charger underboost
P0357-Ignition coil "G" primary /secondary circuit
P0443-Evaporative emission system purge control valve circuit
P0455-Evaporative Emission system leak detected (large leak)
P0736-Reverse incorrect ratio
P1143-Manufacturer specific code.Please refer to your vehicle's service manual for more information
U0001-High speed CAN communication bus
U0101-Lost communication with TCM
U0106-Lost communication with glow plug control module.

Forgive the long write up but please anybody who has any 'real simple' interpretation of what I might need to do or change should please help me. Thanks

The best among them is 2010 model.... The XLE is the best with features that even the 2011 XLE V6 does not have. I'm looking to get one of these when I'm buoyant enough.

For the 2010 are you referring to the v6 or the 4 cylinder version?

I have an Aircon issues with my 2010 venza, it takes time to get cold during the day and might blow hot sometimes,
But cools well at nights,
AC BLOWS very cold on the Highway during the day,
Car has just 63000k miles,

Do i need to top the gas or i have a failing compressor

Don't know if this would be helpful but i remember my Camry 2.2 having a similar issue where it doesn't cool during the day especilly when the sun is very hot and sometimes the AC light starts to blink while it blows hot. I filled the gas, changed the condenser and checked for leakage but the thing continued. The solution was just changing the drier which had been clogged by impurities and that was it. Don't know if this will work for a 2010 Venza anyways.

Hey guys this thread is for suggestions on how to get these indicator lights to go off because for someone like me i really hate seeing those lights and in as much as many people think it doesn't mean anything I for one think something is definitely wrong when those indicators come on.

The indicator lights in question are the CHECK ENGINE AND MAINT REQD light that normally come up on the instrument cluster. Ideally it should mean that your engine maybe is due for servicing or that something is wrong somewhere but in Nigeria very little people pay attention to these lights because the car still drives fine and there are no evident issues. I have heard of different ways to remove them either by scanning with a diagnostic tool and wiping all error codes or resetting everything in the car by removing and fixing back your battery terminal. However all these seem to be temporary as the light comes back on after a while. I have even heard someone say that you can never make the light go away as it mostly comes on as a result of the fuel quality we use in our cars.

But i have also seen cars that don't have these lights on and my brother's car for example; he drives a 2010 Lexus Rx 350 and the light never comes on except the car is due for servicing. He has also said he uses some fuel additives anytime he fills up his tank. So except there is a problem with your engine or a sensor in your car all you might need is just some fuel treatment of some sort to add to your fuel and get a smooth running car with no annoying ligts on the dash.

If you have been able to make this light go away from your instrument cluster please do try to let us know your car model and the fuel additive you used or maybe something else that might have caused the light to come on and how you fixed it

Hello house, I am about ordering for Lexus RX350 2010 model. Is it a good car? What are the peculiar problems of the car.

My brother has the same car in question and so far he has not had any issue whatsoever with the car except doing his normal servicing as at when due and maybe normal lagos bashing repairs. I guess it all depends on the condition of the car when you get it (how clean it is) and its history as well as what kind of roads you would be using it on (more of tarred road or more of pot-hole ridden roads) and of course bad road will also mean swimming water during the rainy season. These I think are the major things that kills cars. But I must say the car is awesome.
