BvS - the conservative estimate then was 1.5 billion. Some were even saying 2 billion but most dceu fans predicted it would outgross Avengers. No one and I mean no one predicted less than a billion dollars,and y'all still trying to spin this as a positive. OK oo. Suicide Squad was the only DCEU movie that exceeded expectations, and that's in spite and not because of how bland it was. Those calling Doctor Strange formulaic should watch Suicide Squad for a change

Deadpool and Doctor Strange were all predicted to make 500 million or less, they're both resounding successes, Doctor Strange will outgross Man of Steel, think about that for a second: a movie about a superhero I'm sure most of you never knew about, even Hardcore MCU fans don't know much about him, will make more money than a movie about the most popular superhero in the world.

I think there is a mistake we are all making when predicting marvel's movie gross.
The truth is that it's the MCU that it's carrying any of its movie (probably because its successful movies) and not the movie carrying the brands (MCU). that is, if you know what I mean. Even if MCU put out anything it will still sell!
have anybody thought of why spiderman, despite being marvel most popular character, still haven't gross a billion?

Spiderman: Homecoming is also having a Doctor Strange vibe. The trailer did nothing to excite me, but the appearance of RDJ might help to extend its box office earnings. fingers crossed. By the way, there's a rumour going round that the first justice league trailer might drop on the release date of Star Wars: Rogue One, let's wait and see if it turns out to be true.

Releasing JL's trailer with the Star Wars premier date would be an awesome strategy ....since so many mainstream audiences will be there! I think they should seize that rare opportunity at their disposal FAST!!!! Moreover, January is a bit relaxe period for movie goers. They don't go out to see movies that much in January.....I WB should take advantage of it!

Even the heavy presence of Tony Stark, am still feeling a little bit skeptical about the project.... though it will do well, but not like infinity war or gotg2

But I can vouch for GoTG2 and Infinity War to break new grounds (box office) when they are released! that for sure I know....

Yea. I think MCU is gradually losing its magic touch. mainstream audiences no longer doing the repetitive views over and over anymore. in my own point, I think it's as a result of too formulaic movies mcu keeps popping out every year-though TWS was a totally different take from the rest.
Take CW for an example, a movie with all that high score (90+%) and high praised from all corners of this world couldn't outpaced IM3...!
It is either MCU is losing its magic wand, or movie goers (mainstream audiences) are tired of CBM genre in general....
I saw that coming since-i don't even think the new date for JL2 would stand.... it's likely they will push it back more to like 2020 or 21 in order to give them time to flesh out its plots perfectly!
Dr Strange is too formulaic to what MCU had been given us right from day one, so repeat viewing will definitely be hindered.......
I saw it last week, it was ok but never close to anything great. I think critics and fans over hyped the movie.... even some calling it MCU's best. Lol! it can't even stand amongst MCU top 5, not to talk of no.1! I think that position is till with the TWS ( and also my 3rd overall best CBM of all time) in MCU.

Oliver and Barry realised (looked at each other simultaneously) and remembered Kara did tell them about her having a cousin! And immediately they sent Cisco to go and get him.... He showed up, using his multi-abilities/powers to hold his own against (who ever the villain maybe) the villain, and perhaps, giving them better time to regain lost energies before re-strategized for round 2.

That's Scott talking about the so called masterpiece, still a mixed review. The fact that someone didn't enjoy the movie you liked doesn't make that person immature. It's OK to like bad movies and not enjoy good movies, besides the criteria for rating movies is subjective

Please can you all concentrate on DC and stop bashing Marvel? There's nothing to gain by trying to bring the other down. That's what kids do and I assume we're all mature. Over in the Marvel thread you see very little of this sort of behavior but here it's more prevalent.

Telling people to "go to your Marvel thread" is just wrong. This thread would be nothing without the support or controversy that Marvel fans bring, same with the MCU thread: without the DC fans we'd probably still be on page 0. Besides there are people that genuinely enjoy both Marvel and DC, it's not an fixed thing. When people who aren't comic book fans come here they might think this is what all nerds are like.

Everyone will have their preferences and reasons why they don't like either Marvel or DC, that's normal but there's no need to use foul language to get your point across. I'm sorry I had to type this long post about such a silly topic but no one else has said anything about it and it's really sad. I follow both threads but I may have to stop and stick to one if 90% of the notifications I receive about this thread is just insults and pointless arguments

For the Scott thing, I guess I used "against, and not like" He didn't like the theatrical cut and even called it a mess, but couldn't argue the same about the Extended. Just like Schnepp too.
For Scott Mendelson advising WB to scrap DCEU, that, it's a waste of resource tells us how strong the word "improvement" might/may mean in his dictionary as regards to BvS UE.

that's exactly the point! Marvel doesn't need good story plot to sell, the brand and critics are already doing it for them.

The way Batman, Superman, WW and....probably Flash are to DC same way any movie under MCU is to Marvel. MCU carries the movie and not the movie carrying itself...

I still baffles how people will see CW as a superior movie to BvS UE! I've spent time upon time watching both, still I see no way CW can best BvS UE... BvS UE, to me, still maintained that topnotch overall!!! remember I said BvS UE, and not BvS TC!

Now, in defense of BvS Ultimate Cuts, so far people are served with the notions that superheroes are Gods, whatever they do, people will cheer, even if the casualties are high. Marvel movies showed that clearly. With millions dies, superheroes got a slap on their hands by only required to register. In Snyderverse, Superman must face a trial filled with dilemmatic questions of whether Superman must obey humans' laws or not. Expanding the moral question of Superman's decision to kill the only other Krypton survivor to save several humans.On the other side, all these years of remakes, Batman is always drawn as non-killer. Since BvSis based on 90s DC comics, Batman do kills, especially in Frank Miller's storylines. With traumatic youth and 20 years of disappointment as a vigilante that results the death of Robin, I would say it is a logical conclusion that when Batman comes back, he will kill those who do thecrimes. People still cannot accept a graphic superhero killing spree as Batman in BvS.On the note that Batman said he failed Superman, the simple answer is Superman sacrifice his life to kill Doomsday and avoid further bloodshed. Batman feels obligated to pay Superman his respect.I would say BvS is a more humanistic view of superheroes compared to 2 rivaling superheroes fighting in an empty airport (which is curiously impossible and coming out with only 1 nearly crippled casualty).I'm not going to explain Martha coz it has been explained in details, but I do wish Snyder gave the great Diana Lane more credit and extend her scenes a bit more to strengthen earth mother-supermanrelationship bond. Amy Adams' Lois Lane is brilliant in Ultimate Cuts.Then again, that's my personal opinion anyhow.

This is why I will choose BvS UE over any Marvel movie, any day and anytime....



not in defense or arguing, movie goers are not ready for a thick, deep, and dark superheroes story telling style of Zack Snyder. Even with Watchmen and 300, a lot of people are confused. BvS is the same, especially with the troublesometheatrical release. Watching BvS Ultimate Cuts explains most of the missing storylines and explanations.Comparing to Marvel's movies which have thinner storylines and more mindless actions scenes, snyderverse is aiming for young adults to adult viewers. Marvel is aiming for children. Personally, I can watch again BvS Ultimate Cuts and enjoy it and even have a discussion in 5-10 years from now, but I can only watch the first Avengers and just laugh about it.But then again, that's my personal thought.

For the record, SS was meant to be R-rated movie, and not PG-13... they decided to twist it during editing so it could passed for PG-13. They even changed the title to "Task-Force" in China just to get a free pass.
I don't believe in the Japanese emblem tied by Katana hindered anything.... though there are also political reasons too...

I've seen witchcraft, sorcery and demons in many Chinese movies. I really don't think the villain is the main problem. China censors any movie that may give her citizens funny political ideas, whether witchcraft or not. Dr Strange was particularly able to pass through the Chinese box office censorship because of Disney's huge influence in China.
