– The survivor said that the crash happened after the train suffered brake failure

– The Federal Road Safety Commission saidthat two people were confirmed dead after detached coaches from the train fell on them

Lagos-Kano train derailed at Jebba in the early hours of Saturday, May 7, leaving at least two dead and many passengers injured.

Premium Times reports that the train left Lagos at 12:00 noon on Friday with dozens of passengers and consignments.

The survivor, who pleaded for anonymity, revealed that the crash happened after the train suffered brake failure at Jebba train station.

“The train left Lagos yesterday and crashed in Jebba this morning around 7 a.m. as it was trying to stop for those of us coming to Jebba. It was due to brakes failure,” he said.

According to the survivor, the tragic accident claimed at least four lives with undetermined number of injured people who are currently undergoing treatment at various emergency facilities in the town.


However, officials of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) who responded to the emergency said two people were confirmed dead after detached coaches from the train fell on them.

Bisi Kazeem, the FRSC’s head of media relations, noted that the train was conveying goods to Kano, therefore, it had only few passengers on-board.

“The accident occurred this morning near Jebba Paper Mill and we can confirm that two people, unfortunately, lost their lives and three people were injured. The train is used more as a cargo train, but it had some travellers inside.

“With the support of the police, we were able to get those who were trapped out alive and took those who survived injuries to the hospital,” he said.

This season, we all found it convenient to
find scapegoats for Chelsea's dismal
performance.
Since we lost on Saturday, the fans have
chosen Willian, who happens to be just one

my opinion one of the most dedicated
players Chelsea have ever bought .
The fact is that we have problems that goes
beyond one person. We criticized Mourinho
and chased him away, we are now turning on
our best assets as players, today, it is Cesc,
tomorrow, it is Eden and the day after, it is
Willian or Oscar or Costa.
Let us all take a good look at our club first
for God's sake and understand its
fundamental problems. Then we can start
sorting out who can stay or go.
Believe me mates, for this club to rise above
its current problems and stay up, dedication
is required from everyone from the owner,
the board, the coaching staff even to us the
fans.
We are not helping this team by pointing at
individuals as scapegoats at every turn. We
need to plead with the owner who is paying
all the money to take a good look at what he
is paying for.
Is he getting true value for his money?
Is he happy with the rollercoaster of
emotions all the well-wishers are going
through?
If not, he needs to think deeply about how to
rejuvenate it. There are knowledgeable
people around to help him get a good
roadmap. As at the moment, this club is
moving dangerously towards the precipice.
If we wantonly throw away these players like
we did with the earlier ones without FIRST
getting a sustainable roadmap and follow it to
the letter, the club may fall off the cliff and
go into oblivion. And it is not going to be the
first one.
