Exactly my thoughts re stock android. This phone would have sold more units than it is currently selling. Stock android is a great pull.

True talk, Ma'am.
But still, thank God for developers and development.
In a very short time, plenty custom ROMs based on stock Android for the Pocophone, will be easy to sort for.

Yea Bro... It's true. He made it his primary phone for a period of 2 weeks.

I Finally got off the anti-roll back trap yesterday after almost a month in BREEKland! A kind dude on telegram was benevolent enough to share his authorised MI account to complete the flashing process... grin grin grin

What did i do immediately I was let off the hook? I installed TWRP and flashed MASIK rom with Magisk, Google camera and Dolby atmos which gave me a bootloop. Managed to uninstall the Dolby atmos and my device booted in a flash.

Big shout out to @ Adamix, dude was really really helpful during my wandering trials.

On the plus side, I learned a lotta extra stuff while trying to get myself outta those Xiaomi shackles and i am confident they'll come in handy in the nearest future. For those tinkerers like me, please exercise caution as there is still no unofficial way out of ARB and waiting for Xiaomi to grant your account the needed permission is an exercise in futility.

N.B: If you've managed to get a Dolby atmos zip which doesn't cause bootloops in RN5 Whyred, kindly quote me Asap!

Regards!!

Why use Dolby when there are working Viper FX and V4 Magisk Modules?
Save yourself the stress.

no matter how much we love our devices, we should draw healthy inferences.
Imagine statements like max 2 is better than note 5
5plus is sleeker than note 5 cheesy cheesy
If the above are correct, then note 5 is better than Samsung note 9 and redmi 5 better than find X na grin grin

I can categorically say that xiaomi redmi note 5 is the best smartphone within the 50-70k price bracket on the planet today.

Truth, they say is gold... But you know na grin , people still will not agree.

Someone should advice me pls. Why should I leave POCO and buy mi8 or oneplus 6 ? undecided

As a typical Nigerian, I always smile when I get spare change from a purchase.
Since all house the same processor on the inside, I really don't care about the asthetics.
So my advice is, Don't Leave Poco.

This launcher is really cool. I feel in the nearest future, poco would have a stand out UI, not a modified MIUI. That being said I love this version of MIUI more than the regular MIUI.

The launcher is very light and sleek.
I'm sure our crazy Indian developers will do something to Port the whole Poco ROM to other devices grin

I personally use a new phone without charging after unboxing, would then charge to 100% after it runs out.

The important thing na make e work, flashing no b for the faint hearted at all, especially if noobs are involved

That was why I said to him earlier that it's best he uses the phone the way it is... No tweaking. No flashing.
Even for the Sabinus, especially with this anti rollback stuff, something can wrong and you do know what that means.

Hello I just lost my redminote to thieves can I lock my phone With my MI account and my it useless. How and what should I do if possible.. Thanks

Chai.
So sorry bro.
Yes you can erase data and lock your phone.
Be sure you log in to the MI Cloud website with the account details in your phone. Tap find device... You'll see options for Wipe, tap on it.. and lock.

kstan

I fear that you've updated your device's firmware to the conspicuous anti rollback.

fastboot getvar anti

Type the above fastboot command... If you see anti 4 anywhere on your PC's screen, then know it's best leaving and using your phone the way it is.

best picture quality aint directly attached to aspect ratio and resolution...i understand wetin i dey ask jare... I once came across it on rn5 forum dt gcam take pics in 16:9 aspect ratio at d highest resolution available

https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-5-pro/themes/collection-gcams-redmi-note-5-pro-t3797787/post77111458#post77111458 (2 people reported a particular gcam supporting 13mp with d front camera)

Alright.
To be quite sure and since we both use different phones, I'd suggest you take pictures with different aspect ratios, at the highest resolution available for comparisons.

do working gcams for note 5 take higher quality pictures in a 16:9 aspect ratio...
This is redmi 5 plus own

GCam's highest megapixel recognition is 5.0 for front camera and 12.0 megapixel for back camera. That's the native setting in Google Pixel phones.
So the setting you have there, will give you the best in picture quality.

What is Gcam Bro? Recently got a RN5 too. Don't know jack about the phone. Any tips on getting the best out of the phone will be appreciated. Thanks

GCam in full is Google Camera, found in Google Pixel phones.
Best camera found in any modern smartphone.
Before you get it working in your RN5, you must unlock the bootloader of your phone, obtain root with Magisk and enable Camera2API.
I'm not sure you'll understand.

Gptech and kstan, I noticed you are on note 4 developer ROM (guess I'm right), do you enjoy a bokeh (portrait)
effect on your MIUI 10? Thanks.

Well uhm... I since lost my note 4 so, I can only speak for the Note 5 I'm currently using.
The Bokeh effect works perfectly well in MIUI 10.
