The Indigenous People of Biafra continue to send strong messages to the whole world about the failed marriage of convenience which the colonial British Government deemed fit for the ethnicities and tribes that make up today's Nigeria. Indeed IPOB's story can be likened to the story of the tower of babel as seen in the Bible: Gen 11:4-6 4 And they said, Come, let us build us a city and a tower whose top reaches into the sky, and let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered over the whole earth. That is the power of imagination; God Himself acknowledged that any thing imagined, through hard work can be achieved. A people( Biafrans) speaking one language(mainly igbo) have imagined and are working towards the actualization of their own country, hmmmm the Nigerian govt should take a cue from the bible passage quoted above in order to be a able to handle this issue carefully, respecting all human rights, lives and properties. Judging from the OP's writeup, Nigeria has lots of half-baked graduates. I would not join the "I weep for this country" that some folks keep chanting up and down as if it's some of mantra . Nigeria has no space for sympathy/sympathizers rather we should try in our own little way to develop what we have left of Nigeria so that there would be better days ahead for our little ones and the next generation in order to enable them produce "Better Graduates". God bless the Federal republic of Nigeria . |

Today is a reminder that I started this journey of life some decades ago. As I’ve gotten older, birthdays have become for me a time of intense self-reflection: where am I in my life, where do I want to be, what could I improve? They don't depress me, like they do so many others, but they do make me think. What does this new age look like in the mirror? The beginning of fine lines forming on my forehead interspersed with minor acne. Adolescence hasn’t quite ended, yet somehow, old age is beginning to set in. The physical world, in which we are surrounded, is constantly breaking, constantly wearing down. I see this in my own body, which Thank God, is still quite young and healthy, but I know that with every passing moment, it is slowly deteriorating, like all physical things around me. What do we spend most of our time measuring in life? Our bank accounts, bills, Our wardrobes, Our career , Our popularity, intelligence, weight, attractiveness, our relationships ,Our pain. Our pleasure and of course, we can’t help comparing all these things to the people around us. But which of these things will last when we leave this world? I've received many birthday wishes of longevity so far, but perhaps the essence of this particular wish is that we should not only have a long life, but more importantly, we should have a life in which we are cognizant of how finite our time here is. I will in that short window that God grants me, fill myself up with enough goodness and kindness to measure up to God’s vision for me. Like Stephen Grillet said "I expect to pass through this world but once. Any good, therefore, that I can do or any kindness I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it for I shall not pass this way again" Now that is my birthday wish.. Happy Birthday to Me(Kulboy)
