Says Christians have a right to worship
By OLAJIDE FASHIKUN, YUSUF OZI-USMAN
The spokesman of Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati Wal-Jihad otherwise called Boko Haram has refuted claims by the media on the recent killings and bombings of churches in Nigeria saying their jihad is not against the Christians and their places of worship. The spokesman, Abul Qaqa , denied the Christmas day bombing and other attacks carried out in the country all in their name. He also denied the statement that they asked Christians to leave the northern part of Nigeria, as even the prophet of Allah lived with non believers and they had the right to worship. He said they are fighting a just cause as the government have been attacking them and they have the right to defend themselves, alleging that they have only killed security operatives, the police and army in self defence. He said all Christians in the north should not panic, as Islam prohibits attack in places of worship and it is haram to burn or attack a church even during jihad. “Our prophet told us, do not attack the innocent, women, children and the old, only fight back in self defence, this the teaching of our prophet and that’s exactly what we are doing,” he said. He also said as untrue claims that they are going to attack protesters, saying it is false as they are in total support of the peoples’ struggle and behind the Nigerian people. It was only on Sunday, at a special Armed Forces Remembrance Day service at the National Christian Centre in Abuja that President Goodluck Jonathan revealed that government officials, legislature and security personnel have infiltrated the dreaded Boko Haram sect. As if laying credence to the denial of the Islamic sect which has been credited with the bombing in the nation in recent times, President Goodluck Jonathan abhorred those who have been raiding some parts of the North with bombs, saying that it is an unpatriotic act and a religious sin to kill fellow citizens and innocent people with bombs in the church in order to express one’s grievances. “It is not the behaviour of decent people anywhere in the world. Those politicians who justify killings in order to gain cheap political points are unpatriotic to that extent. If anybody has anything to say, he should say it in a way that he will be listened to and his grievances will be addressed. “But if you think that by going to spray bullets on people, you are pursuing your own agenda and your own end and people should listen to you and in fact they should call you for discussion and some people are backing them and supporting them, it is an unpatriotic act.” Jonathan also spoke about the danger of corruption which he described as an unpatriotic act. He observed that corruption takes from both the rich and poor but does not give, just as it does not recognise selflessness that is key to patriotism. “We call on all Nigerians to practice the act of patriotism. Corruption does not help us. It destroys us,” the president said. http://nationalaccordnewspaper.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=4374:we-didnt-bomb-madalla-church--boko-haram-&catid=35:national-news&Itemid=63 |

rabzy01: Why is it that the Ibos are always the last? Is it now that the FRESH AIR reached iboland? GEJ should declare state of EMERGENCE (not emergency) on these communities for their ability to be the last to breath his fresh air in 2011. Be sure the perpetrotors are not terrorists yet but militants. Know why? They are Ibos not Hausas, christians not muslims. Good point you've made at the ending there. I heard the reporter calling the perpetrators militants. We need to be true to ourselves. This is a terrorist act or is it because (as rabzy01 pointed out) they are ibos not hausas, christains not muslims? |

No Buhari, Northern politicians or the so-called 'Boko Haram' to blame for this one, So where is the talk about Northerners being savages? Just saw the scene on AIT and It's just a horrible scene. lagerwhenindoubt: Unfortunately majority of Nigerians have been breathing soo much FRESH FOUL AIR they are too high to think straight.
1: Boko-Haram is not a new phenomenon in Nigeria/Africa and other parts of the world where internal social/religious/ethnic conflict exists 2: Boko-Haram have elevated their cause from initially attacking the Police to Nigerian Political targets to US (Western) Buildings and Staff to Institutions to Churches and supporters of Government initiatives they deem aggressive. 3: It has been claimed that they have strong ties to Al-Queda and they receive funding from them 4: Thus-far they have transformed their agenda to include a Holy Jihad against Non-believers in Nigeria
Is it me or is this Boko-Haram constantly evolving as each day goes by,how do they manage to keep up their attacks, who is funding them (it seems GEJ is unwilling to release big names and make big arrests)why are Northern Governors quiet on the issue. I mean the Silence is deafening. I confuse oooh and all dat you listed (1 - 4) happened between 2k9 and today. Thats quite a rapid evolution. And to think that the so called "Boko Haram" was founded in maiduguri, I refuse to believe they are capable of carrying out such sophisticated attacks unless if somewhere along the way a much more experienced organization hijacked it. |

Sudan is now South n North Sudan. Somalia hasn't seen peace for some time now. Was it a coincidence that after Tunisia, Egypt set off then Libya? Is Nigeria the next target? From where I stand right now, I see that is most likely. African giants are falling one after the other and who will benefit from that? Certainly not Africans. Africa needs a united Nigeria now more than ever. A Nigeria that doesn't leave its fate to good fortune or luck. I pray that by 2015, Nigeria is still in one piece. |

Pull the viel off your faces, open your eyes Nigerians. Use your head and don't be shallow or narrow minded. Our country is under siege by forces far greater than what even Mohammed Yusuf (BH slain leader) wud imagine himself to have built. Is it a coincidence that countries with oil wealth hardly see peace? Soon the Americans would fly in guns blazing wanting to squash another so-called "Islamist" sect affiliated with the dreaded Al-Qaeda. By then (God forbid) it'll be too late to realise what mess we let ourselves dragged into. |

asha 80: Over 20 Feared Dead In Fresh Jos Violence print
Despite beefing up of security in the state, at least 14 persons were feared dead in fresh violence that erupted in different parts of Plateau state today.
Today’s killings, P.M.NEWS learnt, brings the number of the dead to 25 between yesterday and today in two separate attacks in Babale and Dabwak villages in Jos North and Jos South local government areas.
Eye witnesses told P.M.NEWS that the alleged attackers who raided Babale village Sunday midnight came in three Opel Vectra saloon cars.
According to him, the attackers suspected to be Fulani herdsmen shot arbitrarily and killed more than 14 people and burnt houses, they kept communicating using torchlight.
One of the survivors, Tabitha Danjuma also confirmed that she heard the assailants communicating with some persons she described as members of Special Military Task Force on Jos crisis.
“I think some STF members helped the attackers to carryout the killings”.
Tired and sick of incessant violence and killings, Chairman of Jos North local government council Barrister Timothy Buba described today’s attack as horrible and sad.
Buba hinted that the state and federal governments will do everything to get to the root of the matter and punish the perpetrators of this heinous act in the area.
At Dabwak village near Kuru in Jos South Local Government Area of the state capital, eight people including a 74-year old man, his wife and two grand children were shot dead around 10 p.m. yesterday night by unknown Fulani assailants in the area.
