I did not respond to you but to the person I quoted. He alleged a 4 banger. If you’re aggrieved then take it up with him.

I find the whole thing a distasteful exercise and a lame attempt to come out as a educated motorist by using engine nomenclatures like that.

EgunMogaji out.

I'm not aggrieved about anything.

I find it amusing though that u will term it as a distasteful exercise and a lame attempt to come out as an educated motorist simply because I used the right nomenclature for an engine. Quite frankly, I just find it easier to; it doesn't matter how you feel about it. While your inputs would've been appreciated, you don't matter that much.

It's my thread and my project. If u find anything distasteful, u shd excuse urself rather that stoop to this level of childishness sir.

Kammdann sir. I heresy to think of replacing a V8 with a 4 pot. The M104 is a straight 6 in the early S320/E320 sedans. Not a bad power plant at all.
It's no match for a V8, but ain't nobody in an S320 ever called a slouch either.

My preferred end point is the V8 in 2003 S500. However, I haven't found anyone confident enough to tackle the electrics.

We will get there sha.

Jakumo:
Kukikuli I am actually shedding bitter tears of sorrow, as I note the cruel blasphemy that has been perpetrated against your Mercedes 500 SEC, by converting it from a once formidable rocket-ship, into a lowly 4-cylinder granny-mobile that can barely propel its own weight on a level road. I am in fact currently praying FEVERISHLY, to Ogun, the God of Iron, to forgive this terrible felonious offence that you have committed against the iconic Mercedes brand name and logo.

If only I were currently present in Nigeria, I would gladly finance your plane fare, or bus fare, so that you could to report to my jungle headquarters, where I would instruct my tenured Babalawo to administer several weighty, pepper-flavored slaps to your quivering face, as reformative punishment that will set a worthy example to all other Nairaland readers, who may be misled by this thread, and tempted to embark on any projects that could similarly emasculate, denigrate, and disfigure a vehicle that started its life as v8-powered flagship automotive classic, only to be reduced into an over-sized and under-powered lawn mower, as you have confessed to doing on this sad day.

Be that as it may, you now have the opportunity to redeem yourself, and regain admission into the Nairaland V8 Brethren Fraternity, so read carefully my recommendations regarding what must be done as a matter of paramount urgency.

Remove that horrid, repulsive little 4-cylinder engine from that SEC of yours, along with its transmission, and its nasty little rear differential, in order to package them all for delivery to the junk yard at Owode Onirin, where you will be rewarded with 5 thousand naira CASH, for your trouble.

Next, starting from a clean slate, go and seek out a nice M117 V8 (with 5-liter, and NOT 4.2 liter displacement), along with its dedicated transmission and rear differential, for IMMEDIATE installation into that car, so as to restore it back to the thrust-to-weight ratio intended for that car by the team of German engineers who crafted that masterpiece in 1990.

When these corrective measures have been implemented to the letter, I will formally notify Egun Agba at his Los Angeles Royal Palace, to apprise him of developments. The Honorable Chairman and Exalted OLUMETO of the Nairaland V8 Brethren Fraternity, will then convene a Panel of Investigation that will deliberate on the gravity of your sins, and the humble sincerity of your proposed atonement. It is only after the White Paper has been published, that you will truly know your fate, therefore it is imperative that you commence this mandated journey to redemption right away.

Thank you for your cooperation, and God Bress Nigeria.

Did you say a 4 banger in that behemoth? shocked

I missed that and have removed my previous comment.

This is the problem with using this silly engine numbers like M this and that.

You are wrong sir.

The Mercedes-Benz M104 was a straight-6 automobile engine produced from 1989 through 1999. It was a double overhead cam design with 4 valves per cylinder. It replaced the M103 (V-boot) 6 cylinder engine.

If I just mention V8 engine, u can't tell if it's the old M117 grinding engine in 500SEL or the more powerful M113 in your S500.

That's gangsta.

Crown engine will be too old now.
I could consider the V8 in a GS430 ooo, if the electrics will permit.

Good job. Car is still in Makurdi?

Not. Makurdi was just preliminary works to enable it travel Brought it to Abuja on Sunday for M104 engine, paint and interior.

A quick decision was made that primer looks far better than the terribly deteriorating paint work.

Therefore body was sanded and primed only

Transmission was replaced with an auto.
M103 engine was cranked to life.

The idea was to get the car running so that I can properly assess her. It worked.

Ride was firm and stable even tho engine was burning oil.

Then came the assessment.
Previous owner had taken out the V8 M117 power plant and dropped a tired M103 plus manual transmission.

He just couldn't get it to work.

Interior was a complete mess. Una sabi as abandoned vehicle for Mechanic Village de be. Exactly.

But body was intact.

OK.
So let me start by apologizing for bringing this up late.

Plenty things in between.

So 4 years ago, it literally came to me like a vision. W126 coupe. And I couldn't think of anything else. I started searching.

And just like all good things, I found her rotting away at Mechanic Village in Makurdi. She had been abused and neglected and then left in the sun for 2 years....and it showed.

I found the Mechanic under who's care she was, but he wouldn't let me meet the owner.

One thing one thing sha, I tracked the owner and paid all of N150k for her. N30k extra got me some stripped parts and a tow to my spot.

Is there a thread on this. I will like to subscribe. Are you also making plans on the body kits, fenders and side skirts? cool

What was the stock engine size? 5.0?

I'm considering just AMG front and rear bumpers for now. The car came "padded".
More work will be done on the interior. Better seats, dash, center console, double din entertainment, etc.

Stock engine was 5.5l M117 v8, but previous owner had dropped an m103 L6.

I am considering an m113 later sha. Much later.

ORTOM NOW BENUE PDP LEADER

Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Benue state today conferred leadership of the party on the state Governor, Samuel Ortom.
Chairman of the party in the state, Sir John Ngbede, announced the decision of the leaders at an expanded caucus meeting held at the new Banquet Hall of the Benue Peoples House, Makurdi.
Sir Ngbede stated that with the development, the party had been fused into one indivisible entity without factions.
He announced the constitution of an integration committee which he said will ensure the unification of all members both old and new with him as the chairman and David Tsevende as secretary.
Other members of the committee, which cuts across the the senatorial districts of the state, according to him, are Professor Jacob Omenka, Engr. Solomon Agidani, Mr. Oklo Eneje, Jerry Iorhide, Rt. Hon. Mzenda Iho, Mr. Solomon Kachina, Godwin Donko and Timothy Iorchor.
Former Senate President, Senator David Mark, stated that the leaders have also mandated the Governor to restructure the party in order to accommodate all interests particularly those who defected recently.
He stated that they have resolved to work together so as to win the forthcoming elections at all levels.
Former Governor, Dr Gabriel Suswam announced that certain party positions including the party secretary have been allocated to the governor so as to accommodate his interest.
Dr. Suswam also stated that the Governor purchased forms for all the ad hoc ward delegates and that major stakeholders would participate in the selection process.
Governor Ortom expressed appreciation to the leaders and the state executive committee for reposing confidence in him, adding that to whom much is given, much is also expected.
He solicited support and assured that a level playing ground would be provided for all aspirants.

To get to Obudu, there are two options as flights are not currently going there directly. You can either fly to Calabar and take a drive down for about 8-9 hours or you can fly into Enugu to cut the road trip down to 4 hours.

OR go through Benue. Obudu is 1hr 30mins from Makurdi.
