The fact of the matter is that we should really be speaking African languages. All of the thousand languages of Africa should be made official. Sadly we see too much emphasis put on colonial languages such as English, French and Portuguese. I am tired of all these Uncle Toms and sell-outs who insist on speaking European languages to their children because they think that their children will fail in life if they speak African languages. |
It is an excellent supplication that gives us the true spirit of Ramadaan. All Muslims should recite it. |
@ SAFO, can you speak Yoruba? |
Ideally all education should be through the medium of indigenous languages such as Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, Fula, Tiv, Efik, Kanuri, Bini and Nupe. English should just be taught as a foreign language, along with other foreign languages such as Arabic, Chinese, French and Spanish. However I really hate pidgin English, and I believe it really should have no place in Nigeria. It is really nothing but a disgusting baby-talk. Pidgin English is already threatening the indigenous languages of Liberia and Sierra Leone. It must be destroyed. |
Basically we should only be following the sunna of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and NOT the sunna of Umar. |
How accurate is the following article from Wikipedia?: The Ogoni languages, or Kegboid languages, are the five languages of the Ogoni people of Rivers State, Nigeria. They fall into two clusters, with a limited degree of mutual intelligibility between members of each cluster. However, the Ogoni think of them as separate languages. The Eastern languages are Khana, with a quarter million speakers, Gokana, with about half that number, and Tẹẹ, with an unknown number. The Western languages are Eleme, with about 70,000 speakers, and Baan, with about a tenth that number. |
Personally I consider any African who speaks European languages to their children as nothing but sell-outs. |
I've also heard that many Igbo parents who live in Britain refuse to speak Igbo to their children. Why is this? |
If only Igbo were taught in British schools alongside other foreign languages such as French, Spanish, and German. Recognition should also be given to Yoruba, Hausa, Efik, Tiv, Nupe, Kanuri, and all other Nigerian languages. |
We must never allow any form of English Pidgin to be considered as a proper language. It should only be real languages that we should speak. It is so sad that in Sierra Leone, the real languages such as Mende, Temne, Susu, and Vai, and being threatened by that ugly Pidgin English. |
Mengistu Haile Mariam was the former president of Ethiopia, and is now in exile in Zimbabwe, after having killed tens of thousands of Ethiopians. |
Some say that Mengistu had him buried under his toilet. I don't know if that's true or not. |
Ideally all indigenous languages of Nigeria should be made official. |
To be honest, any English should have no place in Nigeria. |
All Pidgin English should be banned. It is nothing but disgusting baby talk. It is seriously threatening the indigenous languages of Sierra Leone and Liberia, and possibly even Nigeria. We must only speak real indigenous languages. |
That Norwegian fascist is a Freemason. 9/11 was an inside job, a Freemasonic conspiracy. Al-Qaeda is a creation of the Freemasons. Wahhabism was created by the Freemasonry. The Zionist entity was created by the Freemasonry. Do you see a pattern here? It is clear to see that the Freemasonry has been the enemy of Islam right from the beginning, and has been trying all ways to try to destroy Islam. |
Basically what I'm saying is that people should speak these real languages, and not that disgusting Pidgin English which is nothing but baby-talk. |
Yes, I know, I've only just joined this week. But anyway, let me say that I hate Pidgin English, and it is so sad to see real African languages being threatened with extinction due to the use of Pidgin English. The situation is very worrying in Sierra Leone and Liberia. In Sierra Leone I want to hear languages such as Temne, Mende, Susu, and Vai; not that horrible Pidgin English that they call Krio. |
I hate Pidgin English. It really is an insult to Africa, because when foreigners hear Africans speaking it, they might think that they have no languages of their own. Africa has around a thousand languages, and they should all be promoted. Just think of the great languages of Nigeria such as Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, Fula, Efik, Kanuri, Tiv, Nupe, and so many more. Pidgin English is just like baby talk, and I hate it so much. I think of those who speak it as sell-outs. |
Were they really speaking Igbo? I could hear some Pidgin English mixed with it. |
I say this because, sadly in many African countries, there is too much emphasis put on the study of former colonial languages such as English, French, and Portuguese. I'm not Nigerian but I love the great languages of Nigeria such as Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, Fulani, Tiv, Efik, and Kanuri. It would be nice if all these languages could be made official. I find it so sad that many people speak Pidgin English instead of these real African languages. |
