The Centre for Human Rights and Social Justice, has cautioned Governor Rauf Aregbsola of Osun State to stop
threatening the civil servants and teachers in over votes during the forthcoming
governorship election. The group urged the governor to seek votes without intimidating,
threatening and causing disaffection among workers in the state. In a statement by its
Executive Chairman, Mr. Adeniyi Sulaiman, the group said the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria gives every citizen of the country the right to vote and be voted for and no person no matter how highly placed should hinder them from exercising their democratic rights. Sulaiman urged the people and workers in the state to shun
intimidation from the state government and vote according to their conscience during the August 9 governorship
election. He said, “Periodically, in
a democracy, people
used their voting right to change their leaders and they should not be coerced or intimidated to vote for any candidate in an election by the government. The voting during an
election should be a
free will right in choosing a credible

When we first started he wz very broke, We prayed along the line and he
gt a good and better Job,gt a new apartment and the latest phone then.He
said I wz entitled to part of his salary,Bt i told him to open a
savings acct and be keeping it there for his own future use,..After
saving for 3months, I told him my plans for his Life, To use his OND for
his Direct entry at OAU....He was Glad abt this,After saving closed to
130k in the 9th mnt, and I have started the processing of his admission,
He started misbehaving, I'l call he wont pick,he wont send/reply mssg,
He started flexing to the fullest etc..
At the end, the relatnship wz over....I gt it difficult to forgt abt the
whole issue.. Bt i took the bold step of faith and forgt abt him.

Edo State Government has reversed the planned competency test for teachers in the state and recalled the 936 teachers whose names were deleted from the payroll over certificate discrepancies
and age falsification. Government also announced the immediate extension of the relativity to teachers in the state public schools. Making the announcements
Thursday, Governor Adams Oshiomhole during a meeting with the Nigeria Union of Teachers [NUT] and the Nigeria Labour Congress [NLC] said “On assumption of office, it was very clear to me and my colleagues that our future is defined by the level of investment in education and the quality of the basic education we provide for our children and that is why we have devoted resources to the rebuilding of our Primary Schools, Junior and Senior Secondary Schools. “For me, it was clear coming from my own background, I had obligation to restore dignity to the educational sector in the state. Basic education is like the foundation of a house. If the foundation is weak, the building will collapse but if the foundation be strong, it will withstand the test of time. It is easier to re
roof than to re build a complete house” He said the need to ensure the future of the
state is not by compromising the future of the Edo child, but the necessity and action to redefine the educational system in the state, He said this was why the state government was committed to carry out competency test. Oshiomhole however, noted that having discovered that some of our teachers were not qualified or up to date with recent teaching methods, government insisted that competency test must be seen in this light. “But having listened to all suggestions and consultations with various groups, government has agreed to set aside the competency or assessment test in order to re assure Edo workers that government has no intention to sack anyone”, he stressed.
