Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi, is smiling to the bank even as Nigerians, companies and members of the Nigeria Football Federation weep bitterly for missing the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations. The Minister of Sports, Tammy Danagogo, has paid Keshi N14m for the past two months, according to a report by Africanfootball.com. It was learnt that the transaction was carried out without the knowledge of the board of the Nigeria Football Federation – a move experts say further undermines the authority of the NFF over the coach. It was understood that Keshi was paid for October and November even though there is no contractual agreement between the coach and the NFF. The Special Media Assistant to the sports minister, Patrick Omorodion, who confirmed the payment, however told The PUNCH that the money was not meant for Keshi alone. “The money was not paid to only Keshi but it meant for the entire coaching crew. What was done by the ministry was just to fulfil an agreement earlier reached with the coaches. At the peak of the NFF crisis and with urgent matches to play, the minister stepped in and invited Keshi to handle those games after which it would be purely left for the NFF to retain him or ask another coach to take over.” But the NFF officials say that the explanation cannot stand as the minister has quietly taken over their role which has ultimately made nonsense their position as the immediate employers of Keshi and to whom the coach should report to. A member said, “The minister has been paying Keshi directly from the NFF subvention without any input from the NFF. This cannot be good for the relationship between employer and employee.” Keshi was in charge for the Equatorial Guinea 2015 qualifiers double header against Sudan in October and then the qualifiers against Congo and South Africa last month. But he was sacked midway into the qualifiers when it became very doubtful if the country could qualify with him in charge.. When he was asked to go, the NFF announced a former coach of the Eagles Shaibu Amodu to take charge of the team for the remaining two matches but they had to rescind their earlier decision after Nigeria President Goodluck Jonathan asked that he should be restated. Even though most Nigerians have asked for a new coach, the NFF members have become helpless under the prevailing condition. Even though the NFF president Amaju Pinnick has maintained a contract has not been agreed with Keshi, followers of the game in Nigeria see the N7m payment as acceding to Keshi’s demand that his pay be increased to that amount. The amount is N2m raise from what he received in his initial contract, which ran out after the World Cup in Brazil. http://www.punchng.com/sports/minister-pays-keshi-n14m/ |

This is a real story of a young Ex-Unilag girl who passed away last month. Her name is Lola. She was hit by a car at Oyingbo on her way to work at Apapa. She was working with MTN. She had a boy friend named Emeka, a banker who was recently transferred to Abuja. Both of them were true lovers. She spent half of the day and most night talking with Emeka on her phone. Lola's family knew about their relationship. Emeka was very close to Lola's family in spite of the tribal differences. (just imagine their love.) Before she passed away at LUTH, she told her friends:"If I pass away, please bury me with my cell phone"She also said the same thing to her parents. After her death at LUTH, the attendants couldn't carry her body to the mortuary. A lot of them tried to do so but couldn't. So they went to call a priest in church who had the gift of communicating with the dead. He sprinkled some salt and water on the body and started speaking to himself slowly. After a few minutes, he said:"this girl is missing something". Then her friends told them about her intention to be buried with her phone. They asked them to bring a coffin, and then they opened it and placed her phone inside the casket. After that, they tried to carry the body which could now be moved and they carried it away easily. Everyone was shocked. A day later which was Lola's birthday, Emeka came to their house with gifts but was so shocked to receive the news. He couldn't believe because he still spoke with Lola the previous day, He then tried calling her phone again in their presence and behold! It rang and Lola picked it and they were chatting. They called the priest to come and intervene and when he came and prayed for 5 hours,It was revealed that MTN is everywhere you go. Chill! Don't hate me yet, because I'm also looking for the idiot that composed this......lolz. But u like gist sha!Oya pass it on! |

www.thenationonlineng.net/new/uche-proud-to-score-100th-goal/ Villarreal striker Ikechukwu Uche is in cloud nine after reaching the 100 – goal milestone in Spain following his brace against Almeria on Sunday. The Nigeria international has now joined an elite group of players to have scored 100 goals in the Spanish championships, including Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. The 30 year old took to social media on Monday to celebrate the landmark. “Great game last night, very proud to have scored my 100th goal in Spain. Just want to thank everyone for the support,”he tweeted. The Yellow Submarine defeated Almeria, who featured Ramon Azeez, 2 – 0, thanks to goals on either side of the half by Ikechukwu Uche. A breakdown of Ikechukwu Uche’s goals revealed that he netted 2 goals for Racing Ferrol, 50 for Recreativo de Huelva while he registered his name on the score – sheet 36 times for Getafe, Real Zaragoza, Granada and Villarreal. The 30 – year – old is currently locked in talks with the Villarreal power-brokers over the extension of his contract, which expires at the end of this season. Meanwhile, Uche has all but confirmed that he will be signing a new contract at El Madrigal. With his current deal due to expire at the end of the season, the Nigerian was linked with a January exit, and up until recently it was believed he was not too keen on extending his contract. While speaking to reporters following the 2-0 triumph over Almeria, where he scored both goals for the Yellow Submarine, Uche confirmed the contract talks were taking place and hinted an agreement could be reached soon. The Nigerian striker has spent his entire professional career in Spain, having joined Racing Ferrol in 2002 and going on to play for Recreativo Huelva, Getafe, Zaragoza and Villarreal. It was at El Madrigal that Uche enjoyed the best period of his career, bagging 14 league goals in each of the first two seasons at the club. He has continued the rich vein of form this season, netting three times in six appearances. |

Nigeria’s President, Goodluck Jonathan, on Thursday said neither he nor any governor in the country can claim the credit for winning the war against Ebola. Rivers and Lagos are the two Nigerian states hit by the Ebola outbreak. The federal government said the two states are now free of the deadly virus. According to Mr. Jonathan, the government could not have succeeded in ridding the country of Ebola virus without the cooperation of the Nigerian masses. The President said these at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, during the launch of Elumelu Nigeria Empowerment Fund, ENEF, to support victims of terrorism in the country’s North-east zone. He used the occasion to thank Nigerians for buying into the Ebola campaign, saying that no government could have performed magic to rid the county of the deadly virus without the peoples’ support. Mr. Jonathan, however, commended Nigerians for following the health guidelines set out by government, some of which was a departure from the norm. He said, “When government said we must be mindful of gatherings, of handshakes and that we should not move corpse unnecessarily,” Nigerians heeded the advice. He noted that even churches that he thought would resist the directive by still using a single cup to serve the Holy Communion to its members suspended the practice during the Ebola war. Continuing, he said, “Nigerians became mindful. Friends stopped embracing themselves saying until we get out of Ebola. “So it (Ebola campaign) had the buy-in of the populace and that is why we succeeded so fast otherwise we couldn’t have. “There is no magic government could have used to solve that problem. No President or state governor will claim any credit. The credit should go to the ordinary Nigerians for the cooperation and their buy-in,” Mr. Jonathan said. By his comment, the President appears to be reacting to remarks by top members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, including Governors Babatunde Fasola of Lagos State and Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State, who have said the Federal Government did very little to contend the deadly virus and should therefore not claim credit for winning the war. While speaking at the formal declaration of a former Head of State, Muhamadu Buhari, for the APC’s presidential ticket at the Eagle Square, Abuja, on Wednesday, Mr. Amaechi, said Nigeria’s flaunted success in the fight against Ebola is a fallacy. He insisted that the Rivers State Government spent a whopping N1.4billion to stop the outbreak of the disease. He faulted claims by Mr. Jonathan’s ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, that the Federal Government successfully contained the outbreak. He said, “I hear PDP and Mr. President claiming the glory of having fought Ebola. I asked one simple question: Rivers state government spent 1,406 billion to fight Ebola, the Federal Government brought N200m just last week. If we were waiting for that N200m, Ebola would have spread round Rivers State,” he said. He said his colleague, Mr.Fashola, was also “fully in charge of the Ebola drive in his state”. Further deriding the Federal Government, Mr. Amaechi said “Apart from announcing the number of patients, what did the Federal Government do for us? So, why did they politicise Ebola.” Meanwhile, Mr. Jonathan said the Federal Government has made a donation of N250 million to the ENEF, saying that the government will continue its sustained security operations to eliminate insurgency and restore law and order in the country. Mr. Jonathan noted that the prolonged case of insurgency in the zone has led to the displacement of the population, destruction of infrastructure and the collapse of the economy in the area. The rehabilitation of communities affected by the crisis, the President said, would require not only government’s intervention but also that of the private sector. “I have realized over time that government alone cannot solve human problems. https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/169630-no-governor-can-take-credit-for-wining-ebola-war-jonathan.html |

Besides, saTANists, PDP what's your business in APC's choice of Combo...why you forming care; under the pretence of National unity?? *Draws all the mucour in my throat and spits on the OP's face*.. ;DIt shows that we are still not ready for a change in this country..if @ these stage issues like religion and ethnicity should still be a yardstick for choosing our leader!. What saddens me more is that it's even graduates in these forum that is championing this course. Yet we all say..'We're the leaders of tomorrow'..how can that be?? When we still reason like the elderly ones..that is still why the likes of IBB still believe that we're still like them in reasoning, if not in age. The US in 2008 proved to the world that their own form of democracy is head and shoulder above other countries own, when they voted Obama...Am sure if it was in Naija, some persons would have ruled him out because 'his father isn't a Nigerian by birth'..Don't forget America is also a more complex state than Nigeria made up of different ethnic group and race...yet, are they having any internal crisis
