horsepower102: And how much has this 65% to region reduced the price of tomato and pepper compared to that of north or southwest. Are you people living far better than other people from other parts of the country? You see my worries, the level of tribalism here(nairaland) is so annoying that we hardly read thought provoking contents. One would have to scroll extensively to find a reasonable comment devoid of religion or regional sentiment and stupidity. Nothing will change if you guys continue this empty battle of "I pass ma neighbor" |

Hi Nlders, Well, I don't know if this should be here or Philosophy section! ![]() So, I was awake sometime around after two(am) randomly looking for something new to watch on TV. As some people could tell, there's nothing new aside the bombing of Gaza strip, the protest from different countries calling for the bombs to stop dropping and the Gaza's biggest hospital facing a collapse due to lack of fuel, water and medicine. With heavy heart to the immature babies in incubators and innocent victims from both sides, I moved on, flipped more stations and got to one of our local stations where you sometimes see some of these MCs/presenters with funny, odd colored hair do walking in different streets asking random people questions for cruise sake. However, I was captivated with this particular question the mc asked. What would you do, if you're a God for one(1) week?, below were some the answers from people; * An elderly woman said, she would bless(no specifics) everyone in the world * A man said, he would gift one car, one house to everyone *Another man said, his family will be the first priority before any other thing. * A young lady said, she's going to bless everyone, heal people who are suffering from one ailment to another. * One guy said, he's going to take away the corrupt nature in every man. Saying that Naija is like this because of corruption. * A dude said, he would replace religion(christianity and Islam) with Unity.. * Lastly, he asked two friends abi na gist mates, none of them had anything to say, just smiling.. ![]() Now, there I am, watching and thinking how homo sapiens were simply listing and trying to fix the flaws of their creator. As for me, food hunger should not be part of the human body. People should eat because they want to. Like, social eating with family and friends(soul food kind of thing), or maybe you like that particular meal and would love to enjoy it but not for nourishing the body nor fighting starvation that leads to malnutrition. Tell yours. |

theophorus: I doubt if it has peaked. If you ask me of my opinion, I would suggest the speculators and dollar investors should maintain their bullish trend on the USD/NGN pair/chart. Simply for the following; 1. The fundamental analysis(news on macro/micro economy) from Nigeria is not hawkish per se, so the fall would continue. 2. Relational analysis, what is the current performance of the Naija stock market and how is it helping the naira. See, if a country's stock market, for example, the London stock market is performing good it will reflect in the pound sterling. 3. As for numbers, the psychological level of $1 =NGN1000 was broken in the black market while that of the official market is at 840 or so playing catch up. Based on trend experience, I could easily say the official rate would still target the psychological level of 1000 too, before making a short correction(resistance) below the 1000. Then move pass the 1000 again if nothing serious for long time measures are done to defend the Naira. 1 Like 1 Share |

IbeOkehie: Favored as how? All these you mentioned about colonialism, civil war and the rest aren't peculiar to Nigeria, so save us the specialty complex of God is a Nigerian! Besides, we are not making oil money like before, again, inflation has eroded the purchasing power of the naira, population is on the raise.. We now import more food than before to feed more mouths in this unemployed era of insecurity with plenty guns around. Charts take a lot of time(months, years) to trend up or down. Now, let me highlight the few traits Reno mentioned and those same traits happened in Zimbabwe and Weimar that led to hyperinflation. There is a principle which states the present is the key to past. The points Reno is making: - $1.5 billion monthly to defend the naira! He is asking, where will the money come from? - Remember he said, there is no income coming in right now, except diaspora remittance. He Also said, the previous regime printed trillions of Naira(money that has no backing beyond just paper). See below, the similarities of what caused the inflation (hyper) in Weinar republic and Zimbabwe and other affected countries. 1. Limited money to buy imported goods(Naija is import base) 2. Losing colonies/allies and couldn't rely on them for cheap raw materials.( no trust for your currency). 3. Billions of local currency hoarded during war/economic crisis suddenly came back into circulation (many are currently hoarding the Buhari printed trillions). 4. Printed vast amount of money to pay debt, finance military war and import food(financing boko war, bandits and ipob) 5. A wheelbarrow full of money couldn't buy a Newspaper. 6. Farmers refused to sell their produce for worthless money( remember, herdsmen no even dey give farmers peace, already) 7. Food riot broke out, and people marched into the country side to loot the farms. 8. Institutional corruption 9. Policy mismanagement 10. Law and order broke down 11. Hyperinflation enabled Adolf Hitler to gain power. We need to be practical in our dealings. Tell us if we have not been experiencing some of these things above. |

bjtinz: You are a realist. Some of these guys supporting Tinubu, Obi and Atiku, trying to defend them with all their cliche are quite annoying! Here we are as a country going through many problems, and this inflation is no joke. Reno may be many things, some of us don't even care how he is living his life. However, here is a man giving Nigerians and journalists an info to do something about it, cos it concerns all of us, especially us the average joes without any government connect. But these tribal losers would rather trivialize a situation that is very important to many individuals cos of useless support they have for an individual. From all indications, we are headed the zimbabwe and Venezuela ways of hyperinflation. These stupid fvxkz no longer talk about the situations on ground and ways out of it, they only insult and counter insult each other. The Zimbabwe gov' printed money to pay debt, financed the Congo war and imported food. They increased the salaries of Army and govnment officials, looting, didn't curtail other forms of government spending, institutional corruption, poorly structured land reforms caused decline in food production, which raised food prices. If you check, you'd find those zim', Venezuela ,Weimar, Lebanon and other countries where hyperinflation were experienced playing right before us. 3 Likes |

HRHQueenPhil: What companion are you talking about? Like a man should always adjust his ways to accommodate what he doesn't like, or keeping your space in a particular way just for another person all in the name of a woman to change the settings. Abi, na the one of waste, since my brother married, he became grey faster than when we were together. What about my banker friend wey dey get extra money before marriage while now na different news. My own experience nko, kept a woman for one week only to be spending more than how I dey spend as a lone guy who is so fulfilled in his little space. They(females) try to take away your focus if it doesn't please them. My married brother and two married friends advised me not to get into the plantation (marriage) if I want to maintain the freedom I am enjoying now... They know I know already. Less I forget, these women in our lives are not bad women, they are just dealing with their damn hormones.. Lastly, you can take this to the bank, "if they are not happy then you shouldn't be happy, too". you having fun without them is evil to them and should be punishable. Now, these are what some men like us want from women. - Fill our belly(optional, cos we can do it) - empty our balls(fvck us) - Let us be (leave us alone). 13 Likes 3 Shares |

RealEzee: Them come dey drag USA and EU for the matter. If those ones begin sanction us, na hyperinflation in due time be that ohh.. They did it(sanctions) to Mugabe after he took farms from the white farmers and gave them to inexperienced black Zimbabweans.. After all, the US gov and EU never denied their support for Israel and are ready to mess any country supporting Hamas abi na Palestine. Someone even said the likes of China, Russia and Iran are supporting Palestinians. We know how big these countries are and they are wise in their dealings. Unlike Nigeria, where our internal problems are numerous, with the current inflation waiting to mess up things the more. Just little sanctions from the west would break the last straw.. And the chaos go burst, complete break down of law and order. Maybe by then, no stupid fvxkz go stand by any Palestine or Israel. We should learn to mind our business, especially if the thing no go favor us. |

Unlike the early late 80s and 90s, drugs were not that common and easily accessed. So, we have a generation of more drug addicts... albert2512:0000 When I told some folks here that we don't need generals in present Nigeria, some people think I don't know what I am saying! These guys don't do shiiit, they are not productive, however, Nigeria is producing many of them annually just to pay them jumbo benefits after retirement. And people expect naira not to fall against the dollar. And they steal without remorse. They are in some open competition with the politicians.. 3 Likes 1 Share |

They keep saying its short term. Few years from now,by the time you know it, it would be the Venezuela experience.. ![]() Since last year November, I knew 1 dollar would hit a thousand naira in 2023. The naira would only continue to go down,it would only make Lil correction by defending for a while and the down trend would resume again for as long as they(the gov) continue in their crooked, olodo and unpatriotic ways... 3 Likes |

First,my thought is, how would the bastard who stabbed her be thinking or feeling right now knowing he had taken the life of another human for a petty thing. The hospital is secondary in the situation. ![]() Like bluearrow said, the one chance thing is becoming rampant in Abj. They should start by putting measures to curb it or it becomes worse than this. Cos, the one chance guys would become deadlier with the mindset of if I am caught, then it is game over. Why dont we go all out to protect ourselves. 1 Like |

Winters23: Coup no fit happen for Naija for this era. Nigeria is not Burkina Faso, Niger nor Guinea.. Our military is quite divided and no region would likely take shiiits from any Junta. It probably might mark the end of Nigeria. The stupid opportunists in uniforms with state resources from the above countries do not have our population and current threats like the boko boys, bandits, militias groups.. Hence, it was easier for them to take the states without any resistance. Nigeria case go shock any stupid man wey dey presently think say na uniform and big guns him go use collect power and remain there. Me no sabi live under intimidation oh. I go find a resistant army join or try to leave the country. ![]() |
