Family / Re: Flogging/beating: Psychological Point Of View by labusinessguide: 10:41pm On Dec 30, 2019 |
dawnomike: On the contrary, what is the case is that parents apply old approach with the view of getting better results. Most times, the child is infused with training that means little or no good to him or her So it's basically not the child but the parent's approach. 1 Like |
Family / Flogging/beating: Psychological Point Of View by labusinessguide: 10:13pm On Dec 30, 2019 |
We were taught that beating, flogging, or using a combination of both is one of the best ways to instill discipline in a child. To back it up, we quote the Bible verse that says, 'Spear the rod and spoil the child'. And with this backing, we flog, beat, and use any physical means to correct the child. Sadly, beating doesn't instill discipline, it destroys the psychological well-being of children, who grow to transfer the same pain and plight to those around them and to their children. I will highlight the dangers of beating in a bit. 1. Low Self-esteem, Timidity, Poor Communication Skills. Beating instills fear and timidity to children. It makes them hide, and unable to process inner strength and thought. In some cases, beating only hardens their indiscipline which makes them a terror to the society and themselves. 2. Lifetime disability. If we all agree that the body of a child is delicate and prone to injury, it means that beating can expose them to brain/body vein issues which will hinder them from maximising the best of their humanity. There are many cases of parents who gave their children a permanent injury as a result of beating, and they're still battling with those disabilities till date. 3. Mental health issues Children will always be children, expecting them to behave like adults when they're children is to deliberately distort the mental development of the child, thereby changing the natural progression of human evolution. When you disrupt a child's mental development, you create a chaotic system which may push the child to behave in a manner that's unhealthy and unsafe for him or herself. Sometimes, it can breed antisocial behaviour, and in rare cases mental illness. What then is the best way to correct children? Am I by any means suggesting that beating should be totally abolished? YES! What then will work? 1. Withdraw Privileges. Every child craves for something. Could be cartoon , games, etc. Withdrawal of privileges is one of the most effective way to punish a child 2. Connect with their mind. The most critical job in raising a child is to help them have a. Conscience b. Emotion C. Character d. Knowledge Connecting with a child is the best way to help them understand how pained you are. This will boost their communication skills, emotion, and self confidence. 3. Self Punishment. This is the best approach, if/whenever you think of flogging a child. Pick pin, Kneeling down, carrying a load in the air, etc. When you give your child such punishment, they will never forget that in a hurry. A combination of these three will do much more than what beating and flogging will achieve in child development. Finally, it's okay to note that the development processes in children, teen-agers, and young adolescent is one that needs patience, understanding, maturity, and open mind to deal with. Don't create a disaster by using Cain to whip human in the bid to install discipline, you may be destroying God's creation in the process. Yours, AV 2 Likes |

This is bad news... I will explain Ordinarily people invest in TB to get good returns. CBN is reducing the return rate interest lower than what it USED to be, and also increasing the time frame thereby killing turnover and expected return on investment. Hope that made sense to you 6 Likes |

Computers / Used Laptop Experience by labusinessguide: 8:10am On Nov 01, 2019 |
So lately I've been getting recommendations for used laptops, and I'm here to seek for your opinion. What's your experience with used laptops? Is it worth the hype or is it one of those purchases that leaves you with more regrets than gratitude? I must admit that I've never patronised used products when it comes to electronics. But then again, looking at cutting cost economy, is this a worthy consideration? Kindly share your thoughts and experiences. I appreciate in advance.
