Anumber of victims kidnapped by Boko Haram, including some of the abducted Chibok schoolgirls have escaped from their captors.

SaharaReporters reports that the escapees are still with the military.

A source privy to the information confirmed the news to SaharaReporters, saying, “They are many and not only Chibok girls alone; they are made up of a variety of women abducted by Boko Haram terrorists.”

It was that some parents had been contacted by government officials and may reunite with their loved ones in Maiduguri, Borno State, soon.

The South West security outfit, otherwise known as Amotekun, on Wednesday evening, has arrested a young man suspected to be kidnapper allegedly masquerading as a lunatic in Ikere Ekiti, headquarters of Ikere local government area of Ekiti State.

He was arrested on Wednesday evening at opposite Alade filling station, Oke Osun area, Akure road in the town.

Newsflash gathered that charms, phone, ropes and other dangerous weapons were found in his possession.

Some residents who could identify the suspect said he had always been presenting as a lunatic on the street not knowing that he was involved in such devilish act.

Primate Ayodele while congratulating Joe Biden on his inauguration as the President of the United States, the cleric advised the Democrat politician to take good care of his health.

Unknown gunmen suspected to be bandits have killed 37 people and many others missing in a Dutsin Gari village, Kanoma district in the Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

It was gathered that the bandits arrived at Dutsin Gari on motorbikes after blocking the community’s entry and exit points before unleashing terror on the defenceless residents on Wednesday.

The bandits also rustled several cows belonging to the villagers.

Ekiti State governor, Kayode Fayemi, has imposed a curfew from 8.00 pm to 6.00am and as well banned all gatherings of more than 20 people in the state until further notice.

These restrictions take effect from 5am on Monday, January 11, 2021.

The State Commissioner for Information and Values Orientation, Hon Akinbowale Omole, announced these new guidelines in Ado-Ekiti on Sunday, citing the alarming rate at which the second wave of COVID-19 was spreading in Nigeria and elsewhere as reason for these drastic steps.

Residents in the Orile area of Lagos State on Thursday were shocked after discovering a tunnel under a bridge which connects to Lagos Island.
A tunnel believed to be used by kidnappers and ritualists.

Newsflash247 gathered that when the residents searched the tunnel, they found several school pupils’ uniforms, a generator set, an air conditioner and other house items.

It was learnt that one suspect was caught by the residents, and instead of taking him to the police station, an angry mob descended on him and beat him to death.

Following the certificate forgery suit instituted against Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State by the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Wednesday, has adjourned the suit until Janaury 7 for parties to adopt their final written addresses.

The parties; the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr William Edobor, Obaseki, the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) are to adopt their final written addresses as their brief of arguments in the suit.

At the resumed hearing on Wednesday, Obaseki called another witness, Prof. Eghosa Osaghae, a professor of Comparative Politics from the University of Ibadan.


Osaghae, a subpoenaed witness, tendered a Certified True Copy (CTC) of a Bachelor of Science degree certificate in Political Science that was awarded to him by the University of Ibadan on July 6, 1979.

The Magistrate court sitting in Abuja on Tuesday, has ordered the remand of the Sahara Reporters publisher, Omoyele Sowore and four others at the Force CIID facility in Area 10, Abuja till January 8 for ruling on the bail application.

Sowore was arrested by the police for leading a protest against bad governance on New Year’s Eve in Abuja.

They subsequently had taken to a police unit infamously known as ‘Abattoir’ in the Lokogoma area of the FCT.

Sowore, who arrived at the Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja wearing handcuffs on Tuesday morning.

The large-sized posters appeared in places in Ado Ekiti metropolis like such as Ajilosun, Basiri, Ijigbo, Ilawe Road, Okeyinmi, as well as other towns like Ikere Ekiti and Ifaki.

Residents were seen clustering around the posters and discussing issues surrounding the politics of the state.

The Kano State Fire Service says 134 lives and property worth N635 million were lost to fire incidents in the state from January 1 to December 31, 2020.

The State Public Relations Officer of the Service, Alhaji Saidu Muhammad said this while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Kano.

Muhammad explained that the service also saved property worth N2.56 billion and 1,077 lives in 786 fire incidents during the period.

He said, “Most of the fire outbreaks were caused by carelessness in handling cooking gas, use of inferior electrical appliances and poor wiring in homes.

Two University Professors who graduated at the University of Ibadan along with the Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, Emmanuel Dele Balogun and Maikano Asekomhe have testified against him.

The Professors tendered exhibits, which include their original Degree Certificates to court.

Obaseki is in court defending an alleged certificate forgery suit instituted against him by his former political party, the All Progressives Congress APC.
The Professors, who graduated at the University of Ibadan along with the Governor, submitted the certificates for the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja to compare and contrast in order to arrive at a just conclusion in the suit.

The First Nigerian Professor of Computer Science, Professor Olu Longe, is dead at the age of 88 years after a brief illness.

Professor Olumide Babatope Longe died on Monday evening in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

He is a citizen of Ekiti State, precisely Ikere Ekiti, headquarter of Ikere local government area.

Professor Longe was born on March 20, 1932 at his country home, Ikere Ekiti.

He attended St. Luke’s primary school (now Holy Trinity Primary school) in Ikere Ekiti between 1938 to 1946.

The renowned Professor of Computer Science attended Christ’s School, Ado-Ekiti for his Secondary school education between 1947 to 1951.

Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde, has said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will still control the affairs of Ondo State, saying what happened in Bayelsa State could still happen in Ondo.

Recall that Governor Akeredolu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) had defeated the PDP candidate in the October 10, 2020 Ondo Governorship election, Eyitayo Jegede and his Deputy Governor and candidate of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Agboola Ajayi, for a second term.

Governor Akeredolu was returned elected after polling the highest number of votes in the keenly-contested poll conducted on Saturday, October 20.

The governor secured 292,830 of the total votes, 97,039 more votes than his closest rival Eyitayo Jegede, who got 195,791 votes.

The incumbent governor won 15 of the 18 Local Government Areas results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) while his closest rival, Jegede, won in three local government areas and Ajayi failed to win none, including his LGA where he lost to his principal.

A month ago, the gunmen suspended to be Fulani had kidnapped Daramola Idown along Ikere – Ise road, in Ikere Local government area of Ekiti State, on Sunday, October 11, 2020.

Daramola Idowu was kidnapped alongside his son, Daramola Olorunsola and two others.

The kidnappers demanded N100m as ransom on each of the four victims.

Some gunmen on Saturday evening killed a councillor representing Ward 6 Sagbama Council Area of Bayelsa State, Hon Karma Agagowei.

Though, the chairman of the screening committee, Alhaji Tijani Tumsa, refused to mention the name of the disqualified aspirant while submitting the report of the committee to the National Secretary of the party’s Caretaker/Extra-Ordinary National Convention Planning Committee (CEONCPC), Senator Akpan Udoedehe, at the party National Secretariat in Abuja on Friday.

Source gathered that that the person was Segun Abraham believed to be a loyalist of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Abraham had in 2016 lost out to Gov. Rotimi Akeredolu in circumstances that nearly threatened the victory of the party at the polls.

Gal Pissetzky, the legal representative of alleged Internet fraudster, Ramon Abbas, popularly known as Hushpuppi, has said he has a legitimate real estate.

The lawyer said Hushpuppi is not a fraudster and his client ran legitimate businesses including real estate, according to Forbes.

Gal Pissetzky said Hushpuppi has a good chance of beating the fraud allegations against him.

The lawyer said, he planned to put up “vigorous defence to get him out of the case.”, the Punch reports.

Pissetzky is a top Chicago-based criminal defence attorney and has been involved in many notable cases in the United States of America.

Hushpuppi was arrested by the Dubai authorities in a sting operation.

Magu was suspended to allow him face the probe into the allegations against him.

He appeared before a panel probing allegations of gross misconduct against him on Monday. The panel is led by Ayo Salami, a retired justice of the appeal court.

Ordinary Nigerians are shut out of slots as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Sadiya Umar Farouq, has been giving out 150 slots to some All Progressives Congress governors in the ongoing N-Power recruitment exercise.

According to the Sahara Reporters reported how Sadiya Umar Farouq, had converted the N-Power scheme to political patronage.

A recent discovery shows that the minister has been giving out free slots to politicians and influential individuals with at least 150 slots given to some governors in the country, Sahara Reporters reports.

Sources privy to the ongoing scandal said the slots were mainly given to governors belonging to the All Progressives Congress.
