Politics / Re: Racist British Woman Captured On Videotape by Lacoolmley: 10:25pm On Nov 29, 2011
@Sagamite: Sorry dear, I never told you I was looking for a job and don’t think I am as desperate as you to serve a white man. Even at work, silent racism evident and believe me its worst than what that woman did. But not to worry, keep scooping your poop for them so you can “feel among” while drinking coffee. Of course, there is no way I can come on a public forum and start telling you about my success or failure in life but if your continued self enforced slavery makes you feel successful, then enjoy.

@Justwise: No no no, I am not as bad as the woman and I am not racist. Why will they claim benefits in Nigeria when we don’t have a benefit system? We all know about the economic situation and the job market in Europe at the moment which is part of why the intolerance has increased. Their involvement in EU is even a problem which is why they complain about the Polish etc. But at least they are seen as closer to them than blacks. I won’t hate someone so much as to call them monkey and tell them to go back to their fucking country or state in Nigeria.

Evidence! They put immigration control measures which affect blacks the most. Jobs are offered to UK and EU immigrants first before blacks no matter the level of education. I am not saying that they are all bad as they are looking out for their own. That fact that someone stood up to hug the black guy doesn’t change the way most of them feel. Even the conservatives were voted in based on their promise to tackle immigration. It was a better platform than the BNP that went all out to show they hated blacks.

Someone said this lady represents most English people and some people are not happy with that statement. Even though we have our own black on black problems, it is just too obvious that the English want the blacks out of their country.

It’s a surprise how the boy’s Ibo name has become an issue here for some people. Then we complain when we are racially insulted by the whites. How can somebody conclude that the boy is answering his mother’s name to show that his father was not involved in his life? It might even be because of ethnic bigotry in the country as displayed here that made his parents allow his Ibo and non Ibo names to reflect on his identity.
Politics / Re: Why Do Nigerian Leaders Have Inferiority Complex? by Lacoolmley: 1:20am On Nov 29, 2011
@OP, erm, let’s pretend you didn’t add that last line about Jesus for the sake of not deviating from the main issue. Our Government isn’t perfect and we don’t expect a 51-year old country to be like a 200-year old one overnight. I believe if we had exchanged knowledge with the colonial masters rather than mirrors and bicycles, we would have been on a faster lane to development. It’s not that we can’t do good jobs, but look at roads constructed by Nigerian contractors and compare them to the ones constructed by the foreigners. Our people that have acquired the necessary skills abroad to do the job tend to want to stay away and criticize the Government. But then, how would they want to come back to an unsafe environment? Yet, the same people that complain about the Government harbour criminals. The circle continues. Please note that I am not saying we shouldn’t invest in our own, but I am trying to point out that it is not an automatic process. We still need to learn from the foreigners and the ones that have been exposed to the foreign way of doing things should return home.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: I'm tired of looking for a job by Lacoolmley: 10:58am On Nov 20, 2011
Poster is looking for job. Someone is asking for his qualifications and all as she might have something for him. Another sharp guy has already sent in his speculative application while the poster is still asking questions. Speed counts as well but most importantly, Pray. In the end, everything will be fine. Best wishes.

Politics / Re: Jonathan Proves To Be The Worst Leader! by Lacoolmley: 12:26pm On Nov 08, 2011
Na waa o!
Make una leave am. 9ja no easy to rule.
If any leader enters that position and doesn't handle matters delicately, it could lead to a complete breakdown of the country.
Nigeria is very unique in its own way and can't automatically follow a western model to handle social issues without making modifications, na small small. The world is currently in hard times. People like Obama, Cameron are also not finding it easy so Jonathan is facing his own here in Nigeria. Many people will think dividing the nation would solve the whole problem but na lie. Jonathan might not be the leader but he was the best of the other major candidates. I don't believe he is folding his arms and watching even if he is slow to action. Time will tell
Celebrities / Re: Nollywood's Clarion Chukwura Turns Deaconess by Lacoolmley: 9:30am On Nov 08, 2011
Many Nigerian women don't become Deaconesses in the western world either because of the hectic nature of their jobs and family commitments or other reasons. If the western society was designed to give people plenty of spare time, they would definitely have time for other aspects of their lives. The fact that one decides to take his/her spirituality to a higher level doesn't necessarily mean the person is desperate. Many things happen to people which changes their perception of life in general and draws them closer to God. While some may become born again because they have eaten babies, some can also become born again because their babies have been eaten. Abi e no fit happen?
Romance / Re: Is It Okay To Marry Someone From A Different Race? by Lacoolmley: 7:03pm On Oct 03, 2011
@Poster: With time spent, emotion grows. I’m sure while in Nigeria, you felt same way about your girlfriend or someone you really fancied. Life in a foreign land is quite different and you will tend to see her companionship and the intimacy as extra special. Truth is that it is all the same. But in the case of marriage, you have to look at the long term. Love will make her initially agree to moving back home to Africa with you but is that really possible considering the cultural differences, etc. What will happen when she starts talking about spending money on a holiday while you are yet to embark on a project back home? Oyibo love dey off O, e dey get expiry date. I’m sure you truly love her else you won’t be bothered about asking people on Nairaland, but marriage isn’t only about love.
Religion / Re: Tempted To Assist A Family With God's Money (Tithe) by Lacoolmley: 8:51am On Oct 03, 2011
Let A = Poster and B = Brother in need
Let’s assume A is a practicing Christian and earns N1000. Thus tithe = N100 and remainder = N900
If N900 is not even enough for A’s transport to work that simply means he doesn’t have excess cash to give B.
Does it mean that A has only N900 remaining in his account for all the time that he has been working? I guess not. But if so, it means A needs help too.
I think A can help B through other ways like contacting people he knows that can help B get a job; or speak to his pastor who could know some other members that can help; or even sharing food with him (after all, food for one is enough for two)
B can also pull his kids temporarily out of school or put them in a cheaper one.
What I’m trying to say is that tithe is tithe and belongs to God. You cannot tell God how best to use it. Your part is just to bring it. If you think helping your neighbour or brother is by giving him your tithe, then there won’t be any tithe at all as we can never exhaust the number of people we meet daily that need help in our society. So please help the guy from what you have left after paying your tithe or do it in kind.
