the truth is, the brand was not made with illiterates in mind.(people who wont read and follow introductions) when i was about to get my 206 every one around me tried to discourage me and i almost fell for it. my saving grace was that i had made up my mind never to buy a Nigerian used car. what i had with me was 950k and it would not have gotten me any toks car. i eventually settled for a toks 206 and i must say its one of the best decisions i ever made. over a year now. the only thing i changed was an alternator.and oil seal.i have never had to crank her up more than ones and she is crazy fast for her size. my thermostat is intact and i service with only recommended grade of oil.
someone is begging to buy it for 750 but i wont sell. how is that for value?

Did you open your engine for the oil seal repairs?
I once used a Tokunbo Honda 1998 for 2 years and did nothing aside servicing.
My 2007 Yaris over a year and have done nothing on it. It is driven privately by me and drivers for Car hire and often on Uber platform.
Replacing oil seal and alternator in less than a year of usage not too good.

I suggested nozzle to him when he said the above, but he refuted saying nozzle is not the problem that they will only sevice it.

For the frequency in changing of nozzle, do you constantly keep low fuel level overtime, because I was told that is major reason that could cause it. I was adviced of conversion too but never give it a thought, would the conversion to Petrol worth it I love the drive and heaviness of the engine

Yes I am in Lagos but the vehicle broke down in Ibadan.

If your car is CDI the nozzles cant be serviced. They end up damaging the good ones in the process of servicing. This I am very sure of, If your car starts when snuff with petrol most likely bad nozzle.
Dont accept they service a CDI nozzles they are electrical controlled. If they do, they end up damaging all the nozzzles in the process.
Had my car W202 CDI nozzles serviced years back at Iwo Osun State, had to replace the 4 nozzles.

I took the vehicle to workshop for diagnosis and I was told I need to do wire harness and that the front sham (as pronounced to me, whatever that mean) should be replaced. Can these be the problem because he told me the vehicle communicated to scanning for few time and stop responding.

Please can you explain what these mean and its cost implications? Thanks

I am not a mechanic owned a CDI which I intend converting to petrol because of the frequency which I replace nozzles. The above repair you mention is for them to diagnose your car and won't solve the problem. Moreso seems bad nozzles don't give codes they test them individually to identify the bad one's.

Most likely you have one bad nozzle. If you loose another one won't start at all

My 2002 c220 cdi (diesel) is hard starting and will not start unless prime, and when it starts, it stays on for like 30 secs and sometimes not up to that before it goes off again. Please what could be the problem here.

Most likely a faulty pressure switch on the nozzle rail or failing nozzle, very common problem with CDI.
What do you prime with? I know you use an handkerchief soaked in petrol right?

I own a 1999 Mercedes Benz W202 CDI with manual transmission. I have abandoned the car for over a year due to stuck injector nozzle, bad pressure switch on the nozzle rail and heavy black smoke on acceleration and possibly bad turbo charger. The only good hand I know is hardly available and have to wait weeks at times to get minor repair work done.

Presently, I am considering converting to petrol automatic and looking for a good hand for the conversion work. Though I am still skeptical about the conversion work. Second option is to buy a new W202 CDI engine but the frequency at which the nozzles and the pressure switch spoils scares me. I get diesel from only major Total filling station so I wonder why I often have to replaced the nozzles/switch.

Benz gurus @nurey and others please I need suggestion on and a good hand that can help with repair/conversion. The car is in Lagos presently.

Most drivers rely on route provided by google map and might have zero knowledge of the area. It is best if you advice on best route if you have a better knowledge of the road.
At times drivers drive more than 30mins on some terrible roads trying to locate pickup and is kept waiting for a 300naira trip.

Kia and Hyundai product good as well. Just find out the price of the particular engine you intend to buy because some KIA /HYUNDAI engine prices are way too expensive. They I4 engine are good on fuel, Seem the both KIA /HYUNDAI suspension not soo good on our terrible roads in Lagos most especially when they are old.
Driving UBER you get request/dropoff from the worst of roads.

Corolla 2011 very good as well but the initial cost for a clean tokunbo quite expensive. If you intend driving yourself and use for private purpose then it is fine. You get some off UBER request with nice cars but if you giving to a driver not a good idea because they deliver same amount with some driving a Yaris

Most Uber driver are not to conversant with most street so it is better you advise on the best route. Most driver rely on GPS direction or follow major route which might be longer.

Any other car acceptable with engine capacity less than 2.0 litres. But toyota got high resale value in case you want to pull out.
Consider availability and cost of parts as well.
For Uber fuel consumption matters except you drive the car yourself and you don't pay owner weekly.

Expecting some Yaris from Canada in case you interested.
