Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode has described the sealing up of Sun Newspaper headquarters in Apapa, Lagos by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as a shameful act, a travesty of justice and a perversion of decency.

Fani-Kayode, who is a staunch critic of the ruling government in a series of tweets lambasted President Muhammadu Buhari, saying he has again displayed "his utter contempt for human rights, civil liberties and the rule of law."

It could be recalled that the anti-graft agency stormed the headquarter of the newspaper with a seal notice telling those in the building to start packing up as they will come back to seal the building totally.

Human rights activist, Deji Adeyanju, has claimed that he was offered $2m to leave Nigeria and stop disturbing the ruling government.

The management of Sun Publishing Limited has appealed to the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, to stop the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( EFCC) from sealing the company’s corporate headquarters.

The newspaper outfit appealed a statement issued by the management titled: ‘EFCC visit to The Sun office with armed policemen: Our Stand’.

National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole has alleged that the Nigeria Police provided cover for thugs to perpetrate violence that rocked Bénin City on Friday.

According to the former governor, the police watched as thugs gained access to the Bénin Airport with the intention of preventing him from arriving Bénin City to attend a rally of the All Progressives Congress.

Speaking to newsmen at his Bénin City resident, after he was technically placed under house arrest by the Police stopping him from attending the rally where former PDP members were received into the party, Oshimhole stated that he was not under any house arrest.

Former Secretary to the Edo State Government, Osagie Ize-Iyamu has dismissed insinuation that he is defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC) to make trouble.

He stated this during his defection at his house after Police stopped the rally from holding at proposed Garrick Memorial school ground due to security concerns.

Undeterred by the action, the faction loyal to the chairman of the ruling party, Adams Oshiomhole held the rally at the private residence of Pastor Ize-Iyamu. Dignitaries present at the event include APC chieftains loyal to Oshiomhole but Oshiomhole was absent at the rally.

Femi Falana, the leader of the legal team representing the convener of RevolutionNow Protest, Omoyele Sowore, has reacted to the taking over the case of his client by the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami.

According to Falana, who is also a human right lawyer, it is not a take over because it was the AGF that filed the Sowore's case and farmed it out to Dr. Hassan Liman SAN.

He added that Malami taking over the case is in view of the violent invasion of the court by armed operatives of the State Secret Service (SSS). He further explained that the AGF has decided to sack the prosecution team and have the case prosecuted by the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

Former Secretary to Edo State Government, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, who is at the centre of the Edo state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) rally slated for Friday, has confirmed that Governor Godwin Obaseki was aware of the rally as a formal invitation was extended to him.

Seun Anikulapo Kuti, son of afrobeat legend has lambasted immediate past Oyo Governor, Abiola Ajimobi for saying no Oyo administration marched his feat.
The former governor had will clock 70 on December 16, said his strides are in infrastructural development and service delivery.

Ajimobi who made the declaration during a live radio programme in Ibadan recalled that while in office, he made unprecedented achievements in areas of road construction, education, health delivery, peace, and security.

Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the lawyer of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has spoken on what transpired at his residence when Police reportedly ambush the resident in Anambra and burnt down houses and shops around the area.

While noting that he was not around during the incident, he said the alleged attack was led by an Area Commander who requested to see him but was not around.

The Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) has blamed improper electrical wiring and inadequate maintenance of electrical and other equipment as the cause for the electrocution of five inmates on Monday at the Ikoyi Custodial Centre of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS).

According to EEDC, which supplies power to the facility, wires in the affected cell were “left dangling without proper trunking or pinning.”

According to the distribution company,  the deceased inmates were sitting on the floor or leaning on the bunk beds, without clothes or shoes, which could have insulated them from the power surge.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday commended the Federal Ministry of Transportation for convincing the China civil engineering company (CECCC) to construct a university of transportation in his hometown, Daura, Katsina state.

The president, who made the commendation during the groundbreaking ceremony of the newly established institution, said the university would bring rapid development to the nation’s transport sector as well as generate both academic and none academic employment opportunities to Nigerians.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed has said that the decision by the Federal Government to close the country’s land borders has yielded a positive result for the country’s security,

According to Mohammed, the decision has drastically reduced insecurity in the Northwest and it has helped to cut off the supply chains of bandits and other armed groups in the region.

He also noted that Nigeria has experienced a drastic reduction in arm importation, cattle rustling and smuggling of petroleum products among others.

Speaking on Monday at the Nigeria/Niger border post, Magama -Jibia, Katsina State when the Federal Government High Power delegation visited the border Mohammed revealed that the country has also recorded about 30 percent reduction in local consumption of petroleum products as a result of banning supply to border areas.

He further stated that over 50% of the hundreds of petrol stations along the magama Jibia border are owned by foreigners.

Kogi Governor, Yahaya Bello has relieved all his political appointees of their portfolios.

This was revealed in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr Folashade Arike-Ayoade on Monday.

According to the statement, the governor directed all the political office holders to hand over to the most senior civil servant in their respective ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs).

Also exempted is the Head of Service, Auditor-General for state and local government and chairman and members of statutory commissions

“The handing over process must be concluded on Tuesday, 3rd December 2019," part of the statement reads.

According to the statement, copies of the handing over notes should be forwarded to the office of the Secretary to the Government 9SSG) of Kogi State in soft and hard copies.

Information reaching us says the Police have stormed the home of Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the legal representative of the leader of proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

This unconfirmed information was revealed by former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode via his Twitter page who also said four people were killed in the incident.

According to him, the lawyer is still in a mourning mood after burying his brother four days ago.
