nduchucks: I think it is time to declare state of emergency in Aba, send military in, and restore law and order. There is no need to allow criminally minded folks to cause unnecessary loss of the life of a single Nigerian. This criminality must be arrested now before it gets out of hand like BH & other criminal/terrorist operations. What is the difference between what happened in Aba and what happens in US when Police brutally kills unarmed black teenager? Why can't you face your Bokoharam and the ant infested wood Sharia brought to your regions. Bokoharam is killing your people in thousands yet your people voted against emergency rule. Then Security personnels are killing unarmed civilians then you want the same Security personnels to kill more protesters? See your life. |

Go and attack and possibly deal with Malam Sanusi's description of the problems of Nigeria as it relates to each zone and people of Nigeria in support of Waku 1999.
Throwing words around and name calling wouldn't help you.
Back to the topic, the purpose of the meeting was declared by Tompolo and I quote "
[b] Tompolo , in a last minute effort to rally support for the now doomed meeting ,it was aimed at deepening the prevailing peace in the Niger Delta.
Shortly before the meeting was called off yesterday,Tompolo issued a statement in Warri to allay fears that it was s meant to restart war in the region.
He said contrary to the perception in some quarters, the meeting was aimed at deepening the prevailing peace in the area.
He described fears over the meeting as diversionary.
His words: “The tension generated by the meeting is uncalled for, diversionary and mischievous as no evil is intended in whatever form.
“Calling off today’s meeting can also be an option if need be, in order to strengthen our belief in a peaceful Niger Delta.
“I am compelled to clarify issues as they relate to the meeting of the leadership of ex-agitators under the platform of MEND and other organisations summoned at my instance.
“The nation would recall that in the build up to the Amnesty offer of the late president, Alhaji Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, there was hesitance on the part of most of Niger Delta agitators until God in His infinite mercy, granted me wisdom to provide leadership.

By Christopher Isiguzo At least three persons, including a retired Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP, and a corporal, Abu Haruna, Solomon have been arrested for illegal trafficking of arms and ammunition. The third suspect, Onuwa Attaka, is the driver of the arms laden vehicle.
It was gathered that their confession showed alleged involvement in supply of arms to insurgents in Northern Nigeria.
The three suspects, who were heading to the North from Imo State, were intercepted in Nsukka, Enugu State, by officers and men of the Nigerian Army while travelling in a bus.
Items recovered from them include- 40 AK47 magazines, 4 boxes of AK47 live ammunition, 100 pieces of live cartridges, one piece of Denin Mopol khaki and charms concealed in a cap.
One of the army officers who spoke to reporters under anonymity disclosed that a police corporal serving in Imo State Police Command was also involved in the arms running.
He said: "When we asked the occupants of the vehicle to come down, we discovered a police corporal in uniform among them.
The corporal on getting down pretended to be pressed; he later ran away". It was gathered that the suspects were taken to Nsukka Police Division before their transfer to the state CID.
The retired DSP, Abu Haruna, confessed that he had been in the business of arms dealing since he retired from the police.
He said their mission was to supply the ammunition to their buyer in Taraba State. The source said Haruna further confessed that they decided to go on the supply after the buyer complained that the first batch was incomplete.
The Police corporal's identity has been traced to Imo State Police command; his name was simply given as Solomon, even as efforts are still being made to effect his arrest.
Meanwhile, the Nsukka Police Area Commander, ASP. Ros-Amson Haladu has praised the gallantry of the soldiers in combating crimes in the area.
"I want to commend the Army Officers for their vigilance in tracking down these illegal arms dealers.
"At the same time, I warn criminals to leave this vicinity or risk being apprehended by security operatives", he said.

The Abuja Declaration is the name frequently given to the communiqué issued after the Islam in Africa conference held in Abuja, Nigeria between 24 and 28 November 1989. The conference was organised by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (at that time called the Organisation of Islamic Conference and it agreed to set up the Islam in Africa Organisation (IAO).
Declaration The declaration was to the effect that Muslims should unite throughout Africa, the curricula at "various educational establishments" should conform to Muslim ideas, the education of women should be attended to, the teaching of Arabic should be encouraged, and Muslims should support economic relations with Islamic areas worldwide. It noted that Muslims in Africa had been deprived of rights to be governed under sharia law and they should strengthen their struggle to reinstate it. The Islam in Africa Organisation (nl) was formally established in July 1991, also in Abuja and it has stated its objectives. |

Nigeria’s top 10 federal revenue receiving states Posted by: Lekan in News, News Update June 1, 2014
Finance Minister, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has listed Nigeria’s 10 highest revenue receiving states based on the federal allocations in 2013. The states, according to her, earn more than the annual budgets of some neighboring countries.
The allocations are as follows: Akwa Ibom N260 billion, Rivers N230 billion, Delta State N209 billion, Bayelsa N173 billion, Lagos N168 billion, Kano N140 billion, Katsina N103 billion, Oyo N100 billion, Kaduna N 97 billion Borno N94 billion.
Okonjo-Iweala gave the breakdown of the allocations on Sunday at Babcock University’s 12th Convocation at which she delivered a lecture with the theme: ‘Transforming Nigeria economy: Opportunities and Challenges’
“These were the allocations that all these states got last year, so the question is what did they do with it? Analysis shows that many Nigerian states receive revenue allocation which are larger than budgetary allocation of neighbouring countries such as Liberia which is $ 433 million, Gambia $210 million.
