This is what I have been saying countless times on this thread. Be who you are. Use your country's flag. Now you are hooked. Freelancer will verify your data thoroughly before you can make withdrawals and if they detect you are using a fake flag, your account may be suspended. My advice is, edit your data to your real address. I don't know if that will be easy to do, because they lock addresses now (at least mine is locked) and if you want to change it, you will need to contact the support desk to show evidences that the address is yours. May God help you!

You will need a domiciliary account to be able to withdraw to your GTB bank acct. You cannot withdraw to your mastercard. Sign up for a payoneer card instead.

Godmother, check the address you gave them and make sure it is functional. You can also contact them to find out what is going on. When you want to transfer your fund, click on FINANCES, then WITHDRAW money, then click on FREELANCER DEBIT CARD. Then you will be prompted to supply your card number which is written on the payoneer card. That is all!

And I must admit that I am a bit confused about project pricing.I'm about to bid on a project that the employer is awarding at 250 -750 and all in the project description is articles. How many? how long? So, how really can i fix a price when i do not have the specifications? I see this is the norm on freelancer. somebody pls enlighten me.

You have to write some exams to be able to bid on some projects. You can just put it 250. The employer will discuss with you on how many articles is required and at what rate. Watch out for the prices fixed by other freelancers and place yours in-between the range.

You cannot use the buyer request feature until you have 90% positive review.

madam lady writer...i was given 5 articles to write at the rate of 2dollars per article. it was given to me by a young lady. i suspected that she collected it and it was too much for her, so she now gave some to me. when she gave me, i told her to set milestone and she set a milestone of 4dollars. ive submitted or the articles to her because she said she wanted to check for plagiarism. She has collected it. though she complained of plagiarism and i dont even know if its true. Now she has not even released the 4 dollar milestone not to talk of paying me the ten dollars. i chatted with her and she said until when her client approves the article that i should give her like two days that she will pay. i said i will open dispute but she said i should not worry that she will pay me and give me review. Im just confused. What do you think that i should do.though its my first project.

Don't worry, she will pay. Keep bidding on other jobs and don't let it weigh you down. Don't go to dispute until after 3 or 4 days. Dispute is not always the best way to resolve a problem with your employer. Talk to them and settle things first, if it goes out of hand, then you can resolve to using it. It should be the last resort. It has a way of denting one's profile.

I wonder how ladywriter carves out time to run this thread 'cos when you start with Freelancer, and you are serious about beating deadlines, you will not have time to even sleep.

Maybe it will change when I become more experienced but right now, I have to pay the sacrifice to build up my reputation.

I haven't slept more than a total of 9 hours in the last two days.

This is SERIOUS WORK.

You don't have to overwork yourself. Give the employer deadlines you can meet comfortably. That's what I do. Otherwise, you will have no time for yourself.

Payoneer will send a notification mail to you to let you know when to expect your card. You don't need to link it with your ATM card. They will send a mastercard to you that you can use to withdraw your earnings on any ATM mastercard enabled machine in Nigeria. All you need to do when you want to withdraw is to supply Freelancer with your card number and that is all. Read this thread very well, especially the sample proposal/bid on page 84 or 85, it will help you to know how to write your proposal. All the best!

Hmmm! I can't say. The verification process was not there when I opened my account. Though, I later verified with my Payoneer card since I use it mostly for withdrawals.

(it is still low at $2, but you can sharpen your skill with it) If he cannot, you are sorry, the rate is too low for you to continue. You will get better jobs now, since you have positive reviews. You will make more with e-books. I write 5,000-10,000 words e-book for like $100-300 depending on the topic . If you are good at it, you will earn more. Congrats once again!

To the OP. First, I want to commend you for having the zeal and courage, to share how you make money on the Internet and highlighting the needed tools and techniques on achieving that.
But, I want to advice you a little, if that is ok with you.
From my own perspective, I think you made a little error with the title you chose for this topic. For me, you should have removed the "car part". You might not agree with me, but looking at it critically, you will come to realise that, we Nigerians are highly sentimental and sometimes judgmental.
The topic heading should have been something like, " how I make money on etc" or "how to be self employed, writing articles on etc". You can see from my little ideas, how attention is not directed to a car, house or other material possession, but focuses more on how to help others become independent and hopefully, become entrepreneurs.
All In all, I hope my contribution is not misunderstood, but just to contribute my own little idea. Stay blessed and may Almighty God guide you, as you help others.

I have a question for you: Let's assume an employer absconded somehow, even after creating a milestone. How can a worker obtain that money? Or will it hang forever there since it is in FL's keep?

No way! You go to dispute straight. What I do is to I tell them " This employer forgot to release the milestone after receiving the project". That is all. Then you wait for about 7 days or so. If the employer did not reply to your comment, FL will release the fund to your account after 7 days.

You are meant to submit a bid proposal for any bid you place. I suggest you stop bidding, and go through ALL the posts on ALL the pages of this thread before you continue.

PS: @ladywriter I think a lot of newbies are getting the wrong impression that this is a get-rich-quick thing. Please drum it into their ears that freelancing is HARDWORK. That is why it is advisable for one to go only into areas where they are highly skilled. This is because most of the time, the only thing that keeps one going is PASSION for the skill.

Yes some can start today and land a major project the next day but, it is not the norm. We should all see this more as a business than a hobby. If we treat this as a business, then we would take things a little at a time initially, and build on the experience, just like any other offline business. The same tenets that guide offline businesses are also applicable with the online versions.

Kindly and STRONGLY encourage all to soak up all the info here even before opening their FL or FV accounts. A lot are in a hurry. Shalom.

Thank you for this piece. Freelancer is hard work. You have to bid continuously to win projects and when you win projects, you have to do the work before you can be paid. It takes time to breakthrough. I have been working on FL for the past 4 years, through thick and thin. God kept me going. Its been a lot of hard work, dedication and commitment. If you are a newbie here, please take your time to read from the first page to the end, you will learn from our experiences (both good and bad) and that will help you greatly as you embark on the journey. Take it step by step and day by day. You cannot get rich quickly with FL. At least I have not seen someone who made it that fast. It takes time and you must be ready to learn all the way. At the end your hardwork will pay off.

I got awarded a project and when I signed on to accept it, discovered over 30 of us were awarded the same project. About seven people have accepted the projected with a lot still reading "awaiting acceptance". Should I go ahead and accept? Its a large project of $@500 and I dont want freelancer to minus $250 from my account for a project that might be fake. I just paid for two projects I ended up not doing and dont want to make the same mistake again

Contact the employer and tell thank him for giving you the project. Tell him to please set the milestone of at least $300 or $500 and you will accept the project. If he refused to set the milestone, decline the project.

How to write a winning bid

There are thousands of freelancers competing for jobs and a couple bidding on the same job. How do you stand out from the rest and win the project? There is no basic formula for writing bids because each project is different from one another. However, the proposal written by one of my guy in my first thread will help to distinguish your bid from several others.

First, there are 3 questions every seller tries to answer - Why, How, and What.

Research has shown that people buy things based on emotions. The part of the brain linked to purchase decisions is linked to your emotions. What this means is that no matter how perfect your sales pitch is, you may not sell because you haven't reached a clients emotion.

This is worst on freelancer and fiverr (buyers request). There are several hundreds of people bidding.

Back to Why, How, and What. Most sellers go for what and how, and leave the why. You may get tangible results online but it will be difficult selling offline. An example -

Hello freelancers, I want my website content re written to pass CopyScape.

"Hi, I am a writer with several years of experience in a variety of niches. I am very meticulous, creative, and passionate about my job. I will write 100% error-free, SEO, and CopyScape-passed articles,
Hire me."

Notice that while my bid sounds professional, it only states what I do. There is no why (a little why) or how. The truth is that this is what a lot of bids look like. The next option is for the client to choose based on reviews. So let's rewrite our bid.

"Hello, I know what it feels like having CopyScape flag your contents down. I also know how quality content can transform your website and even ranking on Google. I am passionate about writing and this is what makes the difference. I am a meticulous writer with ample years of experience. My clients are my priority and this is why I research in detail before writing my articles.

I look forward to working with you. Kindly contact me for more details."

Notice that I first tried to connect (Why)
Next I said something about research (How)
And finally What.

That is the correct order on how to sell anything to anyone.

No, it is very important. It should contain samples of your work. You can write 200 words articles (abt 2 or 3) and put it there. Employers sometimes check it to determine your eligibility.

Yes, there are lots of skills there. I don't know how much freelancers charge for a logo, but you can determine it. When you bid on a project, watch the project fee of other bidders and place yours in between. e.g. if others are bidding between 50-100, places yours around 60 0r 70.
