PoliticsOpen Letter To Segalink On Calling Peter Obi's Supporters IPOB by Lagaritha(op): 6:53pm On Jun 17, 2022
https://theconductsoflife.com/an-open-letter-to-distinguished-segun-awosanya-segalink-on-slapping-the-ipob-tag-on-peter-obis-supporters/

Dear Distinguished, this open letter is not an attack on your person or where you pitch, but displeasure for slapping the IPOB tag on Peter Obi’s supporters. It is inspired by your tweets in recent times as regards the 2023 presidential election and the activities that have been unfolding.

It is good to declare ahead of time that I am not a fan of Igbo presidency at this time. The country is so messed up that an Igbo President would find it difficult gauging by the national mood, especially bothering on insecurity and the antecedents of the North and their opinion of the Igbo person.

I will not delve into IPOB or what they stand for, nor is this post about how they were proscribed in Nigeria. But the truth is that the acronym ‘IPOB’ does not resonate well with the majority of the Nigerian populace and can only be employed by someone who is trying to stir up ethnic sentiments against the Igbos.

That out of the way.

You have made a few tweets about the supporters of a particular presidential aspirant, PO, calling them extremists after which you organized a Space on Twitter which somehow gave clearance to some misconceptions of some Twitter users while raising fresh concerns in others.

Some say you are aggrieved because a certain presidential aspirant did not recognize or consult you. I don’t want to dwell on that.

Dear Distinguished, let me do a little summary of the situation of Nigeria and the youth.

Nigeria as we know it has been in tatters and on a downward trajectory for as long as we can reflect. But things got worse after 2015 and you can see where we are right now.

Nigeria is a mess – health, security, education, economy. Everything is in disarray and the pang of hunger elicits a lot, including anger and insults, which do not have an ethnic peculiarity.

The citizens have cried, yearned, and continue to do so for a better progressive government that can bring positive change, which you Distinguished joined and have been on the frontline; doing your bit, especially in the area of Police brutality against the youth.

Distinguished, you were like a god to the youth who were at the receiving end of the Police brutality and they couldn’t hide their love for you. You were seen as different, practical, and someone of class who leaned over to give a hand to the trenchers.

Distinguished, I don’t want to talk about what happened during ‘ENDSARS’, because I might not have all the facts. This Open Letter is hinged on your current antecedents on the increasing support for this particular aspirant and your use of some inappropriate words that can only whip up bad blood and more confusion that would anchor on ethnicity. This is a very bad precedent.

Maybe that is what your goals are as the subtle tweets have become more of a deliberate and calculated attack, increasing in momentum right from the time the aspirant resigned from his former party. It is surprising coming from a person who has been a symbol of hope and succour to the youth.

I personally have seen your positive tweets about another aspirant who lost out recently in his party’s presidential primaries – Moghalu. Moghalu is not very different from PO, whom you have started casting aspersions on, including his supporters.

Your opinion about Moghalu shows you are inclined toward competence and class which PO also represents, so the attack is not understandable.

What is more baffling is the hidden but noticeable disdain for the loud support of the youth for PO, to the extent of tagging them extremists and IPOB. It is pertinent to point out that his supporters cut across all ethnicities in Nigeria.

You have seen South-West, South-South, North-Central, South-East, North-East, and North-West supporters rooting for him.

How is PO going to control the unexpected surge in love and support across Nigeria? He can only appeal to them not to insult while showing support. Besides, they have been average in their going about it.

THE IPOB TAG
Distinguished, your tweets of extremism and agitation are out of place. Here is a tweet you made, calling PO’s supporters extremists and IPOB.

Extremism has to do with militancy, fanaticism, radicalism, sectarianism, chauvinism, etc. These we have not seen with the all-around supporters.

Distinguished, this is appalling, it is propaganda, this is not progressive. This is not your trademark. In fact, this is stirring the hornets’ nest and igniting a fire. It’s so bad it’s coming from you, smuggling in the ethnic card by squeezing IPOB in the narrative from behind.

They have not fought, killed, or engaged in any vices in the course of their support engagements, only rants, and the usual youthful exuberance; so the ‘extremism and agitation’ tag is unnecessary.

I had tweeted about some Influencers working their way around tagging PO’s supporters IPOB and never would I have thought you are at the frontline.

Distinguished, those tweets of yours reveal two things:

You have a bruised ego, probably because you were not reached and so feeling sidelined as people speculate or
You are deliberately whipping up the familiar ethnic bashing in favour of some people, which is the seemingly sure route to cause confusion in the absence of tangible malfeasance to tag PO with.
Distinguished, you have not openly declared your support for any of the four major presidential aspirants, but it is believed you are laying the foundation by working around ethnic emotions, using IPOB which is closest to ‘Igbo bashing’ as an excuse to declare your support for whoever, which is your right anyways.

As a seemingly clean person of repute, one would think you would support an aspirant of less garbage, a person who has shown competence and a long track of excellent management abilities, and contempt for waste; than aspirants who have been complicit in the suffering of Nigerians.

But that is your right and left for you to support whoever you want.

The core of this Open Letter is to join all the well-meaning voices to call you out for using the ‘IPOB’ tag for PO’s supporters. It portrays you as an enemy of the people and a merchant of confusion and hatred.

If not, why the IPOB tag? Yes! His supporters are more of Igbos which is very much understandable. Every aspirant would have more support from his ethnicity, especially when such an aspirant is clean. But his supporters defy ethnicity just as described somewhere above.

PO’s supporters have not done anywhere close to the vile attack Goodluck Jonathan received both from the West and North, including from his own people. So, your attack is not necessary. This is why people think influencers are paid because they go against what they are known for suddenly, for whatever reasons.

Distinguished, I am appealing to you in the public not to do the familiar ethnic bashing. It’s not what is needed at this point when there is volatile apprehension and rancour. You should use your platform and influence to guide the youths like you use to and not divide or cause confusion.

If you have a candidate, project, market, and present him no matter how bad he is. Sell him to the populace as it is your right.

Like I said earlier, this post is not an attack on your person, it is an expression of a disturbing observation.

PoliticsGinger Onwusibe Declares For House Of Reps, Promises Quality Representation by Lagaritha(op): 6:05am On Apr 01, 2022
https://theconductsoflife.com/ginger-onwusibe-declares-for-house-of-reps-promises-quality-representation/#more-2387

Ginger Onwusibe declares for House of Reps for Isiala Ngwa North/South Federal Constituency. An astute politician of Ngwa extraction, Abia State, the political strategist and seemingly the most loved politician in Abia State who has diligently climbed the political ladder right from the grassroots has expectedly declared to represent his people of Isiala Ngwa North and South Federal Constituency at the Green Chamber.

Ginger has performed exceedingly well in every capacity he found himself and has etched a name for himself in the political chronicles of Abia State and is about to replicate that at the Federal level. There is not doubt he would exceed the expectations of his constituents who so much believe in him.

One outstanding attribute of Hon. Ginger is that he carries everybody along. He is a confirmed grassroots politician who does not discriminate or exclude even his enemies in the scheme of things. He is a unifier, a path finder, a towering Iroko who has given shelter and abode to all and sundry.

Timeline of Ginger’s political capacities
Ginger Onwusibe started his political career in 1999 as a Councilor during Orji Uzor Kalu’s regime. He represented his ward (Amapu Ntigha) at Isiala Ngwa North Local Government. A post he held till 2002. During this time, he became the Leader of the Legislative Arm of the Council and also the Chairman of the Abia State Councilors Forum, the umbrella body of the 184 elected Councilors in Abia State then.

He was appointed the Transition Committee (TC) Chairman of ISNLG and served well for the two different periods of the tenure of T.A. Orji. It was at this time he made a huge mark that endeared him to his people. He executed many projects in all the areas that fell under the LGA. He also served his Local Government as the Executive elected Chairman from 2016 to 2018.

He was elected in 2019 to represent the people of Isiala Ngwa North at the Abia State House of Assembly which he holds presently and has represented well. All his achievements has given him a hitch free opening to go further for his people and represent them in the Green Chamber.

His experience garnered through the years has earned him this great opportunity. His people are confident he will not fail them. ISNLG has 3 constituent political blocs – Ngwaukwu la Nwaoha, Ntigha and Nsulu.

People of his constituent have no regrets in sending him to Abuja therefore, to do what he knows best how to do and make them proud.

Declaration speech
Ndi Isiala Ngwa murum,

I am Ginger Obinna Onwusibe, a law-abiding Nigerian citizen from Ntigha in Isialangwa LGA of Abia state. From 1999 to 2002, I represented Ward 5 (Amapu Ntigha) as elected Councillor at Isialangwa North Local Government (ISNLG) Council during which time I became the Leader of the Legislative Arm of the Council and also the Chairman of the Abia State Councillors Forum, the umbrella body of the 184 elected Councillors in Abia state then.

In 2010/2011 and 2014/2015, I was appointed Transition Committee (TC) Chairman of ISNLG and I creditably served the good people of ISNLG in this position and for the two different periods of time, making huge political marks, politically and otherwise. Also, I served ISNLG people as executive (elected) Chairman from 2016–2018.

In 2019, the good people of ISNLG gave me their mandate to represent them at ABHA. My numerous landmark achievements lend credence to the fact that I represented the great people of ISNLG beyond legislation at ABHA. There is no point therefore, to highlight the wealth of experience I have gathered from the steady ascent of the rungs of the political ladder from Councillor, Leader of LG Council and Chairman of Abia State Councillors Forum through LG Chairman, 3 times in two different modes, to Member, ABHA.

Again, ISNLG has 3 unequal constituent political blocs namely Ngwaukwu la Nwaoha, Ntigha and Nsulu. The sharing of the common political heritage and fortunes of ISNLG is usually done in consideration of this tripod political structure of the Local Government. This consideration has been employed, before now, in the rotation of Executive Chairman seat and the ABHA seat. The records are there.

It is on record that Nsulu represented the people of Isialangwa at the Federal House of Representatives (FHR) 1999–2003, Ngwaukwu la Nwaoha also represented Isialangwa people at the FHR 2007–2015, a period of 8years. The only political bloc in ISNLG that is yet to represent Isialangwa people at FHR is Ntigha, my clan.

Recall that FHR seat is jointly owned and shared by Isialangwa North Local Government ISNLG and Isialangwa South Local Government ISSLG. Our representative at FHR 2003–2007 was from ISSLG. Also, the FHR representative from 2015–date is from ISSLG.

In 2023, the FHR seat will come to ISNLG and the only clan in ISNLG that has not produced a representative at FHR is Ntigha, my clan.

Consequent upon the foregoing, and after duly consulting with the Lord God Almighty who is my source of inspiration, my family and my constituents who have supported me all these years, I have humbly offered myself to represent the wonderful people of ISNLG and ISSLG at the Green Chambers come 2023.

I so declare. To give more flesh to this declaration, I have procured the Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms accordingly. I request your prayers and support.

Expect More my people.

THANK YOU.

Foreign AffairsTo Settle The Ukraine Crisis, Start At The End – Henry Kissinger by Lagaritha(op): 7:40am On Mar 01, 2022
https://theconductsoflife.com/to-settle-the-ukraine-crisis-start-at-the-end-henry-kissinger/

Henry Kissinger is an American political scientist, who, as adviser for national security affairs and as secretary of state, was a major influence in the shaping of U.S. foreign policy from 1969 to 1976 under Presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford.

Public discussion on Ukraine is all about confrontation. But do we know where we are going? In my life, I have seen four wars begun with great enthusiasm and public support, all of which we did not know how to end and from three of which we withdrew unilaterally. The test of policy is how it ends, not how it begins.

Far too often the Ukrainian issue is posed as a showdown: whether Ukraine joins the East or the West. But if Ukraine is to survive and thrive, it must not be either side’s outpost against the other — it should function as a bridge between them.

Russia must accept that to try to force Ukraine into a satellite status, and thereby move Russia’s borders again, would doom Moscow to repeat its history of self-fulfilling cycles of reciprocal pressures with Europe and the United States.

The West must understand that, to Russia, Ukraine can never be just a foreign country. Russian history began in what was called Kievan-Rus. The Russian religion spread from there. Ukraine has been part of Russia for centuries, and their histories were intertwined before then. Some of the most important battles for Russian freedom, starting with the Battle of Poltava in 1709 , were fought on Ukrainian soil. The Black Sea Fleet — Russia’s means of projecting power in the Mediterranean — is based by long-term lease in Sevastopol, in Crimea. Even such famed dissidents as Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn and Joseph Brodsky insisted that Ukraine was an integral part of Russian history and, indeed, of Russia.

The European Union must recognize that its bureaucratic dilatoriness and subordination of the strategic element to domestic politics in negotiating Ukraine’s relationship to Europe contributed to turning a negotiation into a crisis. Foreign policy is the art of establishing priorities.

The Ukrainians are the decisive element. They live in a country with a complex history and a polyglot composition. The Western part was incorporated into the Soviet Union in 1939 , when Stalin and Hitler divided up the spoils. Crimea, 60 percent of whose population is Russian , became part of Ukraine only in 1954 , when Nikita Khrushchev, a Ukrainian by birth, awarded it as part of the 300th-year celebration of a Russian agreement with the Cossacks. The west is largely Catholic; the east largely Russian Orthodox. The west speaks Ukrainian; the east speaks mostly Russian. Any attempt by one wing of Ukraine to dominate the other — as has been the pattern — would lead eventually to civil war or break up. To treat Ukraine as part of an East-West confrontation would scuttle for decades any prospect to bring Russia and the West — especially Russia and Europe — into a cooperative international system.

Ukraine has been independent for only 23 years; it had previously been under some kind of foreign rule since the 14th century. Not surprisingly, its leaders have not learned the art of compromise, even less of historical perspective. The politics of post-independence Ukraine clearly demonstrates that the root of the problem lies in efforts by Ukrainian politicians to impose their will on recalcitrant parts of the country, first by one faction, then by the other. That is the essence of the conflict between Viktor Yanukovych and his principal political rival, Yulia Tymoshenko. They represent the two wings of Ukraine and have not been willing to share power. A wise U.S. policy toward Ukraine would seek a way for the two parts of the country to cooperate with each other. We should seek reconciliation, not the domination of a faction.

Russia and the West, and least of all the various factions in Ukraine, have not acted on this principle. Each has made the situation worse. Russia would not be able to impose a military solution without isolating itself at a time when many of its borders are already precarious. For the West, the demonization of Vladimir Putin is not a policy; it is an alibi for the absence of one.

Putin should come to realize that, whatever his grievances, a policy of military impositions would produce another Cold War. For its part, the United States needs to avoid treating Russia as an aberrant to be patiently taught rules of conduct established by Washington. Putin is a serious strategist — on the premises of Russian history. Understanding U.S. values and psychology are not his strong suits. Nor has understanding Russian history and psychology been a strong point of U.S. policymakers.

Leaders of all sides should return to examining outcomes, not compete in posturing. Here is my notion of an outcome compatible with the values and security interests of all sides:

1. Ukraine should have the right to choose freely its economic and political associations, including with Europe.

2. Ukraine should not join NATO, a position I took seven years ago, when it last came up.

3. Ukraine should be free to create any government compatible with the expressed will of its people. Wise Ukrainian leaders would then opt for a policy of reconciliation between the various parts of their country. Internationally, they should pursue a posture comparable to that of Finland. That nation leaves no doubt about its fierce independence and cooperates with the West in most fields but carefully avoids institutional hostility toward Russia.

4. It is incompatible with the rules of the existing world order for Russia to annex Crimea. But it should be possible to put Crimea’s relationship to Ukraine on a less fraught basis. To that end, Russia would recognize Ukraine’s sovereignty over Crimea. Ukraine should reinforce Crimea’s autonomy in elections held in the presence of international observers. The process would include removing any ambiguities about the status of the Black Sea Fleet at Sevastopol.

These are principles, not prescriptions. People familiar with the region will know that not all of them will be palatable to all parties. The test is not absolute satisfaction but balanced dissatisfaction. If some solution based on these or comparable elements is not achieved, the drift toward confrontation will accelerate. The time for that will come soon enough.

This is really bad.

But I still doubt the effectiveness of some of these testing kits
Majority of the testing kits being used ar faulty and always return every result as positive meanwhile the person is negative.
In Tanzania covid19 tested that was run on pawpaw and goats returned as positive.

Even the case of Anambra man was a perfect example, he insisted that he has no covid19 and later it was proven to be true.
You are very correct. Before these testing kits came, some European countries raised the alarm of infected testing kits. Most of the kits were infected already. In fact some doctors said the kits infected people. People argue it's premeditated to infect people. Sadly, our people at the helm are asslickers without independent minds. CareerThe Nigerian Youth And His Future by Lagaritha(op): 9:30am On Feb 05, 2017
My spirit goes with this little article of mine. Go waken the slumbered, go strengthen the weak, encourage the disheartened, to the lone dreamer. Speak! Yes, kindle within him a mighty desire, with dauntless ambition. Set his spirit on fire!

The socio-economic imperatives of the Nigerian economy of today are systematically drifting in favor to the growth of small and medium scale business. Among the reasons for this trend is the sudden nose-diving of the economy. For a long time, government had taken centre stage hoping to carefully and centrally plan the economy. At the core of this approach is the presumption that it is better to centrally manage the scarce resources than to manage it in fragments. In so doing government hopes to redistribute income, reduce unemployment, provide infrastructure and facilitate the growth of Gross National Product (GNP). Unfortunately, after a period of four decades, they are several miles behind the initial expectations. At the last count, our public corporations have turned out to be a conduit pipe to entrench mediocrity, inefficiency and enrichment of few at the expense of the struggling masses. Riding on the strength of monopoly coupled with its legal immunity, they have given and continue to give sub-optimal and epileptic services at high rate. In some cases of petroleum products, the products are not even readily available. It is against this backdrop that successive governments have taken a major rethink to this public sector domination of the economy.

The key challenges facing potential entrepreneurs are the promotion of awareness of various career options and possibilities for business set-up. There are many idle people in Nigeria. People in this category largely require awareness and understanding of what enterprise is and what it takes to own and manage a business so that they can consider self-employment realistically as a career option.

If you look around properly you would observe that people have been forced to engage in vocations they wouldn’t have opted for normally. The condition in the country is a blessing for some people and a source of turmoil for others. Keke is a very lucrative business right now. Most people who saved money to get keke and have seen how good the business is cannot leave the business for a white collar job that can’t pay up to N100,000 monthly.

The Nigerian youth have always been told that going to school will definitely bring wealth and good life subsequently. That’s okay, but the trend has changed long ago. If you studied and don’t have a skill to back it up, you might end up searching for job the rest of your life.

Now let’s break it down. At six years old, the Nigerian child is already gearing to be in Primary School and at 12 he is in Secondary School to study, make good grade and have the dream of going to the University. The parents have no intention of introducing the child to skill acquisition. The societal trend has always been school, school, school. This child would round up with Secondary School at 18 years without a skill that he can fall back on. Remember at this age, he has got energy and this is the best time to harness his abilities and make him useful to the society. But, instead, most youths in this age in Nigeria are idle, depending on the parents for food, clothing and other needs. This is wrong. Assuming this child had learned a skill from the age 12 while going to school too, he would have been making money at least to cater for his own personal needs, and then aspiring for more.

If he is lucky to be in the University at age 19, he continues to depend on the parents until he is done with studies probably at age 24, still never got a skill. He continues to be a liability until he gets a job. It’s only a small fraction of Nigerians that get jobs after education. Majority roam the streets without skills and that is the reason vices are in the increase.

To parents, make sure your children acquire skills as they grow, so when they are adults they can convert those skills to money. They can go to school while getting a skill. That is the way to go this time if you want your child to be useful in time in the future. School alone is silently failing us and nobody is talking about it. Entrepreneur is the bedrock of every successful economy. Provide job for yourself and others. It’s painstaking, it’s worth it, it’s sexy, it’s the way forward.
