deebaby05: Dears, please this landlord letter is giving me concern. Didn't discover this thread till after application submission. My hubby is sharing a 4 bed with a friend and his landlord who happens to be his uncle is in the hospital so we couldnt get a letter from him. Apart from this, aĺl other requirements are good. Moreso, its in the plan to get a 3bedroom outside london once we relocate. Please what do you suggest we do? Kids are involved.biometrics was on 31st August. Is it still possible to send a doc or letter to Sheffield using either hubby lawyer, hubby himself or landlord if that will possible or the flatmate. Thanks My wife only used the Agreement document and a letter from the landlord as there are no receipts. I was even the one that handed the landlord the 900pounds for May. We used the letter because there are no receipt as the Landlord doesn't want the council to know the actual amount because of one tax or the other. I think someone suggested what they did in a shared apartment. Ours is two bedroom. |

foxyvisa: @Justwise and house At the end of the application forms, there's "Additional information ". Please what do I fill, as I have no child. Trying to wrap my head around the additional information Write anything that you need them to consider as per your application or whatever you need to explain in a nutshell (I believe you would have mentioned all that in your letter.) But if you don't have anything to say, then leave it. It's just an opportunity to explain anything that need explanation especially child related for exceptional circumstances. |

foxyvisa: Hubby is Nigerian but had no plans of coming into the country, at least not until i join him. If we go the route of remarriage, that will be extra cost (ticket etc). Then we will fall under application immediately after marriage and I feel eyebrows will be raised. Decided to go through with the application, everything is intact. We look unto God for favour. All is well. |

ronvlaar: U guys are scaring me o, we used RCCG certificate obtained via the local govt for our wedding.. God is in charge Nobody is saying it will affect your application. We are only saying the obvious as per Nigerian Law Court rulings recently. This happened in May 2017 and as I read in the ruling, the Judge instructed that the certificates should be returned to the Local Govts in exchange for the Federal Marriage Registry Form E backed by the constitution. We can only ascertain the situation from anyone who used one and got their Visa approved. |

justwise: That's slightly different case as your contribution will help your sponsor meet the financial requirement, outside that I don't see the need if the sponsor meets the financial requirement. This is where I talk about different circumstances to various applicants. In my case I included my bank accounts to support the application since I don't see it changing anything as my wife had to reduce her hours despite earning enough and it reflected in her P60. We had to explain in the other information. |

justwise: Its good that you raised this issue because i also wanted to find out if British embassy rejects marriage certificate issued by local govt.
@lamakinde can you explain that? @Justwise, there is a court ruling around July/August in Nigeria that nullifies Local Government Marriage certificates. I will try to check any link related to that. |

justwise: The applicant doesn't need to add his or her own bank statement or letter from employer, the sponsor needs to submit all that.
Tenancy agreement is enough you don't need to add receipt of rent payment.
If you are renting 1 or two bedroom flat you don't need a letter from your landlord allowing your wife or husband to live with you, show me where that is mentioned as a requirement. You only need a letter from landlord in the case of multiple occupation accommodation I concur. Thanks. |

Bond140: Thank you @justwise for the response but unfortunately I can not sit for the correct test because without my passport which I submitted with the application I cannot write the test. The only option is the UK NARIC. To get transcript is a problem because schools only forward the transcripts to schools not individuals and I need the transcripts for upload on the UK Naric site for them to process it. I just don't know what to do now whether to apply with statement of results only? Apart from your transcript, UK NARIC will also ask for letter of proficiency in English from your school Registrar's office. Remember to click on option of Visas and Nationality on their site. |

Phoenix77: Hi @Aphrodite007... pls I don't know if you or any nairalander that has submitted their application for a settlement visa can be kind enough to walk me through mine... all these lawyers out there are as good making a donation to charity if you go through them. I will really appreciate it. Thanks Remember to chose settlement - Husband or Wife Actually we all learnt through reading up because of different circumstances relating to each applicant. For starters as the applicant, you will need your sponsor to be earning £18600/annum if you are without child or if your child is a British citizen. With a child it increases to £22,400 and additional £2400 for subsequent child. Docs from Sponsor and needed by Applicant P60 of that year Six months account statement Payslips Letter from the employer on letter head signed stating the year of employment, Remuneration Utility bills e.g.Council tax, energy Letter from Landlord/Receipts of payment stating he/she is domiciled at the residence and permitted to live with the spouse. Communication Proof (Phone records from service provider , WhatsApp conversations, Facebook chats, IMO e.t.c. Original Marriage certificate (Not Nigerian local govt) Federal Marriage Registry or UK recognised. English language Proficiency (Either IELTS life skills A or if you have a UK degree or You can process a UK NARIC assessment of your Nigerian Degree taught in English) Original Tuberculosis Test (You can do this at IOM i.e. International Organisation for Migration) Lots of pictures at every meeting point, marriage pictures etc. Copies of visas stamp for all travelling to meet. Letter from Applicants employer if employed Bank statement( just to show you have a life) All docs is original. Lest I forget, docs from self employed sponsor differs a little. |

Aphrodite007: Hi Lamakinde, I was honestly hoping for a smooth ride with my application after reading up everything under this topic from the very first page but I still have a lot of questions. One of them concerns the IHS.
Now I got my masters in the UK so I’m quite familiar with the IHS, however after filling my form on the IGS page, I was prompted to pay $2603 which is just ridiculous! Worse still, it’s not letting me undo/redo just incase I might have picked a wrong option somewhere. Kindly advise on how I can undo this or start a new application (it’s not even letting me do this!).
Also if you can answer in the name that I am meant to use for my application. I’m a lady, I got married recently, he is a British citizen. My passport and documents carry my maiden name, should I just continue with it or use my marriage name (I have the newspaper publication to prove my change of name).
Please I really need help!
Oh and thanks to the ever so kind people that keep this group going, God bless all of you immensely for all your advice. I believe you should use the name on your passport and documents, though you could include the publication showing a change of name which you are yet to effect on your passport. Is it your IHS that summed up to $2603 or your visa fees? I can remember someone paying $600 plus for IHS when she did hers before mine on this forum and I ended up been charged $816, I don't know their criteria for how much they charge. When you fill your forms online, you can leave one with errors if you are yet to pay your visa fees, it will clear off your page in like three months or so and won't get to UKVI. I abandoned the one of Settlement - Marriage because it didn't give me the option to pay for IHS then. |

Thanks Alternatively, if your hubby has a B.Sc. taught in English he can verify through UK NARIC to stand in for the IELTS life skills A. |

GodandVal: You know when applying for settlement/spousal visa, you are to select the sub category,I selected marriage but the lawyer said it was wife I was supposed to select.
I paid over 2000 dollars and the the documents were those required for spousal visa.... his utility bill etc pictures of us, tuberculosis test, appendix 2 etc I had this issue while filling my application online so I left that one to fill another one. I did settlement - marriage initially then later did another one of settlement - husband as the right one because the first one didn't take me to IHS payment which I learnt was needed. I paid $1918 while IHS was $816. |

I was denied entry for not providing a Birth Certificate according to ECO, after I submitted NPC birth attestation, so I need to find out from them whether that document was omitted, before applying for A.R Use their complaints platform, though it takes up till a week before they reply. I used it once and got a reply after I have sorted it out myself. |

tayeby78: It has not changed on the tls tracker but we received this email on Sept 7th. Did you get the same email as well?
Your online application has been received at the UK Decision Making Centre. Your application is currently being prepared for consideration by an Entry Clearance Officer.
If you have made a Settlement application (except for applications lodged in USA and Canada): you must ensure that your UK sponsor has sent all relevant supporting documentation to the UK Decision Making Centre in Sheffield. The documents should be arranged in this order: application form and relevant Appendix* (See below); English language evidence; relationship documents; maintenance documents; accommodation documents. If documents are not received a decision will be taken on the basis on the information that has been provided.
If you have already had your supporting documents scanned in at the Visa Application Centre, or if you have already sent them in to us, please ignore the request for documents.
Please note that UKVI aims to complete all Visit Visa applications within 15 working days and all Settlement Visa applications within 12 weeks of the application date. If it is not possible to complete your application within this timeframe a member of our team will contact you to explain why.
If you have paid for Priority Service, your application will be placed in front of the queue and assessed ahead of other non-priority visa applications. As indicated in the terms of service, the amount paid for the priority service, as well as the visa fees, is not refundable if the visa application is refused or if the decision is delayed.
We regret that we are unable to respond to enquiries asking about the status of any application. Any status enquiry should be made to the international enquiry service, details of which are on the GOV.UK website. Staff at Embassies, visa processing centres and visa application centres cannot assist with visa enquiries. You may also wish to view the current processing times for applications made in your country.
A further email will be sent to you to confirm when your application has been assessed and dispatched. If your application was made in a Visa Application Centre, the staff there will contact you when your documents are ready – please do not attend the Centre until you are requested to do so.
Please note that you are advised not to purchase flight tickets until you have secured a visa for travel to the UK.
