TONY56: I don't agree with you sir. Bidding failed because too many people were chasing the amount earmarked for the auction. If you look at the results very well, you will see that ALL the tenors were seriously oversubscribed and that's a pointer to what will happen in subsequent auctions. They will equally be oversubscribed and the rates will fall seriously because those banks whose bids failed yesterday will bring down their bids in other to be successful.
I predicted last week that the rate we would get at the first auction yesterday is likely to be the highest this quarter and the very high amount of money bided yesterday is pointing in that direction and as the banks try to outwit each other; the stop rates will continue to fall. Well what u said sir is part of the reason ..Its not the Ist time t-bills will be oversubcribed ..if CBN wants/need be to mop up more liquidity they can sell more T billst to regulate inflation and forex stability ..And they may not cos they re tryn to borrow @ lower rate Let see what happens the next Auction ..part of what i meant was that someone like me now have the idea of the range which the t-bills rates will go for that was why i did't participate on the first one .. I will try the next auction , but not witt all my funds ..With the outcome i can prepare myself either to minimize my investment or shift finally to the equity mkt Who knows what the next rate will be ..lets wait and see if it worth it or not / oversubcribed |

Let's see how next week will be. Like u said ogaoracle ..lets see how next week will be Where do we go from here ..Take profit and come back to buy at higher prices with more donations to brokers and other fees like my FBNH danflour and uba OR wait for pull back and buy more , or deep pull back [if u re lucky it comes before results start coming ] More homework to be done Only if there could be just one more deep pull back to board buses |

[quote author=RabbiDoracle post=63857707]I would have loved to advise you oo but this forum is a public one.
Even in Ph, if you are a big man that used to live in TAG, Golf estate, GRA, Peter Odili etc. Bros, you now need to humble yourself. Leave these areas because people will still be looking at you as a big man. Call wifey and explain to her that you will cut expenses. I mentioned rent because that is the single most expensive expense.
Then school fees for the kid. This is the second most expensive( if not the first in some cases). Where are they going to? Bereton? Find a cheaper alternative with good standard. I know all PH residents send their kids to Private schools.
Once you have cut down this, then evaluate your portfolio based on the current price of stocks in the market. If your portfolio size is less than 10m, just find another job and do. If wifey is employed, good. This will cushion the stress you will face. Otherwise she needs to do something.
Don't start up a business now. You will be wiped out!!! Reasons: you are inexperienced, you are desperate not to run out of cash and you are stressed.
If your portfolio is over 10m, go for money market instruments (Tbills). Discuss with Peterichy or Emmanuel and they will help you. However, if your balls are of steel, then you trade in stocks. Discuss with FX, BBM and Yok, they will guide you. Just use TA and survive.
I will not tell you to use FA because, you need time and patience. Why? Because you are in a trilemma: out of work, want to take care of family and don't want to lose the little money you have.
I wish you the best.
Well said Oga Oracle |

Infinitisi: Many people did then because nobody was really teaching or writing about stock selection techniques. Lots of tuition fees were paid by investors then. Thank God we investors are getting more knowledgeable now coupled with better technology.
On a lighter note I worked in a stockbroking firm in 96/97. That was my first ever job. I remember my MD on the phone trying to dissuade one of our clients based abroad from buying Liz Olofin PLC . The client was adamant that we buy it for him that its a penny stock and penny stocks are the best stocks to buy . At the end of the day we had to buy it. Only God knows if he still has them |

https://www.nairaland.com/4257304/nigeria-stock-market-among-topNigeria Stock Market Among The Top 5 Global Performers In 2017: CNN by Bede2u(m): 11:03am U.S. stocks were on a first-class ride into record territory in 2017. But they weren't alone. The value of public companies on global stock markets grew by $12.4 trillion in 2017, according to S&P Dow Jones Indices, which included dividends in its calculation. A number of markets even outperformed the U.S. Here's a look at the biggest stock market winners of 2017: 1. Argentina 2. Turkey 3. Nigeria 4. Hong kong 5. U.S The Nigerian All-Share index is still miles below record highs set in early 2008, but a 43% rally in 2017 has helped to close the gap. The index suffered mightily in 2015 and 2016 as low oil prices, militant attacks, currency troubles, elections and Ebola hit investor sentiment. But oil prices have moved higher, the central bank has made it easier to swap currencies and the economy has snapped out of recession, explained Zin Bekkali, founder and CEO of Silk Invest. Many analysts are optimistic that stocks could keep rising in 2018. "If you look at where we stand today, the [Nigerian] market is still one of the cheapest markets on the planet," said Bekkali. http://money.cnn.com/2017/12/27/investing/best-stock-markets-2017-world/index.htmlMore are still coming ! |
