With my original account, I have been on Nairaland way longer than most of you here. Over the years, I have dealt with a lot of people on this forum, and I can tell you for free that the genuine ones are a small percentage (Maybe less than 10). 20% will collect your money and disappear, while the other 70% will do rubbish for you.

It is my right to protect my money, site and reputation through whatever means necessary, and I will not be vilified for that.

I have spent the last three years working on the site in question. During this period, I have spent nothing less than N5M (This is not an exaggeration) on it. The first person I hired to build the site, I met him here on NL. He did his own part, and got adequately compensated for it. I had no issues with him. Till date, I have hired more than 20 developers to handle different stages of the project, mostly from Fiverr but also from Nairaland.

If you see a task that you cannot do, either because you lack the experience or other reason, the honourable thing to do is to pass, instead of putting your mouth in something you have no idea about.

Like I stated, from personal experience client with too many conditions turn out cheap.

That's my experience same as you had mixed experiences.

Recently met another that needs a particular website. After installing the script, I hang my mouse and ask him for upfront.

Na so we start stories but I just forget that deal and moved on.

If you are a client and has been scammed in the past abeg no near my dm because I will always request 50% upfront or I'll work 30% of the job and request my 50% upfront and before I make delivery my money go dey 100% complete before I can hand over.

If you are using WordPress there is a script that will put such client website on a blank mode.

I want to share my experience in crawling leads from Jiji. As a web scraping enthusiast, I've tackled various sites, but this one proved to be difficult. This is because the phone numbers are in the product detail page and you have to be logged in to get it. Another issue I faced was that the website is loaded with java script and uses infinite scrolling.

I was able to circumvent these road blocks by using selenium to login to the site with my personal details after which I saved the cookies as a json file. As the cite uses infinite scrolling I scraped all the sellers url links to a csv file. I then read the url links so as to crawl the site using the links.

Remember my login details have been saved as cookies in a json file, In the process of crawling the site again using the URLs, I applied the cookies from the json file. The crawler visited each seller's detail page using the saved URL links and clicked the "Show Contact" button to extract the contact information.

Retailers specializing in second-hand items like laptops can leverage this approach coupled with applied analytics on the scraped the data to gain swift access to mouth-watering deals, faster than regular visitor

Never work without a deposit and never deliver work until full payment. They all come with the excuse that they've been scammed by other developers, always tell them that their trust issues does not constitute an emergency for you.
