Chinese labour is cheap in the context of developed countries. You'd compare China to UK, USA, Germany, France, Russia and Switzerland in terms of wage rate and skill level of the average labour. If we assume skill level is relatively equal amongst them, wage differ and Chinese is extremely cheap compared to the rest because of higher supply resulting from their high population. So Chinese labour is cheap compared to other labour that are high in quality. The Chinese labour is highly productive and skilled because their government pays very close attention to education especially at the primary and secondary level. Their education system is very rigorous and designed to ensure that at the end of graduating from secondary school, the average Chinese has the technical knowledge to either run a business, production facility or produce one commodity or product. It is why China is the production hub of the world. Let's come down to Nigeria, what is the quality of labour here? Majority of the labour force in Nigeria is highly unskilled and myopic at best. They can't produce or compete with the labour in the aforementioned countries because they got shitty education right from primary to secondary and tertiary level. It is in this geographical contraption you'll find a geologist who doesn't know the technical aspects of mining fossil fuels or minerals from the earth, an electrical engineer who can't come up with an electrical blueprint for wiring a skyscraper or design a system to ensure Nigerians stop bypassing prepaid meters...the list goes on. A thread was on front page the other day asking about the worst course to study in a tertiary institution. Surprisingly, microbiology and many scientific courses made the list... Foolish Nigerians don't know that it is from courses like this you get solutions to problems like COVID 19, EBOLA, and other diseases ravaging Nigeria and the world. Nairaland is where you will find out the intelligence of the average Nigerian or majority of the populace. Ask for a business idea and state the specific capital you have. You'll be shocked at the ridiculous ideas you'll get. It just points out how poor the quality of the labour force is in Nigeria thanks to our shitty PUBLIC EDUCATION AT ALL LEVELS. I emphasize the former because it is where you find majority of Nigerians seeking education. I could go on and on but heek, how many Nigerians are intellectually competent to read this lengthy post of mine and agree or disagree at an intellectual level? Few at best. For those who will read this in many years ahead, hopefully when this geographical contraption gets better political leadership, please know that Nigeria, at the time of this piece, has one of the worst set of political leaders in the world. They are just plain dumb and stupid and only interested in acquiring fiat power so they can remain in power and oppress others. They're responsible for 50% of the problem. The other 50% goes to the populace who, despite the wealth of knowledge and information available in the 2021, online and offline, choose to be lead by a bunch of incompetent and extremely corrupt nincompoops. The future doesn't look bright for Nigeria. I drop my pen solemnly. |

Great development but I'm sure that 95% of members of the two most popular parties with extremely corrupt members won't support this bill. This is where you see thieves protecting themselves |

ultiabaz36:The best thing you can do is carry your village people, add one bottle of gin and some kolanuts and go beg her in the presence of her father to forgive you for being so foolish to refuse her demand and for being so lazy as to not be able to earn more than 45k monthly. Tell her you'll be handing all your monthly earnings to her henceforth. She'll love you the way Eve loved Adam. Whoever tied your destiny to puci is still very much alive and using your picture as handfan. |

Everything is wrong with this government, from setting wrong priorities to spreading unnecessary propaganda while seriously underperforming in critical sectors of the economy; food, security and power. If you want to discourage neighboring countries from buying your food crops, simply hike export tariff and taxes on the food items instead of coming to wail in the media as if shifting blames will solve the problem. How the useless news media failed to point out that it is the insecurity generated by boko haram, bandits and herdsmen across the length and breadth of the country that is preventing farmers from farming and harvesting their crops beats my imagination. Buhari is a tremendous disappointment. All politicians in Nigeria are useless, all of them |
How can you force adults in a university to wear uniforms? No wonder some private, state universities and polytechnics are regarded as GLORIFIED SECONDARY SCHOOLS. |

Buckeyemedia1:It is the duty of any state government to also create farms, factories, beer Parlours and event centres. Fold your hand and keep waiting for government to come and build toilet for your private shít. Rubbish |
All this arraingee kidnapping. Most of the students there are part and parcel of the kidnaping activities... They're undercover agents for the bandits. These set of bandit northerners just using banditry to lot from national treasury. When militants turn off the pipelines putting money into the treasury they will go find another job. How can northerners be given this country such a bad image as a country of terrorism and insecurity? This is why Nigeria must split. It's extremely dangerous to share one country with bandit and terrorist sympathisers. They are like weed smokers, very unreasonable, and they don't value life. The south can find a way to deal with the corruption in the south because that's the biggest problem in the south. Banditry, terrorism and fanaticism that the north is now known for is something many people can not deal with Allow the north to go so they can have their full islam and practice their religion and develop how they like. It's so wrong to Tie people together in the name of unity when they have nothing in common aside from mutual hate for each other. Pharaoh, let my people go. |

Ovamboland:Whenever you quote anyone, make sure you're bringing new meaningful contribution or information to the discussion. I can't deduce the point you're trying to make. Are you saying there shouldn't be full financial autonomy for the police when it becomes state police? It's lazy and clueless govt that focus their energy on collecting income taxes to foot their bills. Income Taxes are illegal hindrance to the efforts of humans. Who taxes the govt's income? Before 1913, taxes did not exist in the USA... Taxes were introduced as a temporary measure to raise revenue, and today greedy govts have adopted it as their chief way of raising income instead of devising other means of making money for the state. UAE, Omar, Kuwait, Monaco, Bahamas and Cayman Islands are just some countries that don't charge income tax but highly developed due to their forward thinking and development oriented govts that depend mainly on export and other sources of revenue. It's easy for lazy african countries to sit in their office and authorize income tax deductions they use to fund their corrupt and ignoble lifestyle while citizens like you jump to cheer them on. If you don't speak against the evils and potential evils you see in any government, you'll surely reap the rewards directly or indirectly. God bless you |

Gadafii:Good research skills. Lazy op won't do simple research. Looking for job up and down when you can learn a skill and be self employed. |
State governments struggling to pay minimum wage is dragging to control state police They should make sure police salary is not controlled by state governors. Creation of state police should be with full financial autonomy. Their salary and other emoluments should be deducted at source. Otherwise, police brutality will quadruple and innocent citizens will be forced to pay their salaries via intimidation. |

Sorry about your experience. I'll suggest that you leave your number visible on your profile so that anyone dealing with you can go and cross-check if it's the same number on your profile they're chatting with. This camouflaging of numbers with web links is what gives opportunity to scammers to lie and manipulate inexperienced people into thinking they're dealing with you. The inexperienced people have no way of telling if it's true, and not everyone is smart enough or will always know that you're Yoruba. Whoever wants to deal with you can go to your profile and copy your number and contact you. So it's best to stop giving the demonic scammers opportunity to run man in the middle scams by hiding your number from public view. Note that the number on your profile is not accessible anywhere else on nl, including via search. This is just my 1 satoshi. But do what you think is best. Cheers |
Irresponsible upbringing. If the mother was responsible, she won't have two daughters and A LOVER instead of her husband. She should quietly enjoy the fruits of her good parenting |
GeneralPula:Is Oshiomole Igbo? Please don't ever mention me in any stupid tribal slur. |
Southerners like to pull themselves down while fighting to retain power. Since Bumi was placed there as national chairman, have you heard of his brothers struggling to pull him down at all cost? Oshiomole was there from the south but his fellow brothers pulled him down because they lack foresight. This is one of the reason why the president appoints people from his side into sensitive position; because he knows nobody will be fighting to pull the person down. Oshiomole had the blessings of the president but still it wasn't seen as a good thing, and they struggled to drag him down. I hope they enjoy the lack of a powerful force in Aso Rock from the south south |
Vice President turned loan mediator. Completely unnecessary. If the governors fail to repay, deduct it from their monthly allocation simple. After all the governors don't work in their states, don't pay salaries but drive exotic cars and pay their own salaries and those of their stooges timely. State governors have become useless just as they have rendered local governments useless. This "strong man" show we run in this country is our undoing. Build strong instructions and let them run on their own such as crypto smart contracts run automatically without intervention of their creators or dev. Osibanjo should face his constitutional responsibilities instead of undermining institutional process by jumping in to mediate or always getting in the news for either chopping corn in public or sharing peanuts to market women. Enough is enough. |
