Politics › Re: Osun Workers To Boycot Mayday Celebration Because Of Hunger. by lanremi: 12:55pm On Apr 22, 2015 |
AnambraDota: Labour unions in Osun State have agreed to boycott the activities to mark the 2015 May Day due to the non-payment of five months’ salaries by the state government.
The factional Chairman of the Trade Union Congress, Mr. Francis Adetunji, said this in an interview with our correspondent in Osogbo on Tuesday. He said that this was the agreement reached by labour leaders, saying workers would stay away from the May Day celebration which holds on May 1 every year.
Adetunji said, “ No May Day celebration this year. That is the decision of the entire workers in Osun State. We cannot be celebrating when workers have not been paid a dime since the beginning of the year.
“The last salary we were paid was part-payment of November salary. Since then, we have not collected any salary. We will not celebrate the May Day because our salaries are not paid.”
The TUC factional chairman also debunked the claim in some quarters that the refusal of Governor Rauf Aregbesola to approve the budget proposal for the Workers’ Day celebration prompted his call on workers to go on the three-day warning strike last week.
He said, “There was nothing like that. We did not present any budget before the government concerning Workers’ Day.
The only request we want to make to the governor is that he should look for money by all means and pay workers.
“ We are hungry. I am very serious, our workers are very hungry and only those who are close to workers will know the severity of this hunger.”
He said that the governor invited labour leaders to a meeting which was supposed to have held on Monday but labour leaders postponed the meeting because of the preparations for the election of state officials of the Nigeria Labour Congress coming up on Thursday April 23.
Adetunji scored Aregbesola administration high in infrastructural development but said the governor should do something urgently to redeem his image among the workers because of the irregular payment of workers’ salaries which according to him started since after the August 2014 governorship election.

Ojeremi: Fayose..a disgrace to Yoruba Tribe...u said Buhari was in an Hospital in London. Now He is Trnscorp..u honestly deserve to be evaluated for Mental disorder..i wonder what the white things in ur skull is meant for..or it might have been replaced with indomie..just like ur fellow Doyin Okupe According to him, Nigerians deserve the truth from her leaders and he promised to tell Nigerians the truth. Gov Fayose said contrary to what the APC is saying, General Buhari is at the Cavendis Square in London. "Buhari is on the sick bed at Cavendis Square, London. They should come out and say so. I am not wishing him dead but we have a duty to always speak the truth. The APC have been trying to cover it up by not allowing him travel out but the man knows he is sick and so, he decided to go for medical check. But my argument is that General Buhari is old, even to govern a state. Governing this country needs energy and strength. We don’t want a president that will be inside the house and other people will hijack that government from him and start governing Nigeria as if it is their personal property. They will need to educate the people to read between the lines. I am not against General Buhari, there must be a leader at a given time, but the fact remains that he is frail and not strong enough to run the affairs of this country.” he said read very well dont because u want buhari by force or out of hatred to the mess anger (fayose) that makes you not to see any truth in his statement,he said the picture that apc posted was a fotoshop, not real that he is in hospital in London. |

ayukdaboss: By this time, some so-called "literates" still don't know the difference between a statement of result and a certificate?? One would wonder how almost 5 cases are in court concerning this issue and none of them are producing results. * Buhari never said his certificates were with the Military (He said his academic records which could mean anything - and of course his academic records were with the Military which they released some time ago) * WASC or its equivalent is what is required as qualification to contest elections* * One of the equivalents to WASC is serving in a Public Office for 10 years or more* * Buhari having served Nigeria previously for more than 10 years is already qualified based on that*
These people can keep on fooling around. point of correction, serving in public offices for 10 years alone is not equivalent to WASC but with primary school certificate. |
