EducationRe: Can I Study Medicine And Surgery With This Result. by laoma4u: 2:44am On Jul 30, 2019
NwaAmaikpe:
shocked

Your physical and biological sciences subjects are sadly amongst the weakest in your result.
You will not do well in Medicine.

A C5 in Biology means you have just an average knowledge of human cells, the anatomy and all the various systems that make up the human body.

A C6 in Chemistry means you have just a vague comprehension of chemicals, their properties and potential reactions with cells in the human body.

How can you diagnose and prescribe then without killing people? Those alone are the basics in MBBS.

My advice is this,
Study Geography and Planning or Geology up to the Ph.D level and you'd still be a doctor.

Afterall a doctor is still a doctor.
Even Papa Sherifatu the babalawo's business card reads Doctor.
This is very misleading.
Waec is the beginning of your academic career and doesn’t guarantee anything. So many factors could have gone wrong during the actual waec exams. Getting A in waec is a skill on its own. I had C4 in chemistry and physics and i have two masters in chemical and petroleum engineering respectively. I also now work actively using the principles of volumetric analysis everyday. Why did i have a C4 in chemistry? Well I didn’t know how to get As when i was writing waec. Your jamb score tells me you are intelligent, you will learn the rest in university. I went to Uniben too and my classmate in secondary school didn’t do much better than you in waec. He studied medicine in the same uniben and graduated with flying colors..

Dont be discouraged.. go for it

still not the end of the world. first thing to do is to lodge your cv on careers.slb.com that is schlumberger's career site. other servicing companies also collect unsolicited applications. servicing companies value courses like physics a lot because most of their operations are based on basic physics. apply under field specialist position, i can assure you you'll get a test invite before the end of this year. the next thing is to improve your testing skills. cos you wouldn't want to have a rare opportuinity and waste it. also google mud logging jobs, might be helpful.

Physics is a very strong course. If you made a 2.1 your chances are even juicier. You can apply to oil companies especially servicing companies as either a petrophysicist or a geophysicist. You can also further for your masters in geophysics. A lot of scholarship opportuinities there. With a course like physics, your options are unlimited. Provided ypu made a good grade shaa..

I got to the d interview stage last year when I was serving, about 60 of us out of about 4000 that wrote dragnet, but they chose just 10 or so.. I wasn't among then sad.
so the probability of getting to d interview is about 1.5% a little slim but it's worth the try. $80,000 to US schools (2yrs) $60,000 to UK schools (1 year)
See analysis. The prob is only 1.5% assuming the 4000 people were on d same 'dragnet' level. Truth is u just need to improve your dragnet skills and d prob is like 90% cos most boys still don't pass dragnet. Its a matter of you. Honestly, dragnet is easy. I used to fail it when i started too. But i started asking why, gained some confidence. Learnt some skills, and bam... I even prefer dragnet being d organizers than any other coy. I have a lots of tricks ive developed for the maths. I write them down on my rough sheet before i start. There is no point dropping them because its only me that mostly understands them. Like relationship between numbers, say 20 percent percentage increase means multiply by 1.2 and 20 percent decrease multiply by 0.8 or by 4/5 or 8/10 depending on which comes to mind first if u catch d drift. I have done other ones for almost all other basic mathematics. U also have to be daring in your arithmetic abilities, don't just give up because it looks like a complex sum. Na lie, those complex sums take some people 10 seconds to do so what's ur excuse??..So i take like 5 minutes before the maths to recollect all my tricks before starting. Then i always do at least 15 and get them right.

The verbal also has some tricks to it. Study the past questions judiciously and you'll see the trend in how they create d options. There's mostly always a stupid option, then a very close option to throw people off their game. You just have to identify them. Some are just two flat out dumb options. Makes it really easy to do at least 15 and getting them right.

They pay your school fees in whichever sch u choose to go to and accommodation based on d contract when u get to ur destination.. They also pay you a sum of 1200 dollars monthly for upkeep. Just chilling basically, cos your accommodation has been paid. Its one of d best scholarships out there.. People fear you when they hear u got mobil. The only probable downside is the fact that you're on ur own after the program. They are not obliged to employ u, infact na coincidence if any of the scholars end up working for them

Best of luck guys
CareerRe: About Relocating To Nigeria From The United States by laoma4u: 4:33pm On Jun 16, 2015
ronald4lif:
The OP is a troll. He's not a U.S naturalized citizen as claim. He claims he has been in the States for just 5years whereas to become a naturalized citizen of America one must be a resident for 10years from the day they secured residence permit.

Again, in one of his comments sometime in 2013, he said he's on U.S B1/B2 visa and was seeking for information on how to secure a residence permit. So how did he become a citizen between 2013 and 2015?. Not possible.

He should just say he intend relocating back to Nigeria after his studies because life abroad is strenuous and thorny for illegal immigrants. If that is the case, it's a welcome development and the right thing to do.
there are so many ways he could have become naturalized within that timeframe.. i am not arguing with the B1/B2 part but i know that people get U.S citizenship via different routes. my friend's father is a citizen and they just did a dna test and homeboy became a citizen within months.

Hmm which kain respect for foriegn certificate?? foriegn certificate is like garri these days oooh. its no big deal. Experience is what you should be preaching.. naija don open eye this days oooh

bayulll01:
Good decision moreover I will want to bring to some situation and by then you will decides if you still want to relocate,As a chemical engineer yes you can easily get a job with your foreign certificate here cos nigeria believe so much in certificate from abroad,I will advice you why don't you work a little and gather experience there in america, say work for 2 or 4 yrs,by then u will apply as an expatriate and guess what they do to expatriate in this country they worship then and pay all their fees including their kids who want to come here.

Asides that you will need to get yourself high with lack of good transport system, electricity and all form of stuff peculiar to nigerians,is good you want to come back home, but my candid advice wait a little bro and watch what buhari will do.

Regards

This thread can sweet, my own opinion though, chevron is looking for some traits in candidates that they called to the next stage, firstly they was a ridiculous merit cut off say 80%, then there was a benchmark cut off say 60% for guys with first class or masters.. Most of the people that i know went thru had masters or first class. So make una no vex.

I personally think thats smart HR, give everyone a chance then handpick what you need.. Unlike oando that is just going for the best hurdle scalers. Those ones would probably not even look at CV's until d final stage. They'll then realize that they bounced d best candidates and took d best hurdle scalers. But then again.. Im just whining cause i didn't scale that hurdle embarassed

My opinion ooh... Before una chop me raw

My 10kobo, oil price drop doesnt really affect whether a coy like oando will recruit or not, this is not the first oil recession. Oil prices will always stabilize so as far as someone in japan is not inventing an economical source of sustainable energy, oil coys will still ball. If oil price stabilizes at 10$, then coke and fanta will bend to that price, garri and rice also. D world economy at large. Its just this transition period that might be rough. They will only lose top staff, not graduates. Companies are smart enough to know that they cant have a hole in their graduate schemes. I.e a gap btw experienced professionals and graduates. I think it just has to do with all the uncertainity concerning nigeria as a whole. By the way,oil price has been rising steadily since last week.. 57 dols now.. Lets just keep making hypothesis and sipping mirinda... I get like 3 crates
