The only person I know who has ever spent one month in police custody was accused of murder.

In fact, the AIG of Zone 9 at that time Hassan Karma called us for a meeting and made it clear that the guy would be released because there is no concrete evidence against him.

He said it is against the Police Act and Administration of Criminal Justice to keep him there for more than one month.

We were told that in crimes like stealing and fraud, the suspect can only be detain for 48 hours, only murder can attract one month detainment with the police.

You can meet the terms of bail and you won't be released if the verification of your sureties hasn't been done or your sureties are deemed unsuitable.

The fact that you're given bail doesn't mean you will automatically go home. Bail comes with conditions.
Speed Darlington was given bail since but he couldn't meet the conditions for bail.
