There are so many reasons why this policy will not give you the expected outcome. Let me just list a few.

1) You don't become a paediatrician within 5 years of graduation, so this bill if passed into law WILL NOT ensure that there is a paediatrician for your child.

2) The average work experience of doctors japaing is probably about 5 or more years already so the actual positive effect of this bill in terms of adding to the medical work force will be minimal. Most japa doctors spend close to 5 years already in Nigeria before exiting so the only thing this bill will do is antagonize the few that want to leave early by its similarity to indentured servitude/modern slavery.

3) Even if you are abkle to keep them back for 5 years what you will get will be a situation whereby doctor exit after the 5-year period will explode beyond what we have now, leading to a situation whereby only inexperienced doctors would be left in the country.

4) You will also have some medical graduates leaving the country for other African countries (and Caribbean countries) to start work as house officers and getting their full registration after 1yr rather than wasting 5 years in Nigeria to get the same full registration. You will be losing these ones from Year 0 not Year 5.

We have not mentioned the illegality involved in witholding full registration form doctors when the standard practice in all the sane parts of the world is to award full registration after completion of internship/housemanship.

Then there is the fact that all other public university students are also "subsidized" so i wonder why only doctors are being targeted to bear the brunt of a failed system. If we ask now, people will say doctors' jobs are special and they need to make the sacrifice. If we ask for better conditions and pay now, the same people will say doctors are not doing any special job and should go and sit down jo.
I said it here the day the issue started that the govt should allow tertiary education to be fully autonomous and let schools charge rate that can take care of the schools needs while the govt help the less privileged with scholarships and education loans.

That way you get a better school funding, no ASUU strike, better learning environment.

If you incorporate it with better welfare package and overhaul of the health sector, you have started solving the issue from the root cause.

You don't even need Tinubu to enter and remove it before you know what will happen.

Nigeria Labour Congress has already done a summersault that subsidy removal will be resisted. cheesy

I pray they succeed anyway because I'm heavily reliant on fuel and it will take the grace of God to get any significant raise at work to compensate.
If Tinubu remove fuel subsidy today, even me go protest because the way things go skyrocket no be small thing. That’s why i don’t want Buhari to remove the subsidy on his way out. Let Tinubu be the one to make the decision so we can start fighting within ourselves when he goes ahead and do it. 😂

On this particular topic, my stand is clear.

If the intention of the bill is to stop brain drain in the health sector then the best thing to do is to do total revamp and not doing cosmetic facelift that doesn’t even touch the root cause of the issue.

Wait make Tinubu enter and remove the subsidy and see how they will begin to blame APC people as if the principal they supported didn’t subscribe to it.

Me myself is even against the subsidy removal

One of my problems with audiobooks is that I would have to save them over a long period of time on my device. This is because, I am the kind of reader that would revisit a book I read 2 years ago or few months ago and want to review a few things. I can’t do that with audiobook, except I save them and that eats a ton of space on my devices. Some people rent or borrow hardcover books, no be me! I prefer to own my books.
e-books should solve that problem, right?

That’s how I read Ted Dekker “The Circle Trilogy”. I read a snippet from the first book “Black” and just got hooked.

Black - Red - White. An absolute masterpieces, though it’s Christian fiction.

I heard he wrote a fourth book “Green” but I haven’t gotten around to read it.

Despite the ban on open grazing in some states, has there been total compliance? The Fulanis have been grazing their cattles openly because even the government knows that's not the solution.
You do know you can import grasses right?

Because the Fulani have been doing open grazing doesn’t mean it’s the right thing to do and the govt has suggested RUGA which is basically what I’m telling you that was opposed.

Open grazing should be outlawed totally. If you want to run your personal business, go and find grass and water for yourself.

I will always condemn those that enter people's farm.

This is dry season. If you come to Northern Kaduna right now , the whole place is dry and plain. No grass anywhere at this time. So they will keep pushing pushing further in search of this grasses.

This thing is complicated. How do you want them to go into such distances in search of grasses without their cows.

Sit and listen to them. Is whole lot complicated than the way you are seeing it.
So instead of calling on the govt on establish a ranch where they can rear their cattle without stress while they only pay charges to use the ranches, they had rather be roaming up and down and be looking for free grass to eat?

You do know this is the major cause of the farmers - herders clash right?

We are not serious in this country.

grin grin. This one can never work oh. They will tell you the motor parks government provided for motorists. Are there paying for the use of the land? They only collect their normal tickets dues.

Grasses and water, very expensive for them. Is a business and they have done their analysis. The Fulanis own 90 + cattle in Nigeria. We are talking huge numbers here.

They will rather roam with their cattles for fresher and free grasses in the bushes. That way, they will save cost.
This doesn’t make sense. Cattle rearing is a private business. The analogy with motor park doesn’t cut it.

They are not providing their own grasses neither their own water currently but they are taking the profit 100% while laying waste to farmers farm and even killing some of them.

If they want to roam about, then they can do it in their compound and provide grass for them. Not trespassing into other peoples land and farms to feed their cattles.
