I haven't written a single line of code since 2009, and I haven't been a technical resource since December 2016, so I don't keep up trends or innovation in those areas.

As such, I might not be the best person to address your question on combined roles. What I can tell you however, is that I haven't seen it before.

I believe that any frontend developer will be more than capable of UI/UX design, since they have to turn the vision into a usable product. I doubt there is a front end coder alive that has never had to wireframe/prototype a product concept, and most of the ones I've worked with are more than competent with the likes of Figma and/or Balsamiq.

The difference between Design and Engineering functions in most shops is purely for organisational reasons rather than skill/capability based.

When you're working in an agile environment, with finite resource, looking to show-and-tell something at end of each sprint, you cannot have your valuable Engineering resource gathering requirements or refining product backlogs.

I suppose if budgetary concerns or flatter organisational structures are in play, a company might look to blur the lines between UI/UX and developer, but I haven't seen it happen.

Maybe Disstroy might have a different view.
Thank you bro. I think the problem is that most 9ja coys wants someone who can actually do both or at least have sufficient knowledge in both.

Before now I’m purely a design guy, I have no knowledge about how to write any code apart from looking at css code in figma. I can comfortably conceptualize a solution from ideation to wireframe and prototype but that’s where it ends for me.

The new role I’m starting requires me to have basic knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript though they are going to do some form of tutorial for me. I have wanted to learn these no code tools before especially bubble as you can use it to build an app but I really do not want to get myself involved in anything code or no code related 😭. That’s why I’m asking if there’s anything like UX Engineers as that might just be the ginger I need.

I guess I’ll have to upskill to stay ahead.

UI/UX as a discipline is code-agnostic.

UX is about the user/customer journey through your system, and how and when you present them with access to information and resource.

The UX designer architects (sometimes in conjunction with a product owner/manager or BA) what the user experience should be, and then instructs his engineering team/technical resource to construct it
Yes I understand this concept as this is the normal flow of what a UX Designer and the engineering team does.

What I was asking is if the UX Designer wants to turn into a UX Engineer where he gets to converts its design into functional products.

You know we have these no code tools like bubbles, webflow and the likes where you can design and build your design into working products without writing any code.

A UI/UX designer design user interfaces while following user experience guidelines. A UI/UX designer uses tools like: Figma, Adobe XD...etc

A Frontend developer builds the UI that the UI/UX designer created.
A Frontend developer uses technologies like:
HTML, CSS, JavaScript, a JavaScript framework like React, Angular, Svelte, Astro... etc (dem plenty but React is the top boy)
API integration

A UX engineer, I'm thinking it's kind of what you'll call a UNICORN.
Designs the interface then builds it with those frontend tools (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) in other to make the design functional.

It's kinda a hybrid position where they work in both the design and development team
I am a UX Designer myself so I understand what both UI/UX and Frontend Dev is.

I think I agree with your last paragraph.

Is there any difference between UX Engineering and Frontend Development?

Why I have to learn HTML, CSS and Javascript?

Yeah sleeping pill is a slippery slope. After some time that dose will stop working and then you need to increase again and again.

It is better to carry out behavioural changes like reducing coffee and alcohol, appropriate exercise, improving phone,TV, and book hygiene. Then also work on reducing underlying stress and anxiety.
I don’t even drink coffee, smoke or drink alcohol. I’ve never smoked or tasted alcohol in my life.

That stress and anxiety is the main thing. It’s not easy not to stress sha. May God make things easy for us.

Even on weekends, it’s the same thing. I just do staggered sleeping pattern. I can only sleep for that long if I take a sleeping pill and I can’t be taking a sleeping pill every time. If I try to force myself to sleep, I’ll start having headache.

What I try to do is sleep around 6pm if I can and wake around 7:30 - 8pm, eat and try to sleep before 12am again.

What will be an acceptable middle point for you
A better working condition and tools (govt at all levels should invest in equipping the hospitals that are under them), increase the residency slot to employ more doctors to relieve the workload and then increase their numeration (basic salary and allowances). 5k hazard allowance is ridiculous. I’m not saying pay them 100k as hazard allowance but at least it should be something reasonable say 30-40k.

That is what happened. Most of the money that had accrued to them before contributory pension started was somehow lost. Those that were hardest hit were those that had worked many years before 2007. It is not out of the ordinary for a pensioner in Lag to be getting half what his/her Ogun partner is getting. The more your work experience predated 2007 the bigger your loss.

Yeah, she has. I just asked her and she told me they actually contacted her that it was ready last December, but she wasn't in the country. That is still about 2.5yrs since retirement though. According to her it takes about 2 years to move up the waitlist so i suspect 2021 retirees are yet to be paid. Na turn by turn.

Another thing is that Lagos State short-changed them. Their colleagues who retired in other states like Ogun, Oyo, Ondo e.t.c are getting far more. Something to do with one conversion they did some years back (around 2007) in the pension scheme. Several millions disappeared into the air for everybody when they moved over to contributory pension.

Lagos is owing Pension and Gratuity of retirees, don't even argue this one cos na my field be that. Primary School, Secondary and Local Government and Mainstream retirees are been owed years of pension, Lagos State just started paying 2020 retired junior staff of Primary Schools on grade level 1 to 7. The money Tinubu and other former Governors collected as bogus pension parkage would have cleared all backlog on Pension in Lagos and also build some basic infrastructures too, no be everything be agenda for here....
Bros Lagos is not owing Pensions and Gratuity. If you have the evidence, bring it forth.
