monerozi5590: Ok. I mentioned Buhari because I want you to see how things were before Buhari came in.
He really tried in the Agricultural Sector. He came up with grow what you eat and eat what you grow. Fertiliser plants have really sprang up so also rice mills. I think before now we are the largest importer of rice from Thailand (1st position) but now we are down down below or not even in the rating anymore. You know Agriculture is also a means of foreign exchange.
Infrastructure too. He did well here too.
Social Investment Programme. He did very well here too especially when Osinbajo was the handling it.
These are the few I can remember for now. He actually did well in some sectors, infact better than most of his predecessors but he has fùcked up the economy with inconsistent policy. Funny enough, most of these policy were in conjunction with the CBN. |

BlueRayDick: So I have a source in sterling. She told me the one of Ado Ekiti in which sterling was accused of hoarding 6m was an old video which CBN just decided to release now. She said it was early February when they were yet to configure their ATM to pay the new notes particularly in 200 naira denominations ; CBN for reaons best known to them decided to use the video now that the heat is on them ( I don't know how true her position is cos she most likely want to defend her employers)
But as regards this issue of 258m that made news yesterday, they don't have full Info yet. An internal investigation has been launched and they wait to get a full grasp of what really happened.
In all of these, I think CBN and the banks are trying to sway the opinion of the public in their favor. The unfortunate thing is everybody(most especially the masses) are suffering it. CBN is trying to push the Bleep up to the banks because they are easy to hold than CBN. I read a report this morning that Emefiele asked Buhari for approval to print more new naira note and admitted that the policy might have "failed" at the interim during their meeting yesterday. I dont know how true the report is so will wait for official statement from the presidency if any. CBN no send all these banks, Emefiele is just trying to save himself from the backlash he getting. |

BlueRayDick: The next working day CBN will announce the sacking of their entire board of directors and appoint a new board because the bank has given out so many bad loans that the shareholders fund is at risk ( Not like most banks are not guilty of the same offence o) Walai. That's why you see that most of these banks just grumble and comply with whatever memo CBN send them. |

Melvyn11: Nothing wrong with the idea of Emifiele but the execution has been poorly handled and rushed. But you are right, everything is on Emifiele and not Buhari. He brought up a good idea with poor execution. Buhari gave approval without consulting with other people in govt including his own Finance Minister. Just maybe if he had carried everyone along, we won't be talking about poor execution now. |

afrodoc2: They are trying to circumvent this by presenting this bid differently.
PSG is owned by QSI (Qatar Sports Investment) which is a subsidiary of QIA (Qatar Investment Authority). QIA is the state-run sovereign wealth fund. This United bid is apparently being prepared by a group of PRIVATE Qatari investors. It just happens that these PRIVATE investors are members of the royal family. LOL.
To summarize, PSG is owned by the Qatar government while Man Utd would be owned by members of the Qatari royal family/nobility. Still very sticky. It depends on how UEFA interprets the ownership structures. They are crooks We are due for oyel money at this club though. Make ETH do point and kill. |

FBS: Whose idea was it? How could anyone think it was a good idea? The idea itself was good, it was the implementation that was horrible. The way most of the bank network crumble during the past few weeks point to one thing that we dont even have the infrastructure in place to go full cashless. Then coupled with how they are handling the cash issue. The ATM I used in Ikorodu here, I was on queue for hours only to get to my turn and I could only withdrew 1k naira maximum and you can do that just 3 times after that another person takes over. Just imagine the rubbish. |

raumdeuter: I saw one video yesterday that made me angry when female bank workers were climbing fence to escape from the mob. Imagine someones auntie, somesones mother, someones wife, someones sister climbing fence like they are criminals to escape for their lives just because they are going to work, they can break ankles or worse if the mob catches them
Like I said, let Emefiele distribute the money using his own channel and not point fingers at bankers. Imagine a Bank that normally gets 50M you give them 1m and you are going all over the news and social media to announce that banks are hoarding money. Why were they not hoarding the money 3months ago when they were getting regular amounts
No one is bringing money(especially new notes) to the banks anymore, so its only what CBN provides that banks use for transactions
Is it until the mob start lynching innocent bankers before they do something
Let Emefiele Buhari and their family be hawking the notes they printed and the banks refused to distribute, In fact commercial bans need to close down for a week to let this chaos calm down Zenith Bank refused to open most of their branches nationwide yesterday because of fear of chaos because coupled with the tension currently in the land, their network, bank app, ussd was not working. Day before yesterday, there was fighting at Zenith Ikorodu, Zenith Ikosi Ketu, Zenith Ojodu Berger and Zenith Akute (These are the 4 places that I had people that gave me information). Mopol and Police were stationed at Zenith Ikorodu and Zenith Ojodu Berger even though they didnt open. Let them continue to think they are doing someone and not see the anarchy that's loading. |

These are agencies that have direct impact on the daily lives of Nigerians. They are in disarray because there is no consequence for incompetence and clear sabotage. Everyone is doing as they please. BlueRayDick: Alright.
Then what happened to the provision of the electoral law that was celebrated back then that u can only contest for one elective position and not two at once ? Is Lawan legally allowed to participate in the Presidential primary as well as the Senatorial primary election in the same election period ? That exactly is what Machina should've challenged. The legality of the second Primary but he didnt. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by larride(m): 3:04pm On Feb 07, 2023 |
BlueRayDick: I'm not aware another primary was conducted. This second primary, did Lawan purchase nomination form separate for that one or what?
I thought one of the key points of the new electoral law is that u can only get nomination form and contest for one elective position. Yes he did. Another primary was conducted on June 9 which INEC monitored also. Before the second primary, APC NWC wrote to INEC that they had canceled the first primary that produced Machina. Machina refused to participate in the second primary saying he won the first primary fair and square and that the NWC had no reason to cancel it. That I believe should have been the basis of his trail. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by larride(m): 9:40am On Feb 07, 2023 |
BlueRayDick: So I've not been able to get fulls details of the Lawan-Machina case , but I got the excerpt above from Punch Newspaper's reporting of the judgement and Machina's camp reaction.
As I guessed the Supreme Court in its usual manner has used technicality deny a man who won an election(primary election in this case) what rightfully belongs to him.
Machina obtained senatorial nomination form, contested in the primary election and won. Then his party APC at the die minute submitted the name of Lawan as their candidate for the Senatorial election despite Lawan not participating in the primary election.
Machina then goes to court and claimed that APC fraudulently substituted his name for Lawan's despite the latter not participating in the primary elections. Do you know what the supreme court did?
The Supreme court in it's lead judgement knocked off Machina's case on the premise that if Machina claims his name was fraudulently substituted, then he should've called witnesses to prove the allegation of fraud instead of only filling originating summons. ( For educational purposes, this is what originating summons means: Originating Summons is one of the ways of commencing action in courts. An action commenced in this manner presupposes that the facts are not in dispute, and what is being asked for is interpretation of a document or law.)
Summary of all this is that the case was knocked off on technicality basis. The danger of this kind of precedents is that u can get away with anything in Nigeria provided ur lawyer can persuade the Supreme court to knock off a case against u on technicality basis. One of the mistake of Machina was not contesting the June 9 primaries that produced Lawan. Both primaries was monitored by INEC, APC claimed they canceled the first primary. School boy error from his lawyers. It was the correct decision by the SC |
