The moment they were defeated in battle, they already lost whatever crown they had, a good kind/leader doesn’t go about killing all those she already captured because they didn’t instantly submit to him.

In the heat of battle, ANYONE may be killed or maimed. But afterwards, especially if they put down their arms, the NOBLES are imprisoned in dungeons, the HEADS of the Houses (Lords) may or may not be killed depending on how stubborn they are (Lord Tarly qualifies as stubborn, so he will be most likely be executed). But the SONS/DAUGHTERS of the Lords are excellent bargaining pieces; no matter how hot-headed they are, if they are the ONLY son/daughter, then you simply cannot afford to kill them, else you will extinguish that House forever - and no, Samwell doesn't count as a second son, he is a Sworn Brother.

My point is, Daenerys made a grave error. If you hope to win people's loyalty, then you simply cannot exterminate their lineage like that. Tyrion said as much. You only do that if you want to rule by making them fear you, like Tywin did.

There is nothing like diplomatic strategy here. It is a game of power. For them to bend the knee shows that they accept her. They did not accept her as their Queen, hence the refusal to bend the knee.

What Dany wanted was acceptance which could make an alliance The whole problem was Dany use of words. It would have been better if she had say, Swear your allegiance to me.Obviously, they will bend the knee by doing that. .But she is more concerned about superiority than convincing them. .

That’s why I said she was more concerned with bending the kneel than any other thing in that particular scene.

If I remember that scene correctly, she started by telling them that whatever Cersei might have told them about her was wrong as she’s not here to destroy them and their villages and the next thing was “Bend the kneel or Die”.

Yes, Cersei was very correct about her.
