lertee: The Elected persons among us contribute greatest to the societal problem. People live in abject poverty and when they are approached and tipped with little packages, they wouldn't mind carrying out henious activities. An individual has a blame but the government has the largest blame. My dear, if someone is giving a little tip and he carrys out an henious act, if that person is caught, he will be dealt with, he has a choice to either accept or reject the offer, the moment he accept the full responsibility of what he does lays with him. Its as simple as that. Don't forget that these government ain't structures but they are people drawn out of us, they were once just like us the masses. |
Afam4eva: The government is a reflection of the people and the people are a reflection of what the government have become. The Nigerian mentality is a chronic disease that i believe the government can help solve. People don't just wake up and become responsible or good unless they're made to do so.Of course. The government definitely have a role to play. Let's take the Lagos State Government as an example, the state government enforces some strict laws to guide and bring things into order but you see people protesting so hard against these laws. We as Nigerians love being lawless and doing anything as we deem fit not as obtainable in other part of the world and when the government tries to make us responsible for those our actions we shout and cry foul. Can the government teaches a father how to lecture his/her child how to be responsible? That's the role of a father/mother in the house. Each one of us needs to go back to our houses, let's have a sober reflection on how lives. We gotta start taking responsibility for everything that is done around us. The government have just little to do, the buck of the work lays with us. |
xynerise: Sorry na becos of good boys like u I used ''sometimes''. I was wrong anyways. I forget say u join the bad people ![]() |
xynerise: There is no valid excuse for one to become a criminal or prostitute. Once a thief/prostitute, always a thief(unless arrested by God).Gbam. That's just the truth. I always say it that we the masses encourages and support corruption one way or the other. |
I think what we need is a total orientation of our mentality, let us task ourselves to start taking responsibility from our house to our LGA to our State then to the FG, let start holding our leaders responsible for their action or inaction starting from the local government area. You see a LG chairman in less than 6month driving exotic cars and living a life of luxury and his constituency is in shambles but we won't say anything because he's our friend and then we start blaming the State Gov or FG like they have eyes everywhere. The message is simple, Make Yourself Responsible, Hold your leaders responsible and accountable then we will see a drastic turn around in this country. |
lertee: Good, but could you tell me the number of people that have the opportunity to turn a bad situation into a good one in Nigeria today?Of course, no one was born a criminal. There are a lot of people who started from the scratch here in Nigeria and made it. What happens to patience, hardwork, unrelenting strive for a better life. No matter how bad a nation/country is, criminality is not the option. The little you have, make good use of it. A journey of a thousand miles starts with just a step. There's absolutely no excuse for a criminal, a criminal is a criminal. |
spikes C: No, they never did. They just allowed us to blame them. The thing is, from my point of view, i believe in working for myself and not depend on any support of any kind.So true. I have always said that the change we so much desire must start with us. Let's change our mindsets towards the society at large. Even our so called leaders are chosen among us. They will come distribute some little rice and other stuff to buy your vote instead of you voting for the best candidate for the job, when they start looting the treasury with reckless abandon we start to complain like those leaders falls from Pluto. |
lertee: If they do not do robbery or girls do not go into prostitution, how do they survive? Both are responsible. Let me ask you a question, do you think being an armed robber or a prostitute is the other option these people have? Forget about the no job ish, we all know that we have a high rate of unemployment which responsibility rest solely with the government. Now if you join a robbery gang and you get law catches you, you are responsible for that action you have taken and not the government. If you are a prostitute and you contract HIV/STD, you are the responsible for it and not the government. The government have their own responsibility while the society/individuals have their own responsibility also. |
lertee: Oh in this context you mean. Well I will attach such behavior to ignorance or sometime lack of enlightenment. We don't have to be remembered about the bad governance issue but there are some things that we do that also support the bad governance. The sole responsibility to move our life/family lays in our hand regardless of how bad the government is, what we make of the situation we find ourselves determine the kind of person we are. Sometimes we just take law into our hands and do all kind of atrocities and then we come blame the government for bad governance, we are as guilty as they are. If we are responsible to all our actions in our house and then later transfer it to our social life, then things can begin to change. Don't forget that these leaders were chosen among us, what they are displaying over there at the top is the mindset of an ordinary nigerian. |
spikes C: We blame our government for most things. If person child fall for gutter, na government faultThat's it bro. Lastma official arrested my granddad some few months back because he packed on the road side which he shouldn't. After everything was settled out and he came home, he was busy cussing Gov Fashola and Lastma official and I told him that the blame lays solely with him. IF he hadn't packed on the road side, the lastma official won't have impound his car but he won't agree, he just keep blaming the govt. I told him point blank that his action leds to what happen but won't accept any responsibility for that. Let's look at those criminals also i.e robbers, kidnappers, internet fraudsters, e.t.c once they are apprehended they will start giving excuses of no job, they are graduate, they have to keep body and soul together bla bla bla but they forget that there's always a choice. Whatever you do, you must be ready to face the consequence. No one can make a decision for (unless you are still a kid) so you must be responsible for whatever the decision brings forth. |
spikes C: Politics is fun if discussed with matured minds.I think we Nigerian don't like failures, when anything goes wrong, we always look for someone to blame instead of us to take responsibility for our action or in-action, we all want to de-associate ourselve from failure but embrace success wherever we find it. We need re-orientation about our mentality. We are responsible for whatever choices we make. |
