Nigerian singer Azeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley, the leader of the Marlian movement on Monday announced a free online concert for his fans. The singer was scheduled to take place on Saturday, saying, “Marlian Day celebrates our freedom and resilience through the daily challenges facing us in Nigeria and most recently during the COVID-19 crisis “Most especially the heroic frontline workers making personal sacrifices daily on behalf of Nigeria and humanity”. Chairperson of the Borno State Emergency Management Agency, Yabawa Kolo said the incidence happened on the eve of the Eid-El-Fitr. An unnamed doctor in the state of Bayelsa has tested positive for Coronavirus. A man who took a huge loan to finance his wedding has reportedly committed suicide just two months after. According to a report by WAR, the family of Mr. Okpanachi John is currently mourning after their son committed suicide over his marriage crashed two months after his wedding. His elder brother Michael Okpanach, said, a note found beside his corpse inside his sitting room reveals he committed suicide over his marriage crash. He, however, added that the deceased borrowed over N3 million from a bank for his wedding. John, who lives at the Sabo area along the refinery road in Kaduna, married a lady from the Ankpa area of Kogi state while he comes from Ofu local government in the same state with his wife. Michael said John’s marriage hit a rock as soon as they wedded, narrating how his brother had on many occasions called him to report how the wife was trying to turn him into a house boy, an attempt he said his brother resisted. He disclosed that the marriage finally came to an ended when John’s ex-wife pulled him out of a car he was driving on a busy street of Kaduna, on the ground that the car is a wedding gift from her father, claiming her husband has no right to drive the car without her approval. Michael told WAR, angry with the development, his younger brother; John terminated the marriage, two months after the wedding and did not come out of the trauma until he committed suicide. John who committed suicide on Tuesday morning according to the elder brother drank a poisonous chemical suspected to be a sniper and was seen when his neighbours forced open his door when they did not see him until 1:00 pm. Sensational singer, Naira Marley “Soapy” has now amassed 10 million views on YouTube. On June 28, 2019, Naira Marley released, ‘Soapy‘ which was his follow-up to ‘Opotoyi‘. The single which was released while he was in EFCC custody sparked controversy because of its vulgar content and lyrics which seem to promote masturbation. The track which was a major hit and one of the biggest songs in 2019 was heard in every nook and cranny, played by both young and old. It was also accompanied by a dance which sees one acting like they are masturbating. Of course, Naira was heavily criticized for promoting the sexual act but that did not stop people from listening to the song. Today, the singer via his Instagram page announced that its official music video has amassed 10 million views on YouTube. This would be the singer’s first track to get such an achievement. President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the opening of five COVID-19 Donor Accounts in five commercial banks. Mr Henshaw Ogubike, Director Information and Press, Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, made this known in a statement in Abuja on Tuesday. Ogubike disclosed that the approved banks were Zenith Bank, Access Bank, Guarantee Trust Bank, UBA and First Bank. He explained that the framework covered all public funds allocated and dedicated to the fight against COVID-19 including the Fiscal Stimulus Package as well as all donations by corporate bodies and individuals to the Federal Government towards the fight against COVID-19 and the mitigation of its social and economic effects on citizens. He said this directive also included donations under the Private Sector Coalition Against COVID-19 (CACOVID) Fund domiciled at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). The government of China has called for international solidarity, not “resort to mutual accusation or demand retribution and accountability” over the reports of a planned suit by some Nigerian lawyers. The lawyers, led by Professor Epiphany Azinge (SAN), on April 27 announced plans to begin a $200 billion class action against the People’s Republic of China over the effects of the coronavirus pandemic on Nigeria. But in a statement on Thursday by the Press Secretary of the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria, Sun Saixong, the Chinese government pledged to stand with Nigeria in the global fight against COVID-19. The statement added that:- “our people are joining hands to overcome the current difficulties. The statement added that:- “since the outbreak of COVID-19, in an open, transparent and responsible spirit, China has taken the most comprehensive, rigorous and thorough measures to contain its spread and conduct international cooperation. Augustine Ukwu, a 27-year-old 500L law student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, is dead. The deceased was allegedly murdered by an officer of the Nigerian police force in Nsukka, Enugu State, Vanguard News is reporting. Augustine was said to have gone to a beer parlour at Odobido with his friend on Thursday, April 23, 2020, where he was arrested by a local security outfit, beaten and handed over to the officer in charge of Anti-cult in Nsukka, Ferdinand Nnamdi Ochi, who allegedly murdered him over a yet-to-be-identified issue. The deceased father, Andy Samuel Ugwu, who is a retired policeman, said that all his efforts to unravel the circumstances which led to the death of his son and efforts to retrieve his body have been futile.
