Please I need tips and guidelines on how to ace minimum of 100 in toefl IBT

I have been practicing since last month and my exams is towards this month ending.

I need instructions and guidance from people who have done it before to feed me with what I don't know about toefl. The minimum requirement from my schools is 100 in ibt

You can also apply for teacher grants that will cover your tuitions with the agreement that you will practice in rural school with little earnings after graduation.

I once posted on part 11 seeking for schools that offers masters in chemistry education in USA with cheap tuition fees and I appreciate all the support and responses.

Now, I have selected some schools in mind who has my course at graduate level which Alcorn state University is one of them and I have registered for GRE which I have started practicing.



Just today when I was surfing through the pages of Alcorn state University Mississippi website, I discovered that GRE isn't a requirement for my course. The only things required are toefl or ielts, 2 recommendedation letter, education license, and my transcript.


The same is applicable to the second school which is my second choice.


Do you still advise that I go ahead with my GRE preparations?, or I should forget about GRE and start practicing for toefl or ielts?.

For the license, I have already applied for it.

You need your transcript.
First you need to calculate your gpa in those chemistry courses only. This is gonna be different from your overall cgpa with those education courses. If you have a good gpa in chemistry courses only, you can go for masters. If not, I'd suggest you go for education because you might be required to take some pre-requisites in chemistry.
At this stage, I think what you need is an MSc, not a PhD. For chemistry, you can check East Tennessee state university
Middle Tennessee State University, Missouri State University, University of Nebraska Lincoln and other schools. Look for their admission requirements if you meet up with them.
Plan writing the GRE and Toefl and submit your applications for fall 2018 latest by december 2017.

Please I will like to ask, since I'm filtering chemistry courses alone in my first degree. Will the overall GPA be 5 as obtained in all my courses?. Or will it be the overall of the chemistry courses only?.

Also, please what scores should I target in my GRE and toefl?.

I will also appreciate if I can get study materials for Gre and toefl.

Yes it is possible if you have a solid background in chemistry. How many credit hours of organic, physical, inorganic and analytical did you do?In this case, what's your cgpa in those chemistry courses, or how were your grades like

I don't have my transcript yet. But out of averagely 10 courses I do per semester. Like 4 us chemistry, 2 is industrial chemistry, 2 is analytical chem. Just 1 or 2 is educational courses. I did much of chem than education.


Please after passing the GRE, what is the next step?

One at a time, don't get overwhelm. To start with, you need to dig deep on what you want to study. If you'd be getting an MSc in Chemistry, there are schools that would fund you for the program. What you've saved should be enough for you to take exams, apply to schools, and travel to the US.

Hello people, I need advice.

I had my BSc (education) in chemistry education I'm 2011 and since then, I have been saving up to study my masters in the USA. I have managed to save 2 million naira. I approached an agent based on a Facebook advert and he said he can help me to get a cheap college with tuition fees of $4000 or less. And he wants the charge me 400k as his service charge.

A whole 400,000?, I got scared and I decided to talk to someone who told me to visit student visa section on nairaland and all my problems will be resolved and I won't need to pay a dime to any agent.

So please I need help/ advice.


I graduated with 2.2, cgpa of 2.73

I have saved 2 million naira.

I wanted to study MSc in any science education course. Or educational leadership or educational technology.


I need help on any school that it's fees and tuition falls in my savings.

I need help on how to access and apply for scholarships.

I need help on accommodation in the school community in other to relieve me of hostel fees.

I just need help generally.
