Thats good to know. Well most people here are doing masters and a handful also are also doing phd. The admission process for both Masters and phd are similar. You might want to start with 1) www.google.com 2) www.msinus.com 3) http://graddecision.org 4) www.usnews.com 5) www.gradschool.com. number 3 and number 2 will give you a good overview of the process. YOU NEED TO DO GRE AND PROBABLY TOEFL, dont let any friend or agent tell you otherwise, do the process yourself, take your destiny yourself. As a graduate student the process should be fairly easy for you to manage. I did mine myself from registering for gre and toefl and applying to 6 schools and i didnt die. @sirriddy applied to 8 schools all by himself and he is still alive, he's doing phd you can tal to him. If you have any specific question, you can come back here to ask. BTW i am doing my masters in civil engineering with concentration in structures too. If you have good gpa, you may try 1) University of Maryland, Collager park, 2)Louisiana State University, Baton rouge 3) University of North Carolina, Charlotte( the phd program is run as phd in Infrastructure and Environmental Systems, http://ines.uncc.edu/). Check the msinus website for civil engineering school ranking and you will see other couple of schools. Generally, if you can get into any phd program, it should be fully funded. so your headache right now should be getting into a good one. First step- Write gre, www.ets.org. Cheers. Please house, I will appreciate anybody with enough information on the phd process and procedures, especially on funding opportunities and other available grants to please share to help a brother and others like me.
