Hey, you still need to maintain the POF even after you land?

Hey, I don’t know if this is late already but if you won’t mind, you can check on Amazon Fulfilment Center as they are currently recruiting warehouse associates. Check them online or visit the Calgary FC in Balzac. If you don’t mind oh.

Hello house, trust we are all fine today. Please I need some information for wifey from the nurses in the house, foreign trained and currently practising in Alberta, or anyone with up to date information on RN licensure for foreign trained Nurses in Alberta. We are in Calgary, wifey is a Nigerian and US licensed RN. Now she’s trying to get licensed here as nothing is coming her way at all. But the process is getting a bit tedious as it’s seemingly going to take a long time before getting out of it. From doing evaluation with NANS and all that.

Now I want to find out if there is a quicker way she can get something doing first since she is also US licensed even if as a nursing assistant while she concludes her licensure.

Or could there be a shorter way to getting this done based on her previous licenses? Someone advised she quit the Alberta licensure and go for Ontario license first, and then later convert that to Alberta to make it quicker. Has anyone does this before or is it advisable?

Please I need kind responses my people.

Thanks as I await advise.

Hello All,

Please who knows anything about "E-Coin Management Company in Ottawa, I got a mail from them saying they saw my resume on indeed and willing to offer me a Remote Customer Representative Role. We got talking since then and now I am to sign an agreement and with something called Regulation of Practice. One thing that shock me was the clauses as shown below:

1. Your operator selects a client for you for the date specified before.
2. You get information about the orders to your e-mail: amount, currency type, payment system, date of transfer of money for purchasing of the specified digital currency.
3. You get information about reception of funds on your account in the payment system specified before – for instance, Interac System, Wire Transfer, Third-Party Payment to another RBC Client.
4. You accept transferred funds for purchasing digital currencies to your account and get cash in the nearest bank office.
5. Final stage – purchase of the specified type of digital currency by means of the self-service terminal.
At each stage, you will be provided by full information support from your operator. Completion of one order usually takes 1.5-2 hours.
During Training, you may complete 2-4 orders per day. Commission per order is 150 CAD.
You can get additional information and instructions from your operator.
***
Following the requirements of the financial organization OPPA Credit Union, our company will provide you with a virtual account in OPPA Credit Union only after a personal meeting with our representative to conclude the Employment Agreement.
While the training, you need to use your personal bank account to fulfill current orders placed by our customers. To start your training, please provide the following information:
Name and address of your bank:
Limit on cash withdrawal in ATM:
Limit on cash withdrawal in the bank branch:
Perhaps to clarify the information regarding your limits, you will have to give a call to your bank.

I checked them online and they have a presence there, but still am a bit uncomfortable with the issue of paying into my personal account first.

Does anyone knows about these guys please.

Thanks

Please, I need help regarding my application process and the likely interview questions to prepare for. Thanks fam.

Please be very careful bros. Which interview are you talking about, Canadian Visa is a non-appearance type, or is it for the job? How come you are paying for the Visa before the job interview? and the website too is not just adding up oh, or is it an agent's website? Look before you leap bro!!!

It is a bit complicated but, for a Nigerian, generally you will not need a visa if
i. you are transiting to Canada
ii. you will not leave the main airport building
iii. your onward flight is not in another airport
vi. you will not need to collect your bags and check them in to your onward flight
v. your onward flight does not leave on a different calendar day to when you arrive

You might need to check here: https://www.gov.uk/transit-visa

Thanks so much &Joo2018. I had to call Jumia travels and was advised to book another one cos it’s most likely I will be needing a transit VISA. So I have paid for my Ethiopian airline jejely.

If your concern is finance, I guess that May will be perfect for you. As for affecting plans, it all depends if the stuff are in Naija or Canada.
If naija, you can do soft landing with the family and return to Naija to finish up with your stuff, before joining them fully. As there must be a way round it.
All the best as you proceed.

Yeah thanks efueh...currently weighing all options.

Hi Lastruct,

Your travel date is in August, and ticket prices are always higher at that time (because it’s summer).

June/July/August is peak period for travel, so it costs more. If you can, check for travel dates before June and after August. April or October maybe

Skyscanner is your best option. You can also try a local travel agent. They have good deals from time to time.

Thank you for your kind advise...will keep working with skyscanner then and also adjust my travel plan backwards since my August is our landing deadline.
Regards

Wow...that’s a very good deal oh...I’ve been checking Jumia too sha.. will keep monitoring it. Though I’m now getting better deals on skyscanner as suggested, I got about 935k for all of us but it’s for May, most of the cheap ones I got in the range 935k to 1.2m are in May and leaving in May would affect a lot of planning stuffs...will keep checking to see if I can get something better around July sha. Thanks everyone for your support.

I am one of silent readers on nairaland since this great platform helped me achieved my dream of coming to canada few years ago. I think it is high time for me to give back to this wonderful platform. I quite agree that few nigerians move to BC because everyone believe that BC is expensive to live in but you start your life in all these cities you mentioned which are affordable like the rest of the cities in canada. Another reason is that nigerians are few in BC so, some of us relate to white people a lot because you don't see many nigerians to relate with grin. So, people goes to Calgary, toronto, manitoba etc just to be in the midst of nigerians. And so other reasons personally known to nigerians.

So, to your question sir, I will analyse each cities one after the other because i have been to most of the cities either for work or vacation.

Kelowna
This is one of the fastest growing cities in Canada now. I lived in this city for 3 years because i did my schooling there and also worked there before moving to Kamloops for full time position. Though, i still go there on my days off because of my great network there. It is a relatively big city that has all the social amenities present in bigger cities. It is very affordable to live here if you have a good paying good. Few nigerian doctors are here with a big mansion living in grin. Is just that real estate is becoming pricey now because, it is like a retirement city (Lots of old people with big money), people from nearby bigger cities (vancouver, calgary, edmonton) comes there to purchase house after getting tired of bigger cities rat race grin. Kelowna has one of the best weather in canada. lots of sunshine. It is a tourism city as well, lots of beautiful place to see. Nice beaches, hiking trails, mountains surrounding. i can keep going all day long about kelowna because i love this city. Not too small, not too big. traffic is getting worst now because people are discovering this paradise everyday grin. Lots of construction companies in kelowna which gives you hope of getting a job in your profession sooner or later. I don't know anything about civil engineering job in kelowna or any cities in BC because am in Health care profession but i believe you will probably need so sort of licensing body but lots of construction companies because

I hope i am able to give you few info about all these cities. Generally, they are all great cities to live. And note, BC
Bring Cash, Everyone know that but all these cities are affordable. Trust me. Don't be afraid. God bless you sir.

Wooooooow!!! Bros u too much...to know that there is someone here who could give this much detail is amazing...God will bless you for us. With this I already have enough basis to compare and decide...I really appreciate you for this. Cheers and wish you all the best as well.

We are also looking at settling in Kelowna based on recommendation by an employment liaison specialist in Kelowna. Spouse is a mechanical engineer and I'm a public health professional. This has also got us thinking since its difficult to get in touch with people living in BC. Still don't know way forward. Can you kindly get in touch in case you get someone to give you more info about BC.

Okay then...I will, and please do so try get in touch should you have any clue as well. The issue has been that most people I have met don’t know much or anything about BC. But I’m quite sure we will be alright.

Also, considering that your COPR is ready and looking at the bolded above, hope you're aware you have to land before your medicals expires.Or did you do your medicals in November 2018? Please respond cos we're all learning here.

Thanks very much, I will check Glitteringstar2 out. My MEP was actually November. Will leave towards late September though. or Latest early October. Not concluded on that yet.

Wooow... wey detailed...nice one dumprep...May the land favour you big...cheers. We are coming behind you.

[quote author=dumprep post=75233555]My Landing Gist

Sorry this is coming late guys.

So I woke up early on December 9, 2018 as I couldn’t sleep because of too much excitement to finally settle in my beloved Canada. My Lufthansa flight to Toronto via Frankfurt was scheduled for 11:40 PM, I got to the airport just in time to check in. After the much dreaded checking in, I had a huge relief. From AoR to PPR to CoPR, village people still wanted to at least try their luck again at the airport. My dad’s car broke down just as we arrived the airport. My other 2 brothers were not allowed in so they had to stay back to check the car, we said our emotional goodbyes and took goofy selfies with plenty hugs. @Topsmamen was not with us as he was out of the country, chillaxing somewhere. Getting to checking in, I had an excess of 13KG and while the immigration lady was still talking, my head was running around analysing what heavy items were in what bag and how I could reduce the weight. A friend in Toronto asked me to bring her some clothing and food items and knowing I would be staying with her, that was the least I could do. I kept thinking - “Should I remove these heavy boots? Do I drop some bags of Semo or the Poundo Yam?”. While I was standing there thinking, from the corner of my eye, I could see the lady staring at me waiting for me to end my drama, I looked up at my Dad and I could see the lines of worry on his face. He’s a conscientious person and seeing him like that pained me. “It happens”, so he said. After weighing my bags at home, my people, it’s like the weighing scales they use at the airports do ojoro for us o.

So the next thing I heard was “Madam, I like your tshirt. That text is funny. Please bring your bags”. I looked down at my tshirt like I totally forgot what was written there. On my tshirt was written – “I hate being too pretty but someone’s gotta do it”. Well, I don’t blame myself, na excess luggage wahala cause am. I glanced again over at my Dad and gave him a thumbs up, I’m not quite sure but I think I saw his mouth say the word - “Halleluyah”. I don't know what made her to do that but it was divine favor, I thanked the kind lady and we finally cleared immigration, took some more selfies with my Dad, we prayed and made video calls with family and friends.

The flight was smooth. The in-flight entertainment wasn’t bad. I watched some movies like the much-hyped Crazy Rich Asians and A Quiet Place. The food was okay too. It was a 6-hour, 30-minute flight. I sat between an elderly Naija woman and a middle-aged Indian man who was in Nigeria for 1 week and I was surprised that within a week, he had already been to Abuja, Lekki, Ikeja, Ibadan, Yaba, Surulere, Benin, PH, even Abule Egba and Ketu. Talk about being an ajala the traveller. Said he has been hearing about kidnappings in Naija but he was not scared to move around. In my mind I was like, “correct! Shina Rambo”. He kuku looked like a Bollywood actor from one of those funny Indian low-grade action movie clips we see on social media. Very friendly and funny guy. Within a short period, I got to learn a lot from my new-found travel buddy, his name was Susanta. I asked him about their light festival - Diwali and he spoke at length about their culture and religion. I was enjoying his gist until it got to a point where I wished I could give him a tranq shot because I needed some sleep, he eventually drifted off to sleep with his face, in my direction, and too close to my face. I carefully nudged him to adjust on few occasions…and shook my head…..my new Bollywood friend…....sigh.

God bless you bros. I appreciate your time

einsteino:

I dont know much about ottawa but I strongly doubt that it has just as much construction jobs as Calgary, even with the economic downturn Alberta is passing through. Another thing is Ottawa is bilingual, so the CM job you manage to find may require you to be able to read docs in both french and english. The survival job your friend said is readily available isn't enough reason to move over there. Inshort, if even survival jobs are competitive in a canadian city I live in, then I'd rather go back to Nigeria and continue my career. If you arent picky, calgary should be able to at least avail you a survival job. If he were talking Toronto Vs Calgary, it would make sense cos at least you know you also have a good chance to find a CM job in Toronto while managing the survival job.

As for the city like lagos bit, I dont know where people get that from. It is true that Toronto is the lagos of Canada but this doesnt mean that life in Toronto is same as life in lagos, except you mean the saner parts of lagos ie the likes of V.I. If you arent living in downtown Toronto, the city can easily feel too slow and quiet for a wannabe lagosian. The socalled mad traffic here is the sanity lagos prays for. Canadian cities rarely have anything in common with lagos, except high cost of living. Of course, some canadian cities are much more calmer than some, so Toronto in comparison to other Canadian cities is Lagos but for someone straight out of naija it isnt, at worst you'd say its like Abuja.
