Good evening house, trust we all had a great day. Please I need a help on something, I got biometric request today for spouse and I(primary applicant). In our application, we used same address which is Abuja, right now I work in Lagos and spouse works in Abuja. I would like to know if it’s compulsory we both capture in the same place or we can capture separately based on current location (remember our registered address is Abuja). Just trying to see if we can avoid the transportation cost. Has anyone been in my shoes here? Thanks as I await your responses dear family of God.

Wooow!!! ITA finally fell on me and I felt like I have gotten COPR already. Missed the previous draw by just 20 minutes due to network while trying to update my profile during transit. But Thank God I finally clinched it today. Big congrats everyone who also got it this time. Sincere appreciation goes to God and to everyone contributing in one way or the other in this Canadian Journey. God bless us all... Let the real deal begin now...No time.

LOL...Ghost update ke? I'm not even there yet, I only create my profile two days ago. While waiting for our ECA report, I just remembered i once did an ECA in 2015 but only for my first degree, so i decided to create my profile and be in the pool with 397, and later update it when ECA is ready by 25th this month. Then i got a mail this afternoon that i have an update in my account, checked but nothing was there. So am assuming
maybe it's sent in error or something.

Hello Seniors, Please is it possible to get an update mail in error? I got a mail for an update on my account but logged in to find nothing. Do some of us get this at times too? Thanks
TravelRe: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Workers Program- Connect Here Part 4 by Lastruct: 6:01pm On Jul 20, 2018
No they are not...they must have done it, it happened to some of us. You may need to chill a bit. In my own case, what i did was to send a direct message to WES on twitter. and my update came in about an hour after. You may want to do that too.
Compu001:
Please I want to know something because it never happened to me. My spouse school are claiming that they have replied WES since Monday through email and today is Friday, the status is yet to change. Is it possible that the school is lying??

It may take from two weeks to forever. You may want to either go there to intimate them or get a contact at the registrars office (3rd Floor I think). But in all, you need someone to talk to them to get it done faster.
and NO, you dont have to pay any other fee to get it done. Hope it helps
Adunnee:
I have a question. Is there anyone here who finished from Unilag and has verified with WES? How long did it take for Unilag to respond to WES request to verify your documents? Is there an additional fee I need to pay to Unilag? My transcript has been sent to WES but Unilag is yet to verify my result.

Thank you.

Except this started within the last 2 weeks because my transcript was verified on the 6th of May by mail and it was accepted. My ECA was completed on Friday 25th May. I have the PDF copy with me right now.
Okay Thanks very much for this info ArcUgo; However, can you please tell me how long it took from the day the verification was sent to the day your WES profile was updated? Thanks in anticipation bro.

Hello House,
Kindly help confirm this please; For those who have been able to escape WES verification recently, is it true that WES no longer receive verification through email again except hard copy? Someone just told me that, and I heard that Unilag has sent replied my verification mail in the last one week but yet to see an update on my WES profile. I need info on this please, so I can advise my schools appropriately on what to do next.

Thanka all.

Hello house, Please I need a clarification. For those who have concluded ECA with Unilag, I want to know if I have to make payment for the verification or the sum has been included from the onset. I am asking because after I had paid the required calculated sum, I was asked to pay another 7k before my transcript could be sent. I never bothered to ask what it was meant for as it has over delayed already. Now at the verification stage and I would like to know if I will have to pay the 3k as shown on Unilag webpage. Thanks in anticipation.

Requested for remark on Writing and Speaking. EOR came out today;

Just go to bank and raise a draft of 15k. Then take the draft to your test center with your result and inform them you want to ask for remark. They will give you a form to fill out.
Good luck

Thanks a bunch bro...Will do just that...Meanwhile by Test Centre, I assume you mean british council office (e.g Maitama office) and not where I wrote the test. or do u mean the office where I took the speaking test? Kindly clarify. Thanks and God bless

Hello my e-family,
IELTS results in oh....

L (8.5)
R (9)
W (6.5)
S (7.5)

First, I will like to appreciate everyone here who has made this possible for me through the shared Cambridge materials, it really helped me sincerely, coupled with ieltsliz.com. God will bless the people who shared it abundantly, I cannot really pick names.
However, I want to order for a remark on my writing immediately as I am very sure I should get a minimum of 8.0. Though I feel I know why the score is low. I wrote on extra sheet but unfortunately I mistakenly continued on the back page instead of the front, it was at the point of submission after proof reading that I discovered this and I just wrote P.T.O in front. This may not also be the cause but its a probability, maybe the marker did not turn over. What do u think house?

Moreso, I will like to know the process of ordering for a remark on writing, and timeline to do so after the result is out. waiting patiently for your comment my family. Thanks again for all your effort here.

I got this message from a Grad Coordinator; please learn from it.
Dear Sir,

Thank you for your kind words.

All application processes are competitive. I can’t predict your chances. Those depends on the size, the depth, and the quality level of this year’s applicant pool.

Next year’s pool may be better, same, or worse. There is no predicting that. Despite lower than desired GRE scores, we have admitted applicants who showed evidence of clear and consistent promise

that gave us confidence they would be successful and that therefore funding them would be a good investment. I can recall as an example, an international student who had an undergraduate degree from the top university

in her country, a master’s in education research methods from another good university there, showed that she had significant quantitative methodology skills (statistics, econometrics), had a very good TOEFL score, showed unambiguous indications of strong motivation and hard work  etc. In short, there was more than enough there in the file to act as counterweight to the disappointing GRE score. We look at the overall file of each applicant because we have had some applicants with high scores and very good grades who failed within a year. There is more to a good meal than just the spices. I cannot predict what would happen if you applied this year. All I can say is that success is not impossible

and that success is not of a high likelihood. If you wait a year, you would have the opportunity to conduct a systematic and thorough GRE and even TOEFL preparation to improve your scores. I understand the financial challenges of that on a typical Nigerian salary. An application now costs money too, so you must decide whether the risk/reward ratio is satisfactory or unsatisfactory.

Look again through the program and read the course descriptions. What preparation, skills, and abilities would you need to be successful? What do you have other than the GRE that would convince you if you were on an admissions committee and saw that file in a box with fifty other files? Admissions means choosing a few out of the many.

We will give your file the same careful review whether we receive it this year, next year, or even two years in a row.
Thanks very much for this post...very helpful

First and foremost, this GRE score may only get you into a tier 3 university (funding is not guaranteed),it will be a miracle to get you otherwise. its not really worth it to do PHD in a tier 3 university since phd is research intensive. you don't want to finish PHD after 3-4years of hard labor and labor again to get job. Like we always say, some schools will make getting jobs easy while some, you will have to hustle your way to get it. Some schools will bring the job to you, all you have to do is proof yourself while some you will go out there to get it and also proof yourself. In a nutshell, had it been you had your masters in the US, this GRE score wont be a problem but since you didn't, it will be hard to get an admission with this GRE score not to talk of funding since 90% of the schools wont admit a self funded student.I know someone who got admitted with lesser GRE for Transportation Engineering at university of Virginia, that is to say there are exception due to recommendation and networking. I know you don't want to hear this but I will still say it, go and re-write GRE and shoot for above 310 this time. Plan for fall 2019, US wont run away.Right now funding is harder than ever to come by due to cut in research funding by the US government. However, there is still funding if you research on schools well, nothing is impossible if you set your mind at it. If you want to consider Europe, weight all the pros and cons because language is a barrier in most European country and funding is not easy to come by. Also consider the immigration law since most wont allow you to stay after your studies, even at that, are there jobs there? That is another big question you need to answer.
Thank you for your wonderful advise bro...God bless you real good. Will consider all you have said.

Nobody can predict chances oo. I always see that comment

Funding/free money will always be competitive and it has to be justifiable to the sponsor that this is a top candidate. Dont forget this funding is sortafter not only by Nigerians but globally

So let me tell you the honest truth
No short cut around that... you can try and pray that your gpa might buffer the score but truly Even in some cases admission is hard for phd with that score how much more with funding
Thanks a bunch ma'am. I appreciate you.

Face it. Your gre quant score is too low. You would struggle to get a school at all. Seeking for funding? That would be the joke of the century. It amazes me how you say you have no time to study for an exam on which a huge part of your future depends.
Thanks very much for your response. They are all well noted

EZEIGBO1OFIMO:
Sorry about the score sir, Life truly isn't easy. To be Honest, very few schools will be willing to overlook your poor GRE score, and excellent GPA. Your GPA is Super OK, I'm assuming you have at least one publishable/published thesis from your MSc. , so the missing piece here is the GRE. If it wouldn't be too much to ask, I suugest you write another GRE, this time with at least a 6 month Gap, and look towards fall 2019. Between Now and fall 2019, waka go http://libgen.io and begin to scour through civil engineering journals free of charge (its not legal, but hey you're in Nigeria), find papers that interest you, read them and mail the professors back stating interest in their work (please let the mail be individual specific, do not mass mail). You can begin building rapport with the few professors who are kind enough to reply and inform them of your plans to come under their supervision for a PhD. If you can hit at least >305 in your next GRE, coupled with an assured Professor of interest in mid tier schools, there's a high chance of cruising to a fully funded PhD.
EDIT: I'll implore scholastica16 to come give GRE score boosting advice.
EDIT2: if you insist very much on not rewriting the GRE, then you can turn the sail of your ship towards Europe, since you already have a masters, though funding is a big problem in Europe.
Finally, if and only if you have at least two published papers in good journals, there are some schools willing to push aside GRE, although they may not be very great ones.
I honestly appreciate your response...will look critically into all you have said. Thanks so much bro.

Hello House, Its been a while here. I sincerely need your advice on my issue, not minding any criticism. After much researching and taking advice from a brother (femi321). I have taken GRE amidst all difficulties and little or no time to study harder. I need to know if I have a chance of getting admission with funding (and possible suggested schools), though already preparing to send mails to grad coord. of some schools using schools list on msinus.com with the low GRE scores, I just need some advice considering the short time I have to start applications. Meanwhile, I do not intend to write another GRE, as the chance of being able to fully prepare for GRE again is too slim. My Profile below;

GRE Score: 297 (Q147, V150) as seen on the screen after the exam, waiting for AWA
MSc Civil & Environmental (Structures, Unilag): 4.48/5.00
BTech Civil Engr'g : 4.16/5.00
TOEFL: writing on 16th December
7 years work experience
Have 2 Kids (LOL)

I intend going for a PhD in Civil Engineering (Structures)
I will appeciate any kind suggestions here my people, will also like to know if there is hope or I just forget about it since I dont intend to re-write GRE.
