Looks like the actress and mother of three will really spend years in prison over a car accident in 2005 that took a man's life. Her bail application suffered a setback yesterday Thursday March 17th at the court of Appeal in Lagos after the judges ruled that her application was incompetent. The three man-panel led by Justice U.I Ndukwe-Anyanwu, said that the application was not properly filed as her counsel failed to attach copies of the judgment that was delivered by the court which affirmed the five years jail sentence imposed on her. The court adjourned hearing for her bail application to April 7th when copies of the March 11th judgement would have been included. She was afterward sent back to prison. Ibinabo has approached the Supreme Court to set aside the March 11th verdict of the Lagos State Court of Appeal which validated the 5 year jail term handed down to her by the state's High court over the 2005 accident in which her car killed one Dr Giwa.

A Palestinian father cradled, kissed and cried as he said goodbye to his 3 year old daughter, Rahaf who was killed alongside her pregnant 30-year-old mum, Noor Hassan in an Israeli air strike near Gaza City, on Sunday, October 11, when their house collapsed. The Israeli army said that its planes were targeting two Hamas weapons-manufacturing sites in the area and not civilians. The mother and child were buried today. No fewer than 29 people lost their lives after Boko Haram members attacked Dille community and other surrounding villages of Askira Uba Local Government Area in Borno state yesterday July 27th. A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Jubrin Satumari confirmed the recent attack and said his plea for more troops to be drafted to his constituency has over time fallen on deaf ears "I am much worried over the spate of killings by suspected insurgents in my constituency. I have pleaded to security authorities, particularly military to deploy troops to most of the affected villages to safeguard my people’s lives and property, but all my cries failed on deaf ears as there are no security presence in my constituency yet, but I still want to assure my people that we are doing everything possible to see that military troops are deployed immediately” he said. |
